IRELAND IS PREPARING for cold weather today as below-freezing temperatures and possible snow are forecast from this evening.Dont go out unless you have to,especially if you are a nightime taxi driver.
Met Éire has issued a Status Yellow ice warning for the entire country beginning at midnight tonight and until midday tomorrow, with the forecaster warning that a band of wintry precipitation “will sink southwards with the potential for black ice/freezing rain on surfaces”.
A separate Status Yellow warning for low temperatures and ice has also been announced for tomorrow night and Friday morning.
The national director for Fire and Emergency Management, Keith Leonard, told RTÉ Radio’s News at One that public transport operators have activated their cold weather plans.Like take the night off or you may crash and it will cost thousands.
Local authorities have activated their severe weather assessment teams and Transport Infrastructure Ireland have also stored double the amount of grit salt used in a typical winter, he said. The NTA say its up to the individual, what to do in coldweather?…..You are on your own!

Imagine....cold weather in winter!!

Can we charge extra if we turn on the heating? Heating uses extra fuel and it:s so damn expensive at the moment.
-
Joe Public just wants a cab within a couple of minutes of when they press the button, they don't give a fuck about drivers crashing, like you said-you're on yer own.

Last night was above 0c and no ice on roads in Dublin. Are they making this up?

Wed night it held at about zero down here most of the night, but last night Thurs it was -4 most of the night.
But the roads were dry'ish and all the bus routes are well gritted.
I use the official met eireann forecast as a guide; https://www.met.ie/weather-forecast/cork-city (https://www.met.ie/weather-forecast/cork-city)
input your own city area at the top.
