Friday evening I received a call at 22:09 from a Free Now client (via 01 5920304) who believed I drove the relevant passenger from an address in Coolock @ 21:50 to a specified public house in the same area, informing me that the passenger had dropped a sum of money in my car. Problem is I never done the job... in fact I was on another Free Now job from Artane to Cloghran at the time which was my third Free Now job of the evening and neither of the other 2 matched either the pick up address or the drop off point.
So, I explain to the caller (who initially called me by name) that I had nothing to do with the job. 22:12 they ring back pretty insistant that I done the job and giving the distinct impression that they believe I half inched their used notes. Again I explained that I had nothing to do with the job and hadn't done any even vaguely similar job that evening. I advised them to contact support to find out who the driver was and they very reluctantly went away.
I contacted Free Now this morning and the first chap I spoke with wanted me to go up to the depot with the call log before we either got disconnected or he hung up! Anywaysanall, I rang back and spoke with another chap who said he'd look into it and let me know if/when they find out what went wrong. I asked him to contact the passenger and explain that the driver who's details were provided (me!) had nothing to do with the job which hopefully he will do.
Anyone who works my circuit will know that a lot of Free Now jobs involve people buying or selling drugs, often not the sort of people you want to get the 'erm end of the stick when it come to someone's hard earned going missing.

i had a dodgy one round a month ago.
i picked 3 yokes up outside margadh in howth.
two got in the back and a wan got in the front who was buckled.
she was going up the hill towards the summit first and then the ones in the back were going onta sutton cross.
when the yoke in the front was gettin out she said i can't find my phone. she dropped lotsa gick gettin out of the car and they were routin round the floor in the back the female yoke in the back says here it is. it was on the deck. the yoke says that's not my phone i'm after my real phone. so the phone was handed over to me.
it rang a few times that night. did'nt know howta answer it but charged it up.
the follyin day it rang and i managed to answer it. a french girl.

yes i have your blower. i found it. gimme your address and i'll drop it off.
it was some kip around grace o'malley road.
the phone rings again and i answer it. an aussie.

strooth anyway. we're in the boozer near the toilets along the pier. we'll meetcha outside it mate. i'm wearin wunna dem cowboy hats with the fuckin strings and the corks hangin off it. you'll see me ye cunt.
no problem i says and i rendez vous with them. i hand the phone out the window to them. where did ye find it they say.
it was on the floor in the back there.
we don't get taxis. we only live round the corner.

However, they do give the client your name and plate number. In this case, given that the client called me by name it's safe to assume that they have incorrectly given my name and plate number in respect of a job I had nothing to do with. While I'm not suggesting the client in question poses any danger it certainly wouldn't take long to find me from my plate number if they wanted to.

So you cover work in an area where no Bonus is offered to encourage others to operate (I wonder why ) then they send your ID to an Unknown who may wish to cause you harm .Your Doctor will need to see you and possibly perscribe Valium and Rest and you need to get exact details of what happened for that nice Girl that bites .You must be very anxious and feel terribly vunerable with your ID floating around .Has your retained Rothweiler contacted them yet on your behalf .

On looking at the facts of the case and after checking my own personal CUSTOMER FN app history.
I would guess that the person who rang you was a previous client of yours from less that 72 hours ago and they had gone to their FN customer history of trips which would show the name of the driver and also offer the option to contact the driver.
Only guessing here but most likely there was some element of chemical entertainment going on with the customer and again most likely he had rung every other taxi driver whose car they had been in fer the previous 72 hours.
FN do not on the Driver app offer the same 72 hour contact fer a driver to a customer and in reality it should be the same on the customer app. You leave something in the cab, contact support.

That is not true Octy, if you had done it properly like you stated, firstly you would have reported it to FN an that is the reply you would have got also stating that if you wish to pursue it with the Gardai then they would provide the Gardai with any help required.
But you didn't, you just went off on a rant never bothering to contact Gardai and with the vain hope that FN would give you the runner's phone number so as you could roar some abuse down the phone line at them.
FN don't give customers phone numbers to drivers under any circumstances and on looking at some of the nut-jobs on here using it (Octy especially) I reckon that is a pretty good policy.

I just do it the old fashion way Ken, I find it myself. In saying that I don't need to earn much these days. Semi-retired kinda.

Pretty much Ken yea. I told ya I don't need to earn much. I work to live Ken not the other way round. I'm planning a holiday in Sicily for September so I'll probably have to up the hours from the 20 or so that I do a week at the mo.

I don't work nights or weekends although I'll be working this weekend because I haven't worked all week so I could enjoy the sun. Some weeks I'd be lucky to do over 15 hours .

