Rules around the delivery of alcohol could be tightened up, as part of the Sale of Alcohol Bill.

The Oireachtas Committee on Justice has published a number of recommendations for the bill, which aims to simplify alcohol licensing laws.

Chairperson James Lawless said the labyrinthine laws had to be consolidated and modernised.

In relation to the delivery of alcohol, the Fianna Fail TD for Kildare North said: "You can actually buy a bag of cans and have it sent to...your house, but this is a phenomenon where young people, typically, are ordering crates of beer on the back of a Deliveroo driver and into maybe a public park or green, I think most people would agree that's not a healthy way to have things."

It is recommended that age-verification is introduced at point of delivery to combat abuse of delivery services.

Other recommendations include that the alcohol industry should contribute towards the costs of alcohol-related harms to the State, that sufficient transport services are provided to cover late night services and that bar staff be protected with specific legislation. 8)

There is no money in it any more 1990 I did it successfully fer a few years, long since retired and it was good in the recession years, but today I can make more legally on fares, than selling Bootleg illegally.

You also put a kid in hospital to get pumped.
Don’t think you would like it if a taxi driver was selling booze to your kids.

I wonder which government department would be responsible for the uninsured, unlicenced, pedocabs selling drugs and delivering alcohol to houses late at night?

Not selling alcohol but picking it up for someone.
