Seems to be an unusually high number of new entrants with Irish/English sounding names in last months list of new drivers (below).
I wonder if it's down to NTA's recent/ongoing recruitment drive or is Free Now broadening it's focus on recruitment to include Ireland?

It's the inordinate number of white sounding names that catches the eye. Earnings must be reasonable enough to attract drivers from outside the normal first generation immigrant sector?

Looking at the list in the OP plate numbers starting with W are WAVs, those starting with T are saloon taxis.

^^^^The locals only like driving taxis when the money is good.Otherwise they do something else easier.Me younger brother's mates are amongst some of the new drivers and are bragging about potential earnings which is attracting a lot of interest.
Even in my taxi I've had Irish passengers telling me their family members are new drivers or are trying to pass the geography test.They're on the way in to the industry.
I think it's a bit reckless that the NTA are advertising "substantial earnings" on their radio advert recruitment campaign.The only thing substantial will be the hours worked by drivers when the economy dies agian.

fresh meat new talent... Approx a third of drivers are over 60 years of age as of 2000. They're unlikely to be buying EVs, sumup gadgets and cruising the city centre at 2am on a Sunday morning!

Uber's been here for years. Many of our contributors work for the firm. When Free Now start offering clapped out Pryeyeuses at less than half the taxi fare (as it does in London) in addition to it's eScooter/eBicycle offering is when the excrement will come into contact with the spinning turbine. Every Free Now job you do contributes to putting yourself out of business.

We'll buy the EVs once Minister Ryan pays the majority of the cost for us. Ironically, getting brand new motors for peanuts will reduce the (antisocial) hours we need/want to work. Of course, new entrants must buy WAVs, of which there aren't really any viable EV versions. Youngsters don't want to work nights either, they want to be out travelling in taxis rather than driving them... at least untill they enter middle age with school going Children.

I got mine a year ago.It was 4 years old with 22k km for 25k.
He just sold a 4 year old Caddy last month with 40k km for €37,000 !

The price of second hand motors has gone through the roof since Brexit... all happened while the erm had us thinking about a couple of pennies on a sliced pan. At the moment I'd say new is the way to go.
