LEITRIM
“The First and Last Green Mile”: Pilot to integrate Local Link service, hackney and community e-bike scheme This pilot project, which will be delivered by Leitrim County Council, will explore how community-based solutions can improve integration with public transport services. The pilot encompasses further research into demand for services, building on an existing community car scheme. Following this, an operations model and governance system will be developed. The project will also include the development of a software management tool to match requests with transport providers. The Pathfinder aims to provide insight into effective rural sustainable mobility options, facilitating households, where possible, to move from two car to one car ownership.

I dunno why they're re-inventing the wheel with their software programs and whatnot.
My brother lives near Drogheda and when he goes out, he has 3 or 4 taxi numbers in his phone. When he's ready to go home, he phones the first one, then the second etc until he gets an answer. The taxi driver will tell him he's, say, third in the "queue" and he'll collect them in 30mins. Seems to work ok in a medium-sized town like Drogheda?
No need for software & integrated solutions - just be nice to the taxi driver(s) when you phone them!

Waiting 30 mins for a taxi in Drog?
-
It's been a while since I went out with him but it all seemed very civilised. He'd phone for a taxi and be told, say, 30 mins and then we'd have another pint while waiting for the taxi to turn up...
I suppose you could walk to a rank but that would involve, you know, walking :2cheers

Waiting 30 mins for a taxi in Drog?
Was there a driver shot there about two years ago and another Driver stabbed in Dundalk {might of been murdered}
-
Yeah, a taxi driver was driving a bad guy over 'The Bridge of Peace' (yeah, really) in Drogheda and got stopped in traffic. A rival gang coming the other way saw him, jumped out and tried to shoot the bad guy. Don't think anybody got hurt though.
Don't know about Dundalk.

Shows you what a roaring success the local area hackneys are.
