I noticed when one rejects or ignores Free Now Jobs of a Saturday/Sunday afternoon/evening they more often than not pop up again as "Prioity Taxi" jobs with a €3 bonus. I'm guessing the client is given the opportunity to pay a surge fee of up to €20 with €3 being offered to the driver. Anyone know if that's how it works?

I used to think it was a pre-booked job that nobody picked up so they were trying to fob it off on the general driver population. But RC's guess sounds more likely. Robbin' basturds >:D

I THINK that when a customer requests a Priority job the tech fee increases to a Fiver fer the customer.
FN then send out the job with no bobo attached hoping to trouser the full tech fee, if no driver accepts it then it is offered out again with a promise of 'Priority status' fer the driver (which he already might have), again if no driver accepts that offer the the €3 bobo is added and sent out again, Etc.
It is a strange and flawed system, in recent times after dropping in the satelitte town of Carrigaline 10km outside of Cork city, I have twice been offered the Pink flagged Bobo job with a cash incentive to take a customer back to Cork city, if the job had a Bed logo on it I still would have taken it just to get paid to go back to the city.

They do that too but they only offer the Bobo after the first round of offers have been refused, most usually it is not that the offer has not been accepted but some b@stard taxi driver took it earlier and then Fooked it back.

It's all very confusing, Ken... I was never part of the Reserve Fleet yet routinely received 'Reserve Taxi' offers. I didn't have priority last Saturday yet received several 'Priority Taxi' offers after rejecting or ignoring the same jobs as run of the mill everyday offers.
However, I reckon you're probably right in concluding that they add the surge fee before the first (bonusless) offer goes out given that the jobs do seem to bounce back with the bonus quite quickly.

I accepted an airport from the Artane ryndabyte last night. Only when I was processing it for the sum of €21.80 did I realise the poor sucker must have pressed the wrong button and I got a €10 bonus.
Coincidentally, she was going to Barcelona for an academic conference to do with platform technology and the so-called gig economy.
-
I THINK "Reserve fleet" is just some fancy name that FN dreamed up to try to get more folk to use the Priority option, and I THINK that the Reserve fleet is ALL FN drivers.

what are these €3 and €4 bonuseses attached to jobs you see sporadically? how are they calculated and do you actually get sent the €3 and €4.

They use to be Pink flagged across the top of the job offer before but the colour has changed in recent times, but anyway the job offer will show as a Bonus job and show you what bonus is on offer. If it is an accont job then the bonus shows on your payout immediately, if it's a non-app payment then the Bonus will show in your next statement under scrubs and bonuses paid to you.
I have had a good few "Instant Priority" and €3 and €5 Bobo offers but I have never seen a Tenner one.

It seems to be the surge pricing jobs. Free Now charge surge fees of up to €20 and seemingly dispatch the job as normal in the first instance. If it's not taken they offer Instant Priority with it and if it's still not taken they offer a €3 bonus and if it's still not taken they offer a €4 bonus and if it's still not taken they offer a €5 bonus.
It's a strange form of regulation on the part of NTA. Drivers may not charge any more than the metered fare including the PUC which hasn't increased in c.20 years but licensed dispatch firms may charge whatever they like... all why we're reading reports of drivers having to live in homeless shelters. I guess it's fairly obvious that Free Now controls Minister Ryan and NTA through "lobbying" (bribery).

I had a strange priority offer last Fri night/Sat morning, after dropping in the delights of 'Knocka' at 5am I was heading back fer civilisation with the app on (card only) and half way back to town I got an offer fer 800 meters away going to the airport with a Fiver Bobo attached ??

If it was 5am in the morning, the guy probably woulda paid anything to be sure to be sure to get to the airport?

The Strange part was that it was first offered with a Fiver Bobo, I had the app open fer a good 5 minutes before it was first offered and would have happily taken it without the Bobo.
-
Maybe it was a pre-book and the other driver didn't turn up. 5-10 mins would be an eternity if you were waiting for a taxi to drive you to the airport for 2 weeks of sun, sea, and... sangria :P

Got threatened off them again this mornin for acceptance rate ....
Wer they go to business school auschwitz ? rofl
If ther goin to giv all the good jobs to the licky lackys an giv me all the junkies an owlones wit shoppin trolleys to ther gaff 200 feet away from the shop of course I'm goin to fuk8n reject them .....silly cnuts

I started to use the Freenow app again after I forgot why I was annoyed with them....and after two days I got blocked for 24 hours for cancelling jobs.I don't cancel for no reason.
Usually it's because I accepted a job by accident as I've already got two other apps running. It's a mad policy because when I was barred I just covered more for their competition.Always make sure yous have a back up apps lads or yis will be back parking outside of Spar shops or following the Aircoach around at 5am...

If they cancel after a certain amount of time they get charged.I'm usually gone if I don't get any communication within the first two minutes.Never really happens on Bolt or Uber.Freenow have a huge problem with people not being ready to go.

