Usually i see a little 1 inch bar at top that I tink it says
" answer" ?
-
That happens if I get a call from a non customer but if the customer tries to call in app I cannot answer it .
-
If your phone is synched to the MG5, the answer/hang-up buttons are on the centre console screen?
Alternatively, text them that you're deaf so can't take a phone call :P
-
Did you get the question "GIVE FREE NOW ACCESS TO CALLS "--
Check settings --go into Apps and check permissions !

Had to press the bluetooth symbol on my phone nua, if memory serves. In any event, whatever I did, it works now so give support a call or drop in to the depot if you can't figure it out through trial and error.

How do you manage to stop the printer printing a receipt every time ?

If you haven't fitted a switch to knock it off, take the roll off the feed system until you need a receipt.

I put tape over the little white sensor inside the printer under where the roll goes which seems to work.Otherwise the meter will stay on "printer busy" message. To get it printing again I just install the roll quicky every couple of days as needed.
Some on here have gotten similar results by leaving the printer door partially open.Apart from the fact that paper has gotten much more expensive like a lot of stuff the car fills up with paper after a week's work so it's worth trying to sort.
-
With the semitron ones you just have to leave the little door ajar and it doesn't print. Just close it when you need one. The hale used to do my head in. The meter won't work unless there's paper in it so you have to print a receipt every time. Such a waste of paper as only one in every 20 or so want a receipt.

Switch on either of the +/- leads, Ken. I repurposed my old roof sign switch to further improve the environment. Another option is to switch off the ignition for a few seconds after every job (AFAIK all SDA installations have the meter switched through the ignition) but that'd be a right pain in the bottom, IMO.
Mine's a Hale Microtax 5 (as is Ken's unless he's changed it recently) Horse and the switch works fine. I only almost ran out of paper* because I relocated my printer inside a little mini glove box and forgot to switch it off after an extremely rare request for a paper receipt - out of sight, out of mind.
* have to catch mine before the roll expires 'cos the feeder buttons don't work anymore so, bar taking the thing apart, the new roll needs to be fed behind the old roll and a receipt reprint carried out. Fortunately it generally only needs changing when it goes yellow, after c.2.8 years.
-
Just to clarify, Ken. I should have said AFAIK all SDA installations have the printer (not the meter) switched through the ignition i.e. they wire the printer to an ignition switched circuit. The meter is wired to a constant circuit... in both cases seemingly randomly cutting into existing circuits with no regard for the consequent over-current warnings generated by the vehicles OBD systems!

Same with the ATA meters, just leave the door a bit ajar. Just bought my 2nd roll after ~3 years! I actually bought two - just in case :P
They should change the rule. I only get a request for a paper receipt maybe once a year. People who need a receipt almost always use an app or pay with card.

I tell punters to always ask for a printed receipt, no receipt = a free trip. Or a trip to the Garda station. They're operating illegally

My new Taxitronic Mirror Meter won't return to For Hire unless there's paper in it...the printer is built in to the Meter.

Ran out of rolls and had none in new car so had to reuse the old paper by rolling it back on to the roller.Recycling the paper Eamo would be proud of me .

I used to have a switch fitted but had to take it out fer the last car change over in 2020 as my meter guy would not do any NTA work on an illegal meter, which as it happened was a blessing because the suitability inspector at the intial suitability test that year was all over the meter checking every side of it. I never bothered putting the switch back on after that.
Also my printer feeder does not work similar to what Rat Catcher posted earlier.

I have a hale meter and printer and the meter will operate without paper.

On my old 08 that was the case and I could turn off the ignition to stop the meter printing but after the meter being re-fitted to my nua cab in 2020 that does not work anymore and a receipt is issued every time.

I do still have the Hale microtax 5 which also has a broken printer feeder and do as you do above.
I have been caught a few times with the roll running out and have tried various methods to get the roll back through.
What works fer me (after much anguish over the years) is to use a thin piece of cardboad about the size of a credit card and then double over the end of the receipt roll over the slot inserting the paper sized CC in to the fold and ramming in it to the printer. Does that make sense ??
What I use is the paper card the bank sent me years ago with my account number on it. It'a fine balacing act because the plastic CC is too big and oviousley you cant ram anything in with a piece of flimsy plain paper.

I gave up trying to bypass the meter printer fer reasons stated above.
Today I just buy 100 at a time online from discount till rolls which is a Dublin-based company.
100 rolls cost me 60 Euro the last time I bought them which works out at .60 cent per roll.

My hale absolutely did not work without paper in the printer Ken. The metre simply said no paper and would change until I fed paper into it. Poxy piece of crap. Glad to see the back of it. My semitron mirror metre would kick the shit out of the horrible hale's.

How much was the Taxitronic Mirror meter and printer Hal?
Irish websites don't like putting up prices. I think they were all born in Cavan.

Big Dommos cousins girlfriends gay mates sisters best friend works in a corner shop near the chipper beside the flats and I get the rolls for the credit card machines off of her because she likes me .They fit the printer.

To Stephen, a small amendment to what I stated above, it is actually a 'Gift of Life' paper donor card that I use to help insert the new roll in to the Hale printer and not the paper bank card. The paper Donor card is the perfect size fer the above procedure.
If'n your intent on applying fer such then maybe best not to mention that you require the paper Donor card fer Taxi meter printer repair problems ??
Anyways'n'all you can get them here fer Free;

I forgot to switch mine on for the LRA a few years back, Ken. When the inspector said he couldn't print a receipt and I said I think I know what's wrong there he just told me to have a look at it and he'd come back in a few minutes. 8 minutes later he came back, printed his receipt and went back for the stickers... Happy days!
In any event, it'd be easy enough to bypass the switch for the test, it'd just look like an obsolete roof sign switch or you could spend another minute at it and remove it completely. I think I did that once, probably the first year we had printers.
-
Your Hale musta been a newer model, Horse. I got my Microtax 5 from some Norn Iron based republicans working out of a shed in Finglas back in 1999/2000... on entry liberalisation. I remember discussing the fact that all the established meter installers were afraid to fit meters in cars with plata nuas (although some were doing it on a very cloak and dagger basis) and the man doing mine suggesting that he was more to be feared than to fear... or words to that effect!
-
I'm not sure rats but the metre definitely did not work without paper in the printer. It simply said "no paper" on the metre and would not function until paper was fed into it. Right pain in the hole it was.
