Title: card readers
Post by: Dr. Martin Gooter Bling on November 24, 2022, 01:24:54 am
what kinda card readers jav and jever have any trouble with it. i have the standalone sum up 3g yoke. probably 1 out of every 10 times it acts the cunt. either it won't get a signal and i havta restart it or a seldom but present problem is i can't get a signal and i go to restart it and it freezes for 10/15 minutes before it eventually goes off. you can leave the yoke in sleep mode with screen off but every time you give it a quick power on 9 times out of 10 it won't have a signal and you havta restart it rendering the sleep mode useless.

RC figured out quickest way is to leave SumUp box off and let the phone app wake it up to process payment.

If it doesn't talk to phone app, long press power button on box for up to 15 sec until you see message like 'Bluetooth resettting' or something. Then box will talk to phone.

I followed this advice ..and it's worked every time since without exception

Or just get a cabapp reader if you don't mind paying a miniscule bit more than sum up in commission.

i remember why i stopped using the old sum up.
it connected to the phone via bluetooth.
i always had my phone bluetoothed to the sound system and there would always be a clash when i wanted to use the sum up.

Were you listening to The Clash when you wanted to use the Sumup?

That is just plain lazy dinosaur advice, the cab app reader charges double the sum up commission and needs to be charged every 3 or 4 days.

This was explained to you before Ken. Your greed is blinding your memory.  It's a poxy euro out of every 100.

if you have Revolut, i give the option if they want to transfer money if Sumup starts acting up. As already said, Sumup acts up once every bluemoon.

im not sure if there is a charge for withdrawals though, cant remember. i have a watch that has NFC so i keep my Revolut card details on it, and my AIB card details on my phone. handy if you are out and forget your wallet.