I've noticed jobs offered with Priority attached(instant hails) doesn't always give you Priority status or whatever, got a couple of those €3 bonus jobs this morning....Uber was very generous this morning...trip to airport...100+ drivers in queue...got an offer before I left Terminal 1....going to Mayeson......got a follow up offer from Mayeson heading back to airport...again 100+ drivers in queue.....got another offer heading back to John Rog Qy....then got a FN heading to T2

Shame on FN expecting professional drivers to do their kinda simple professional job, do they not realise we have other things to be doing rather than fulfilling job offers that we have accepted !
-
Juggling three apps and navigating through busy traffic is difficult sometimes. They will be sorry when they ban too many drivers. All this policy achieves is to make lads sign up to the competing apps.I've been able to work for months without Freenow...24 hours is easy.
-
The radio/Apps are busy when the streets are busy.

How hard can it be to voluntarily accept a job and do it ? ::fight
-
Sometimes you accept a job by mistake while you were in the middle of trying to accept another.I've only got one phone screen but the apps do try to open on top of each other.
There are situations where I'll cancel a Freenow job to take an Uber if one comes in shortly afterwards.3% is a big deal.

13% to 15% = 2%.
Are you the Stoopidist Taxi driver out there MFH ?
Basic math seems beyond you !
Getting needless fines fer not displaying Taxi ID or county D stickers, Etc.... because you couldn't be bothered ?
Getting banned from app's fer cancelling voluntarily accepted jobs and then changing your mind ?
And to make matters worse you reckon that it's everyone else's fault !!

Belker's feeling frustrated this morning and lashing out rofl

Yu don't understand the mindset of a non licky lacky Ken....wen yur gettin shite jobs all the time an sometimes yu accept a good job an then it's gone to a lick arse after
ya accept it .....ya tend not to giv a bollix about fn anymore ......an yu also take uber jobs wen ther offered after yuv accepted an fn job cause yuv nuttin but contempt for fn an ther unfairness ....ther threats of banning ya an threats of acceptance rates an all that absolute horse shite means ya end up completely ignoring the cnuts an only take wat suits yu cause thers " no loss "
They really are livin in the 19th century.......
Most on here are at a time in life an financially secure enough to delete it if we want to ......
Ther shite way of treating people may work on the desperate immigrants they employ from Afghanistan.....but the rest of can tell them to shove it up ther arse

@Belker I'm paying 12% on Uber so it's enough to make a difference at the end of the year.It just so happens I get tipped on Uber sometimes but with Freenow that's rare thing thanks to the technology fee.
15-12=3 still but I'm not a smart man like you Belker...

Has the No Contact Fee policy changed again?
I got paid one last week yet I only completed 14 jobs for the week, 8 before the relevant job, with an acceptance rate of 44% and a cancellation rate of 6%. I thought you had to do a minimum of 20 jobs or some such to get no contact fees?
-
Got paid as promised this week as per extract from payslip below:

Panic over for me but anyone else with these unexplained partial rebates should follow them up, I guess.

Have any of ye had this problem with freenow, I got a job I went the fare but before I could get into the 300 zone before you can press arrived the pickup had contacted me and moved down the road to meet as the traffic was crap, i started the meter but couldn't do anything else with the app it just wouldn't let press arrived to get into payments. I was completely blocked from working the app and I was owed 17 euro the passenger showed me her apple pay and free now did a preauthorisation of 18 euros, so I said head off I'll deal with it as it's not your fault, the traffic was shit and she needed to get to a train in 20 mins. Are free now easy to contact on the phone and do they have is all tracked. About 25 mins after I got the job the job cancelled which freed up everything but I'm 17 yo yos down.
-
I don't think I've ever had that exact problem. But the app has frozen on me plenty of times before or even during a job! I find if I 'force close' the app and restart it, all the data comes back and the app works.
AFAIK, the data is kept on the 'central computer' in Germany or wherever and it just sends us data as we need it. So if you force close the app and restart it, the central computer just sends you all the data again and you're good to go (in theory). I used to get annoyed about it but then once I accepted the app is consistently crap, my calmness returned O:-)

Keep us posted on this C5.
I have often wondered about such a scenario where the customer walks out to meet the incoming taxi and walks more than 300 meters beyond their home/pick-up destination to meet him. Does the taxi then have to drive back to within 300 meters to start the job ?
-
@belker I phoned them and a nice Dublin fella answered and he said they are keeping the 300 metre thing because of abuse of some sort I think he said hitting it to early or something like that, then the passenger is waiting longer then they think, but there is an update coming for the passenger side of the app where it live tracks them so if they come out of a large industrial estate to meet you it will free up the arrived button, but it's an opt in only but he said everything is tracked and stored he saw where I arrived and dropped off, just keep the receipt when you ring and explain what happened and tell them the fare and distance covered so they see the same figure on their end. If they pay via the app they take a preauthorisation of the fare so your safe there if it's cash your ok but you still contact them or they will ring you or email you on what the problem was. But in the end you get your fare. My fare was logged and I'll be paid for it as normal next Wednesday. Jesus Christ I just realised nearly wrote a novel there.
-
Had a broadly similar one where I lost connectivity so the arrived button didn't work until I regained connectivity out of range. I just told the client the app isn't working so cash was required. Once you cancel the job the hold on their funds ought to be returned in due course.
-
@ C5, thanks fer that very infomative post. ::cheers

Thats a new trick that i have recently taken on board, after dropping in the many towns outside the city by night and turning on the app hoping fer a job back to the city it often sends out very short local jobs within the town that are not really worth the effort, but if you reject them then very often they pop back up in a minute with a Bobo attached.
