I got no offer but that'd be no use to me anyway.

€30 off your freight... without which my freight would have been well over €50 for ONE (9.5 hour) SHIFT. I'd say you can remember when we got a week's freight for €80 and could do as much work as we wanted for that! And no commission, and no backhanders to base staff? Ya spoofer. If you weren't giving backhanders or doing backdoor work you were on your own. 8)

I'd say you can remember when we got a week's freight for €80 and could do as much work as we wanted for that!Ah, the Good Auld days ! Sitting on a rank and belling in fer every job and trying to keep track of the base roster and paying about a Ton a week fer it, while half of the work you did was your own off the street/private.
I assume you're talking about during the recession, Ken. Prior to that you woulda loved C2K... all plots maxed out with jobs every Fri/Sat evening - you'd pull into a cul de sac in one of the housing schemes and 3 or 4 doors would open when you sounded the horn... but the real money was the early morning prebookings, we were matching your hourly rate of today, only in punts! There was never any commission or any need to bribe anyone but it was no harm to move for the odd one the base controller was struggling to cover - and there were countless. You wouldn't get any back door work as such but might get the odd whisper during a quiet Tuesday or Wednesday shift e.g. I was once number 8 on the depot when the controller suggested via channel 2 that Donabate might be worth a look... and it was... but the job was there on screen for anyone that wanted to take a chance to bid on.Oh the innocence of it all. 8)
Heart-broken I am ! Didn't make me Bobo last night !! ::fds
Bobo was 7 jobs Midnight to 4am fer a Pony.
Started work at Midnight, first app job around the corner was a no-show,
took a few street hails after that. But I was still sitting OK'ish on 3 jobs at 1.30am,
needing only 4 more in the next 2.5 hours fer me Bobo, hardly a big ask.
Nothing, Nada coming in on the FN screen the whole way back in to town,
I took another street hail and after dropping again Nothing, Nada coming on screen,
untill I was right back in the city center and then got the 'Black box' job at 2.15am
going 10km out to Ballincollig, did that fer me 4th job and then again Nothing, Nada
the whole way back to the city right throught the Southern burbs untill I was again
back in the city center and got another city 'Black box' job at 2.45am, ending at 3.05am
fer me 5th job, surely I could do 2 more in an hour ?
Again after dropping in the Southern burbs no offer at all till I got back in to the city proper,
and then yet another city 'Black box' job at 3.15am going 12km out to Fookin Little Island,
I dropped in Little Island fer me 6th job at 3.30am and high-tailed it back to the city,
even increasing my radius to 6km from my ever set 2km, passing by Glanmire (usually a hot-spot by night)
through all the East Southern burbs, through town and in to the Southern burbs proper.
No offer at all from 3.30am to 4am while on Ambassador/Priority,
and I would have taken any offer as I would have gotten an extra Pony fer the last fare.
I started out last night without priority and couldn't manage to get a bonus prebook to get instant priority, so after midnight I said I'd do 3 jobs and get priority for Sunday and Monday. Once I had the 3 jobs done I got reeled in to try for the 8 jobs for 30 quid, wasn't easy but got the last one at about 3am going from Swords to Balbriggan. Even found myself working Rats stomping ground around Darndale, I suppose you gotta do what gotta do.The Bobo's do tend to get us to work when we really don't want to (which is almost all of the time).
Sounds ghastly, Ken.Good fer you Stephen ! ::cheers
Fortunately I got started at 18:00 and picked up a couple of €40+ jobs facilitating a 23:00 finish letting the first generation immigrantss look after the late night shite while I watched the darts I'd recorded whilst enjoying a nice drop of Ishca Batha.
I dunno how your OCD deals with what would normally be decent fares when chasing a bonus, Wingnut. I took Drogheda by mistake (thought it was Boroimhe) from River Valley when I was chasing it one night of St. Bridget's weekend. Far side of Drogheda so a decent fare at 80 notes + gratuity but there's no way I woulda consciously accepted it. For me the bonus is all quantity over quality. c.€4 bonus for a €10-15 job is handy enough money but €4 on a €30 job doesn't even cover the freight.I would be the same, I did one going out of town a few weeks ago which was almost guaranteed to be coming home empty and had to hand over a Tenner in commission. The short fares with PUC are the sensible app jobs to take.
Fortunately Drogheda is a Free Now stronghold, Ken.The staff have my number for when FN isn't responding. The best job so far was Betaghstown.
I'd say you'd piss through 8 off the Kilmardinny alone, SB. Maybe I'll have to start working late and covering pub jobs to give you a dig out with it... to be fair, it's a decent darts pub anyway... or at least it was...
I've heard that some drivers might have a customer account on their phone......Jack tried that a few years back fer some Bobo offer, he got a Yellow card fer his troubles !
Giving your number to bar staff, that really is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Have you no self respect, SB?It's a quiet Wednesday, pensioner pints in the Killer, 15.00-18.00. You'd clean up. 8)
It would want to be cash only + PUC to make it anyway economical.Giving your number to bar staff, that really is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Have you no self respect, SB?It's a quiet Wednesday, pensioner pints in the Killer, 15.00-18.00. You'd clean up. 8)

They don't drink that much, it interferes with their medication. Plus it may be their only outlet. Trad music in the afternoon and cheap pints, and a game of darts, what's not to like?It would want to be cash only + PUC to make it anyway economical.Giving your number to bar staff, that really is scraping the bottom of the barrel. No way would I cover that kind of work but if it works fer you then so be it.
Bit early for me, SB. Anywaysanall, I'm not a fan of pub jobs at the best of times and certainly wouldn't accommodate bar staff who admit to only wanting me when there's no Free Now workers available. They can fuck right off!Get your own back by working ONLY when they're closed...that'll teach 'em! 8)