I don't really care what you believe Ken. My insurance is paid in full every year, I don't do drip anymore. Its up mid November and I'll start working on that at the beginning of October to pay it in full when it's due. I don't need much anymore to get by, everything's paid for. No rent or mortgage, no car payments. Both my kids are working so I'm not paying for them anymore. You'd be surprised how little one works when you don't have to. I've fcuk all in the bank but I don't give a shit. As I said I'm planning a holiday to Sicily so I'll probably have to do 25 to 30 hours for a while. And I would rather be on the dole than ever work nights in a taxi ever again. Horrible, horrible life. Never again.

At the moment I can easy get by on 20 hours a week working exclusively as a street hoe. My overheads aren't that big Ken. I use feck all petrol, my insurance is paid up front and I've no car payments or freight bill. I ain't losing nutin. That'd be your sorry ass. As usual.

Its trying to get to someone who's waiting on you, stuck in traffic, running late then the pox bags cancel as you're pulling up. Does my head in. I also hate waiting outside gafs for people. They're in there finishing their drink whilst you sit like a knob waiting on them. I also hate when palatic drunk ppl fall out of gafs and I've to boot off and cancel. More time wasted. I'm happy plodding around doing my own thing and deciding who gets into my car and who doesn't, not some poxy app that's stealing from your pocket on top of dictating to you. Fuck them and fuck their app.

Ken Tallaght is bigger than Cork City .Horse would know when Bingo is over certain fellas leave the pub at the same time every night .Local Drug dealers and shoppers dont use apps so you just drive the Highway a few GAA clubs and three or four busy venues .Horse could probably cover 20 jobs a shift and stay local .If I do a day shift I will be home by 8pm as most people going out are already out and anybody out is staying out .I go back out 10.15 Pm decide to head for Ballyer or Crumlin might put on Free now to get a start .Mc Gregors in Drimnagh usually has plenty of passing trade tourists who want to see his place plenty of pubs in Crumlin Village and plenty of late night shoppers usually boomerangs .Wouldnt go near Clondalkin Village tens of taxis parked up for hours just to do local runs .Its all a matter of knowing your plot .A simple hint follow the bus routes no use cutting through housing estates as most people looking for transport head twords the bus .
There is a skill to finding fares some lads never learned it they depend on apps or dispatchers .

Ken Tallaght is bigger than Cork City .Horse would know when Bingo is over certain fellas leave the pub at the same time every night .Local Drug dealers and shoppers dont use apps so you just drive the Highway a few GAA clubs and three or four busy venues .Horse could probably cover 20 jobs a shift and stay local .If I do a day shift I will be home by 8pm as most people going out are already out and anybody out is staying out .I go back out 10.15 Pm decide to head for Ballyer or Crumlin might put on Free now to get a start .Mc Gregors in Drimnagh usually has plenty of passing trade tourists who want to see his place plenty of pubs in Crumlin Village and plenty of late night shoppers usually boomerangs .Wouldnt go near Clondalkin Village tens of taxis parked up for hours just to do local runs .Its all a matter of knowing your plot .A simple hint follow the bus routes no use cutting through housing estates as most people looking for transport head twords the bus .
There is a skill to finding fares some lads never learned it they depend on apps or dispatchers .
The population of Tallaght is about 80k, the population of Cork city is about 250k.
Your points are well made John M, but still no way could Horse pay annual taxi expenses
and make a living better than dole money on a DAYS ONLY 15-20 hour week with no app or base.

Ever since covid I realised I can get by with a relatively small amount of money. 500 quid a week covers me and my taxi. Don't forget I don't live alone and my misses also has an income as do my two kids who are both working. My 500 is generally broken down into 100 for petrol and smokes (I don't smoke a lot), 200 towards the running of the gaf (we all chip in) and 200 for me to do as I wish. My 500 is generally got in 4 days doing around 5 or 6 hours a day which equates to 20-25 an hour. That's generally how I work. Now if I need extra, like a holiday in sicily with my son, then I will work more. Generally I work 20 to 25 hours a week and get by. Stop calling me a liar ya plank.

Your moving the goal posts Horse, originally it was 3 days, now it is 4.
Originally it was 15-20 hours, now it's 20-25.

I'm not moving any goal posts. Some weeks I only do 15 hours, some weeks half a day or 3 hours. I generally do around 20 hours over 4 days at the moment but I'll up that a bit now to save for sicily. Why are you so interested in my hours anyway? Just because you need an app to work doesn't mean it can't be done without it. I said it before, I work to live, end of story.
