Professional Bus Driver Training Programme
We are recruiting candidates for Professional Bus Driving to join us in delivering a quality customer service. We are looking for people who will operate our buses safely and efficiently and who will make every effort to ensure our customers have a positive experience of Bus Eireann.
Minimum Requirements
B Licence Applicants
§ A valid driving licence Category B (for a minimum of 2 years) or Category C with no endorsements
§ A valid D Licence Learner Permit
§ A valid CPC Bus Case Study sheet (Please note, the CPC bus case study is only valid for a period of 2 years from its date of issue.)
Please note if you do not have the minimum criteria your application will not be considered
Recruitment Process: Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Salary: Allowance of €581.88 per week gross while training to obtain Full “D” Class Licence. This will increase to €731.30 per week after obtaining Category D Licence and up to €846.65 in Year 7.
Shifts: Upon obtaining full “D” Licence, Drivers will then operate scheduled services covering early/middle/late/night shifts on a 5/7 day week with rotating shifts.
Training: Initial training is provided as well as on-going training and development (including periodic CPC).
Benefits: On appointment following a probationary period of 12 months, (excluding initial training period) we will offer you a wide range of benefits including either a company pension scheme or a PRSA pension scheme, a subsidised medical scheme, free bus travel and concessionary rail travel.
Applications without scans of required documents (licences, CPC Case Study) will not be processed.

Tram drivers get double that ...an they don't even have to operate a steerin wheel just a stop/ go button ...plus they are completely cut off from the apes ...don't need English cause they don't talk to anyone an they don't have to collect money or operate ticket machines or ask the apes wer wat stop ther gettin off .....
The mind boggles .....
Highly stressful job drivin a bus that has only 6 inches of maneuvering inside a bus lane an havin to negotiate janet horner type screwballs an scooter junkies .....
I wudnt do that job for 100 an hour ....
No wonder they can't get anyone to do it

I had a dublin bus driver in the car one day and he brings a tazer to work with him.
He stopped some junkie getting on the bus with an invalid free pass or some bollox and he tried to spray lighter fluid inside the safetly screen and set him on fire.If you get fukked on the wrong route you'd be dredding it everyday.

Jaysus, I'd imagine a tazer (spark) and lighter fluid don't mix well? Sounds like a lucky escape in all senses of the word!
I couldn't be a bus driver. You'd always be blamed when any little goes wrong because you're a 'professional' driver.

In the end apparently, some immigrant ran at the junkie and pushed him out off the bus so a happy ending for all.
I suppose the worse part of driving the bus is having to act as a security guard if anything kicks off while yer doing yer job.
