Title: Freight Increase?
Post by: Rat Catcher on January 19, 2024, 04:57:15 pm
... for drivers who work for Free Now.

Just had a call from the depot enquiring why I opted out of hospitality jobs. Told them they're too expensive and had a little moan about why anyone would pay extra to collect drunks from pubs. Forgot to ask about the new cancellation policy but it was probably a scripted survey anyway.

Did you mention that you didn't want to be party to allegations of corruption?

....... Forgot to ask about the new cancellation policy .....
The FN cancellation policy was fer a long time, Don't Pay unless they request it and continued long after they told us it was automatic ??  I know, I had a few last year and after requesting a Scrub I got told that I had not phoned the customer and I had to take a screenshot of my phone record to prove I did and send it to them before they gave me the Fiver Scrub fee.

But I had 3 over the Chrimbo and unexpectantly got paid fer all 3.

Not that, Ken. I think the rules on that are that you have to work like the proverbial black to get compensated for no contacts... sure what's a fiver when they're collecting 2 ton plus in freight!

What I don't know is how the disciplinary process works. Last time I cancelled a job (from the traveler pub in Ballymun, I kid you not) a message flashed up on the screen stating that I'll get suspended for 24 years or some such if I cancel 6 more. Is there a time limit attached to the 7 cancellations i.e. is it 7 per month, 7 per year or do you just get sacked when you hit the magnificent 7 without any reset?

Yes, from 01-556 9006 @ 16:10 yesterday. I think the lady termed it as a survey of drivers who opted out from hospitality jobs or some such.

If they're conducting a survey I guess they got a significant number of opt-outs... maybe they'll remove the €2 hospitality fee and increase freight to 25% to compensate?

It had been alleged that in the past that a taxi company owner persuaded drivers to pay hoteliers a bribe of about €2.00,  this was trumped by a D.8 cab firm offering €3.00 per airport run. Whether these bribes are added to the metered fares is anyone's guess.

Porterage applied at some hotels back in the 90s. IR£1 was the norm but the porter trousered that... Free Now are giving managers what was once the porters' money.
