I had to read this story 3 or 4 times to fully understand it. Imagine this guy on a e-Scooter! oops
Man who lead armed gardai on high speed chase fails to have 40 year ban overturned (https://www.sundayworld.com/crime/courts/man-who-lead-armed-gardai-on-high-speed-chase-fails-to-have-40-year-ban-overturned/a1151704336.html)
Basically he was representing himself and appealing a 40 year ban for road traffic stuff he did in 2013 (Court case was 2015). He claimed the ban was 'ridiculous' and he'd not come to Gardai attention 'in over 7 years.'
The Garda Inspector then stood up and said there were a few problems with his application:
1. He was already serving a 40 year ban from 2011
2. He'd picked up another 19 road traffic offences since 2015 and these included:
2a. A further 40 year ban in 2017
2b. A 20 year ban in 2018
2c. A 4 year ban in 2023
Then there was a bit of legalese (you have to serve half the ban before you can appeal) but finally the judge said no.
God loves a trier! rofl

Dean [Lantherin'] Devine Jaysus.
My former taxi-driving Alcoholic brother got a four-year ban after being caught drink-driving twice in one day.
He worked on the despatch for City Cabs then got his licence back after two years.
It didn't stop him from drinking from 10.30 until 18.30, stumbling home, eating a curry then going to bed.
He'd fall out of the bed at about 03.30 and go to work in the cab [still over the limit no doubt] and do it all over again.

I had an old mate taxi colleague who done similar, started work every night/morning about 3.30am and always over the limit early morning. Some might remember me looking fer help on here a good few years back of how to get him sectioned fer his own benifit after him being hospitalised fer having a seizure in a pub while on a serious binge in 2016, checking himself out of the hospital the next day in just his surgical gown and walking off to the pub.
Unfortunately his daughter would not sign the required next of kin form back then to section him against his will.
Unfortunately, (to quote FDS) he took the "Blue rope and the Wobbly stool" route a few years later and I always wondered did he get caught drink-driving before he done it ??

my dad would go out in the morning and go gargling mid day then come home for grub then go back out for the evening shift and then go gargling at night 7 days a week. he always smelled like gargle, smoke and toothpaste to mask the peggy dell on his breath. he was never ever drunk though.

Those were the days.
Fair play to the Ebbseseses for employing your brother while he couldn't (or shouldn't) drive, SB. Maybe your hatred of Irish (dispatch) firms is rooted in some form of brotherly rivalry?
I know one ex colleague/competitor who got banned for drink driving but was never asked for his licence so he kept it and kept working throughout the banned period with no issues. It's a great little country!
