If someone wants to go by the M50, you add the toll charge onto the bill at the end. If someone wants to be dropped at the front door of Liffey Valley, just add the €2.50 'toll' to the final bill? Simples, no?

Watty who pays you to Q to get out its a Fucking Shambles .The Cinema is handing out parking paid tokens ..Technically you are paying to park not drop off why should the passenger pay he dosent want you to park ?

Don't know. Think I've been to Liffey Valley maybe 10 times in my entire life so don't know how things work out there.
The NTA will have to issue guidance because I heard Blanch SC are doing the same after Xmas. Probably bull but you never know.

All Commercial carparks are going that way its a Council Directive .It is based on the size of the Carpark .Blanch ,Square ,Omni .Swords all going that way .Talking with my mate the city Councillor the next move is to ban ALL on street parking in the Canal corridor between the two canals from the sea to the South Circular at Kilmainham .Then disc or residential parking for the outer ring or 1 Km outside of the non parking cordon to stop fringe areas being turned into car parks .So if you are a taxi driver living on Lennox Street you park in Terenure and walk or bike home .

Jeez, a plan like that would bankrupt half the small shops in the city and the shopping centres. In the Omni, for example, there's a Tesco and Pennys as anchor tenants - all the rest is kinda discretionary spending. And the cinema is maybe 1/3 mile from the bus stop. Can't see many Romeos bringing the girlfriend on the bus to the movies and walking that far just to cop a feel in the dark 8)
If you were a small shop, you'd be better off closing the shop, setting up a website and selling from your house!
Maybe I'm the odd one out but I just can't see the majority of people getting a bus into town/S.C. (€6-8 roundtrip) on a whim to buy stuff.

Could be good for us if people realised that 3 or 4 sharing a taxi is often cheaper than the bus!

Tis mad.
I looked at the NTA's draft Greater Dublin Area Transport Strategy 2022-2042 (https://consult.nationaltransport.ie/en/system/files/materials/12/NTA%20GDA%20Transport%20Strategy%202022-42.pdf) (PDF) That's the next 20 years. If you search it, there's not one mention of 'taxi' and only one 'SPSV' (night time economy). That's mind-boggling.
At least the Dublin City Council's draft Development Plan 2022-2028 (https://www.dublincity.ie/residential/planning/strategic-planning/dublin-city-development-plan/development-plan-2022-2028) is a bit better. In Chapter 8 (Sustainable Movement and Transport), there's 6 mentions of 'taxi' but none for 'sPSV'.

Down Thomas Street today not a single shop on it only Food shops or cake shops or coffee shops .When I was a kid you didnt have to go further than Thomas Street to buy anything loads of shops Like Frawleys .Nicholls Curtain shops Carpet shops .Was just thinking if part of the reason the Council want to ban on street parking is to allow space for delivery vans and bin trucks .You get caught behind an Amazon delivery van or bin truck everything grinds to a halt .Nobody seems to go to town to shop anymore its all out of town or on line .
