Drove the most dangerous road in the country yesterday @about 11.30AM ..That suicide run along Fairview .A few cyclists sharing that strip of road with busses and taxis .Wait till the Students are back in Trinners or Local Schools and when Garry Brooks is singing in the Field on the Northside .I will be driving junkies around the 8,10,12s and 22s while Friends in Low Places is playing .Joe Duffy will have a Breakdown listening to how bad the traffic will be for the Garry Concerts .
Are there any adults left in charge of Anything ?

You'd wonder about value for money. Seems to me a bunch of cyclists bike into town in the morning, then few or no cyclists during the day, and then all the morning cyclists bike the reverse route in the evening. Lots of money spent for 4 hours, Mon -Fri... €62million for 2.5km bicycle lanes and a water pipe!
Aside: they put bicycle lanes with bollards on Griffith Avenue. But the Council workers + lorries couldn't get at the trees to clean/tidy them for winter. Now they're digging up the plastic bollards to replace them with concrete strips. Very environmentally friendly :P

A QUESTION : Is it legal to overtake a cyclist in a bus lane ?
If you drive a bus lane it has a continuous white line .At the end of a lot of bus lanes you meet a broken White line indicating you may merge into the traffic .This broken line obviously quantifies the legality of the Solid White line .
Now you are driving behind a Cyclist and want to overtake ,by law you must leave them 1 meter that would require at least two of your wheels crossing the white line .
So when is a continuous white line not a continuous white line and when can you cross a continuous white line ?

Just thought I would ask .The broken white line at the end of the bus lane just got me thinking ,they also break the solid line at T junctions where busses merge into the bus lane .
Broken white line is to denote end of bus lane, some require busses and taxis to yield if the lane merges into normal traffic. We and busses can enter or leave bus lane anywhere along the route. Private cars can also enter bus lanes if they are taking the next available left turn (way it`s supposed to work anyway )

Anyways…research provers that cycle lanes cause more pollution…Fossel fuel is used to generate lithium batteries for electric cars….not to mention electric windmills and I notice that Greta will not visit China,India or Brazil to tell them about the pollution issues! …Its all a waste of time. Monkeys would run it all much better?

Ermnomics .A cyclist consumes more food to turn into energy to turn the peddles .That food needs more water more fertilizer .More energy to process it more Fuel to transport it to the Shops so the Cyclist can fill up .Then that food creates waste by way of Piss and Shit .This waste must be processed which requires more energy and the Bio waste creates a different type of Pollution .

I would think that cycle lanes or(in this country /paint lines) slow down and cause congestion of traffic and hence-more pollution and use of fossel fuels?

Bubba I spoke to a Garda and the Bus lane is considered a Continuous white line but there are exceptions in law for crossing it ..To avoid an obstruction, for access, or if there is a broken white line on your side of the continuous white line. A bus stopped to pick up or a cyclist would be an Obstruction .We may cross it if it is safe to do so .

BBC2 on a Saturday morning was a must for me as a kid to watch Abbott & Costello.....they were hilarious!!
