No babies aged 0-3 years have yet been named amongst the dead of Hamas’s October 7th attack. The stories of beheaded babies, it now seems likely, were in fact weapons of mass destruction launched by experienced Israeli and American media warriors to enflame emotions and soften the ground for genocide. Within another few hours the story had mutated into “40 babies beheaded” and flew out of the mouths of influencers on countless news channels.
“Stranger Things” star Noah Schnapp was one who fuelled the fire, sending his 25 million Instagram followers this post: “40 babies were beheaded and burned alive in front of their parents by Hamas.”
President Biden said he had seen images of them, and said “I have been doing this for a long time, I never thought I would see – have confirmed pictures of – terrorists beheading children.” The White House quickly retracted his claim. The Hill warned that Biden is a “serial fabulist” – but the old boy had done his job: genocide is now easier for Israel to commit. 3000 Palestinian children now lie dead, along with a number of Israeli children, including at least one four-year-old killed in the Hamas attack. All civilian lives, especially children's, should be inviolate. No exceptions.
Parts of the media are now rowing back their claims. CNN anchor Sara Sidner said: "Yesterday the Israeli Prime Minister's office said that it had confirmed Hamas beheaded babies & children while we were live on the air. The Israeli government now says today it CANNOT confirm babies were beheaded. I needed to be more careful with my words and I am sorry."
Unlike the real victims of October 7 and unlike the hundreds of Palestinian babies who have been slaughtered by the Israelis, whose shattered bodies we’ve actually seen, these 40 fictive infants survived the attack and will be boxed up, ready for repackaging next time a monstrous lie is needed to justify war crimes.
Haaretz, Israel’s leading newspaper, which has been filled with war cries since the attack, has published details of over 930 named dead from the October 7 attack. As of the time of writing, not one baby aged 0 to three years old has been publicly identified. Not one. Let alone a beheaded one. Let alone 40.
Does that matter? Wasn’t what Hamas did sufficiently bad, evil, enough of a war crime to justify the revenge we are witnessing? Apparently not. But don’t ask me; ask Biden, Netanyahu, Ursula Von Der Leyen, Rishi Sunak and the thousands of western journalists who spat it into the faces of people trying to stand up for now-dead and soon-to-die Palestinians. When I raised my voice in defence of innocent Palestinian civilians, I was shouted down by friends, incandescent with rage over dead babies. Now when I raise my voice after hundreds of babies have been slaughtered in Gaza, I’m greeted with indifference by many of those same people. But the tide is turning … the arc of history must surely turn towards justice. Justice is the seed; peace is the flower.
Here is why this particular lie was so important to tell: When your business is genocide you want your victims to appear as evil as possible.
I’m Irish: we know what it is to be vilified, treated and described as animals, forbidden fundamental human rights, bombed and burnt into submission, to be driven off our land and to be starved into death or exodus. Dehumanising us was part of the project.

The Bible tells of the Jewish King Herod slaughtering new-borns as he tried to eliminate the little Babe Jesus. Mary and Joseph fled into Egypt (where the Israelis would like to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians of Gaza). The rest is history. Or not.
The bible story mutated over centuries into the famous Blood Libel that blamed the Jews not only for the death of Jesus but said Jews sacrificed, even ate, Christian babies in secret rituals. It was a Convenient Untruth used to justify mass murder and persecution of Jewish populations throughout Europe from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century.
But times change and the dead babies are assigned new duties.
Who remembers the dozens of babies thrown out of incubators by Iraqis soldiers at the hospital in Kuwait City in 1990? Millions of people across the world, me included, sat riveted by the testimony of a tearful young Kuwaiti woman called Nayirah who gave evidence at a crucial Congressional hearing that helped build support in the American mind for a holy war against Satan Saddam Hussein. Nayirah was working as a volunteer in a hospital when Iraqi soldiers burst in, removing the babies from incubators and tossing the wee mites onto the floor to die. Immediately following her testimony, which created a global media storm at the time, Chairman Rep John Porter, said: “We have never heard in all this time, in all circumstances, a record of inhumanity, brutality, and sadism as the ones the witnesses have given us today.”
Powerful. Moving. But a pack of utter lies.
The knowing and cynical Rep. Porter had asked that only Nayirah’s first name be used to protect her family. Good reason for that: Nayirah was the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Washington. She was a member of al-Sabah family, the ruling house of Kuwait, had never worked in a hospital, and, as she admitted much later, had never witnessed any babies being thrown out of incubators. Not one. What she had done was sit for days with Hill & Knowlton, the American public relations company used by the Pentagon to build war lust amongst the US population. Not a difficult thing to do. They scripted the story, coached the young princess and set the dead babies to work on gullible minds.
Rep. Porter told listeners that people in the “civilised” world must do everything in their power to remove this “scourge”. Shortly after Nayirah’s testimony A-10 Warthogs, Abraham tanks, cruise missiles and all the same sort of instruments of death now being used on Gazan civilians were unleashed on the Iraqis. Hundreds of thousands were killed or maimed. When challenged over the deaths of thousands of real Iraqi babies in a subsequent US blockade, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said: “This is a very hard choice but we think the price is worth it.”
The Incubator babies had helped lay the groundwork for such monstrous inhumanity. The beheaded babies of Israel have done their job too - allowing Netanyahu to say the assault on Gaza is a “holy mission”. Fellow Knesset MPs have called for a non-nuclear Hiroshima, a second Nakba, another bombing like that of Dresden - praising the resolution of the British and Americans in committing these acts. “It is time to be cruel,” Cabinet Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who leads the Religious Zionist Party, told the world last week.
The Americans and Israelis have two comparative advantages over any of their adversaries. Unrivalled ability to kill people. And storytelling. Nobody does it better.

Very true. That's the problem with modern 24 hour news; they have to fill that space and both sides know if they can push out their version first, it might become 'true'.
Another example. In America, they're using social media to make "Hamas = ISIS". But ISIS hates Hamas because they're too 'liberal'. And Hamas, aside from killing Jewish people, is apparently a social justice organisation, relatively liberal for that part of the world, and helps some/most people out.
There's no nuance in the news anymore.

So the issue is the Modern State of Israel was set up by the Brits and Yanks after WW2 along old lines in the Sand of the old State of Canna where Jesus turned water into Wine when he worked as a barman at a wedding .They evicted the Palastinians from a large part of it and the Palastinians/Arabs tried to wipe out the New Israeli State before it got up and running .They Failed .Now I am seeing the issue differently and from the Israeli side .They see Palastinians/Hamas /Hisbollah as a threat to their State and Security and are thinking rather that sharing the Land with the Palastinians two State Solution we need to push them out into the Deserts from which they came for our own Security and Peace .
It is some mess but if you go back to pre Jesus Times or Pre Islam .The Jews owned the Land and even 3000 years later they say they still own it .Is the endgame Israel will push the Palastinians out and the Palastinians will force Israel to destroy the thing they love .Really the more you look into this the more you see there is no Good outcome for anybody .Imagine having squatters in your Gaff and thinking that burning the house down is the best way of getting it back .

That argument doesn’t work, its like christians all over the world going to Nazareth or Jerusalem saying this is a christian land. Or muslims in Africa going to take over mecca because it is a moslem land.
Jews, christians, muslims existed in palestine for ages in peace before they created the Israel state on the basis of holy land

Both sides nearly had a deal with the 2000 Camp David Summit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Camp_David_Summit). The end result is disputed but apparently Arafat got cold feet and pulled out. Barak was the Israel PM then but Bibi (the current PM) was pulling strings in the background to collapse the deal.

It's a military tactic going back to 1000's of years. Burn all the houses and crops so your enemy has no means to survive.
@ mkahawani: As JohnM hinted, a big part of the problem is the way the Allies divided up the Middle East (and Africa) after WW2. They just drew lines on a map without thinking of the consequences. A lot of the indigenous peoples lived basically in tribal groups. Even now many of the Middle East Arab countries are just cities in the desert that call themselves countries. Suddenly they lived in countries with real power and real weath to be had. And then the internal civil fighting started.

Yes watty I understand how coutries got chopped up in pieces after WW1 and 2, but specifically Palestine wasnt like that, it was waves and waves of European jews immigrants that went over there, pushed people up and based on bible history created the Israel state, its an idea that was floating around for some time as John said.
I think Eu and America is losing credibility very fast in the eyes of the world if Bibi can stand on a podium and use bible history to justify Genocide. It is not great for world security atall.

Can't disagree with either of you other than to say America has been in terminal decline for some time now. A lot of countries are pissed off with America lecturing them when America is just as bad/dirty as everyone. else. And as JohnM wrote, America is quite happy to kill foreign politicians they don't like.

MAK BiBi can do what he likes because he controls the 3% .In the far far long ago when I studied Politics I wrote a Paper on 3% and it has turned out to be correct .Here is how it goes .If you can control 3% of the Vote you can take Power .in Ireland with our transferable vote system If you can get 3% more first prefrence votes than the next party you will get 9 more seats .It should be 5 as 3% of 166 is five seats but you will get 9 it just works that way .So Leo or Mick will always play any Minority Gay, Lesbian,Greens ,Protestants dosent matter what you represent as long as you can deliver 3% on Election Day .

Having said that, Trump is starting to lose it (verbally etc) in his public appearences. Did you see that video of him just discovering that US (United States) is spelled the same as us (the American people)? Not sure if he's finally cracked under the legal pressures or if he's setting himself up for an insanity/dementia plea.

What`s glaringly missing is no videos of "atrocities committed" have surfaced on social media. I haven`t seen footage of mass burials in Israel. I seen a shot of body bags loaded into what looked like an open pen, piled on top of each other , alledgedly Israeli casualties. If so, the Israelis had scant regard for dignity of their dead. Israel/Zionists need more land/liebensraum and they`re expanding into the Gaza/Warsaw ghetto.

I guess I'm not surprised but the vast majority of the reporting has been so one-sided and any dissenting voices are attacked quite strongly. It seems to me that a lot of public opinion is sympathetic to the Palestinians but you don't see in the media. Public protests in the UK in support of them are considered criminal and people are getting arrested. I saw one article that the police are investing someone who wore a Hamas costume for Hallowen!
For over 50 years, the BBC basically had a neutral reporting stance. They didn't call groups terrorists or freedom fighters or whatever. But now they can't say the word Hamas without saying the UK Govt considers them terrorists. So much for unbiased reporting!
And for me, universities are places where you go a bit mad and spend a few years being radical and solving all the world's problems because you're 21 and you know best. But, in America, the kids and lecturers are being punished for having a different opinion to the politicians.
Nobody's mentioning that Israeli citizens are attacking & killing Palestinians in the West Bank or that the Israeli Govt told the Gazans to move south and now they're bombing those supposed 'safe' places.

Re the statues: The 1916 into the Civil War was a very difficult time for many Irish people and apparently it was common to have brother fighting/shooting brother. I believe, even to this day, that some families don't talk about it. And FF, FG and SF meant different things back then to what they do nowadays. McDonald appeared alongside the convicted bomber and hard-line Belfast IRA figure Brian Keenan at the event in Fairview Park beside a statue of Sean Russell, who died while on a German U-boat off the west coast during the Second World War.
Fianna Fail's Eoin Ryan yesterday called on McDonald to explain to Dublin voters why she "stood shoulder to shoulder with a brutal IRA bomber less than nine months ago to honour a friend of the Holocaust".
Mr Ryan, one of two Fianna Fail European election candidates in Dublin, said that while the rest of Europe was commemorating the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the start of the liberation of Europe, McDonald was prepared to celebrate a Nazi collaborator.
He said: "As Europe gathers this weekend, on Normandy's D-Day beaches, to honour the memory of those heroic men and women who sacrificed their lives in World War II to liberate Europe and defeat the horror of Nazism, I ask Mary Lou to let the people of Dublin know what she stands for.
"The EU grew out of a determination that Europe would never again experience the tyranny of a dictator like Hitler. You say you want to be a MEP, yet nine months ago you celebrated the memory of a Nazi collaborator. Russell, like others who freely aided the Nazis, is reviled today across Europe, and rightly so.
"McDonald thinks nothing of speaking at commemorations to honour a Nazi collaborator and his contemptible memory. While "much of the treaty has been agreed to ... there are some matters that are important to the United States and other countries that remain unresolved," and these "need to be resolved before the treaty can be signed, so these processes will take into next year," Yellen told reporters in Luxembourg, where she met with EU finance ministers

“A VERY BIG moment” is how those in government have described the upcoming decision on the Apple tax case next week.
The European Court of Justice confirmed recently that an opinion by the Advocate General on the Apple case will be arrived at on 9 November.
There is a definite nervousness felt around the decision from an Irish government perspective, as a lot is riding on it.
The entire saga has been playing out for over seven years now and has been a shadow hanging over Ireland’s foreign direct investment stronghold.
While many would perhaps like another €13 billion to be added into the Exchequer coffers, Apple and successive Irish Governments have consistently made the argument that tax is not owed.

If the appeal wins out, the money will have to be paid to the Irish State.

Back in 2020, the General Court of the European Union ruled in favour of Apple and the Irish State’s legal challenge against the Commission’s order for the allegedly unpaid taxes to be handed over.
Previously, the EU General Court sided with Apple and the Irish State, and said that the Commission failed to prove that the company had received tax advantages from the Irish state.
The Commission moved to appeal that decision in September 2020.
EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said at the time that the General Court had made a “number of errors of law”.
Now, the Court of Justice of the European Union will have the final say on the matter.
Earlier this year, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the view taken by the European Commission that Ireland had a special tax arrangement with Apple that was not available to other countries “is simply untrue”.
The original tax bill was just over €13 billion, but as the case has dragged on the total assets in the Ireland-Apple escrow account have fallen.
Last month, figures in the Comptroller and Auditor General showed the assets reduced last year by €259 million to €13.374 billion from €13.633 billion in 2021.

So what would happen if Ireland loses the case and the final decision is that we can take the €13 billion?

The government’s belief is that the Irish State wouldn’t be able to just pocket all the money, as a whole raft of countries would be making claim to the money in the pot.
Ultimately, the Irish government does not want to be in that situation – it wants to win the case, but doesn’t want the money.
If the Commission were to be successful, the inference would then be that Ireland made a special agreement with a single company through its tax law, with those in government stating that the consequences of that for Ireland’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) model overall and for the companies already situated here would be “very significant”.

AP is reporting Mr Netanyahu has suspended Mr Eliyahu from cabinet meetings until further notice. Mr Netanyahu earlier said on social media his remarks were “divorced from reality”.
AP notes the move to suspend Mr Eliyahu has no practical effect, as he was not a member of the decision-making war cabinet formed in the wake of the Hamas October 7th surprise attack inside Israel.

Defence minister Yoav Gallant also criticised Mr Eliyahu, saying: “It’s a good thing that people like this are not in charge of Israel’s security.”
Israel’s military had urged Palestinian civilians in Gaza to seek refuge as it focuses its military offensive in the northern areas.
Despite such appeals, Israel has continued its bombardment across the territory, saying it is targeting Hamas fighters and assets everywhere and accusing Hamas of using civilians as human shields.
Israel claims it has struck “over 2,500 terror targets” in war on Hamas.
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has put the death toll from what it says were Israeli airstrikes on the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza at 33 or more, with 42 wounded. – Guardian

Pesonally I gave up following this story, just like I did with the Ukraine story.
Both seem to be just propoganda wars, every bomb dropped seems to land on a school or a hospital, deaths and casualties are greatly mutiplied/exadurated, and everyone has their hand out with the begging bowl in it.
Palestine and Israel have been At It fer the past 57 years and neither of them seem to have any intention of finding Peace !

Did we ever find out who actually bombed that first hospital in Gaza, Israel said it was a Hamas bomb and vice-versa ??
Either way it must have been some size of a shell to kill about 400 people in one go, even during the years of the Troubles and some very big bombs the highest death casualty from a single bomb was only at about 30.
