He mentioned his older, not-so-old son won a trip to China.I'm going to China next week, MfH... Ifn I see the BYD plant I'll drop in and see ifn they have any T shirts and key rings for you... I might even get a copy of the company song... does the car have a CD payer (@Panel that's a new fangled tape deck)!

There's a woman has a stall in the basement area of Charlestown S.C. that sells keyrings like that. Her sister (I guess) has a stall next door that does tailoring and clothes repair. They call themselves the Two Oul Wans Shop :P

Bought smokes in Beijing. Seem OK to me, not sure why they'd fake them, they have some of the biggest producers on the planet and little or no duty.

The drink is fake
Some of the cigs are fake made in garages etc
The food is dodgy they eat what we throw away

Didn't get the shits anyway but bar a few snacks here and there our meals were included. Breakfasts were all pretty varied buffets typical of any 4/5 star hotel in any developed country. I'd say most of the restaurants we were brought to were western focused. If they gave westerners the shits they'd lose the big tour companies, I guess. I did buy some barely cooked chicken in a bar though that I couldn't risk eating!
Bought some of their "Firewater" but it was the brand recommended by our guide, not sure how I'd know if it's fake... once it hits the spot!
However, one would question what happens to all the genuine smokes and gargle they produce if the big supermarkets and duty free shops at airports are sourcing fake stuff?
We were told to avoid buying smokes and gargle in the markets and warned that the clothes in markets would be poor quality fakes... then they brought us to an outlet type place where they suggested we could buy better quality designer label knock off clothing! All I bought myself was 3 pairs of "Calvin Klein" jocks for about €6 that are allegedly made of bamboo or some such as I was almost out of clean ones. Probably coulda got 'em for less ifn I took more interest in the negotiating game!

I think duty free limits still apply to Turkey but at them prices I guess you could take a risk with quite a few and still be ahead if you only got the allowed 2 cartons through!

I pay €52 per 200 JPS black 100s in Barcelona, duty paid. €15.xx per 20 pack in ROI. Can buy slightly cheaper in the market but they never have 100s and they're probably fake... I recall a "factory" being found in West Dublin recently. The probably genuine Eastern European packs/brands (Marlboro most popular) sell at 70/carton on the black market but they never have the long ones (100s) either.

Actually I think the duty free allowance is only 1 carton per person in ROI.... 2 cartons in Belfast!

That's the EU (duty paid) guide, TD42. In fact, you can bring as many as you like from within the EU provided they are for personal use as per:

I generally buy around double the guideline quantity as above and I haven't yet been required to demonstrate that they are for my personal use. AFAIK, such a demonstration is rarely sought and most likely entails signing a declaration to such effect. However, a receipt proving that they are duty paid may be required. I guess it's also notable that tobacconists in Spain are required to examine and record your personal ID (passport No.) for sales of larger quantities, not sure what level that kicks in at but mine is recorded on the system in the shop I use.
However, I don't think Turkey is in the EU yet so duty free limits would apply there:
