An idea.

In the future, after you accept the job, immediately ring the punter and tell them who you are and what you're driving.

Tell them rogue operators are working near Heuston and Free now won't guarantee their safety if they are enticed into the wrong car.

It might just work.

Seen an add on a van today delivering car parts looking for drivers .Cant remember the Company three letters something lik AVX auto parts .Might give them a bell if I can remember or find the name .That Day work is shite and the new traffic is going to do your head in after 25th and kids back in school .If anybody knows the name of that company stick it up .Think it might of been the crowd who use to be in Baldoyle ?

Take whatever you can, wherever you can.The old rules are out the window.Nothing is out of bounds anymore.

There's a steady flow of drivers going into Heuston when the trains are due these days, many are old timers .If I ever take anything in there it's because no longer feel the need to send the work around to a load of pensioners with nothing to do all day except sit on the longest rank in Dublin outside of the Kesh.

No hard feelings pensioner scum.

If ever I'm dropping off in Whitney and someone asks me am I free I always answer them truthfully as I'm a terrible lier and tell them yes, I am free. I had your man in the high vis one day taking photos of me reg coz I was picking up at the tracks. Told him to jog on, the passenger is my brother in law.

Like the cu*ts that used to reverse onto the front of a taxi queue/rank.

There's a lot of snatching on Free Now. In general clients just want to get from A to B so if they eHail a cab from a bar, for example, they don't pay a lot of attention to what car is allocated - they're probably in conversation or maybe put their phone away to urinate before leaving or whatever. Hence when they go outside they may or may not ask any of the taxis queued up or dropping off if they've been allocated the job. The best way to avoid such disappointment is not to accept jobs from pubs, transport terminals, etc when you know there's plenty of cars available in those locations.

I had one myself last Sunday evening... It was a dreadfully quiet weekend and I was parked in the layby on Priorswood Rd, Coolock, quite immersed in Willie Carlin's account of his days spying on Sinn Fein in Londonderry when a gentleman approached and asked if I was for no. 112. I advised him that I hadn't been allocated any specific fare but was available for hire. With that he boarded my vehicle and we set off for Dublin City Centre.

Oh... I had the opposite on Saturday evening. A Free Now job from a private residence in West Kilmore, allegedly going to Ballboughal. When I arrived and telephoned (as requested) the man who answered the phone said the taxi he ordered (for a visiting relative) had come and gone. No bother, says I and just as I was about to hang up he added they were going to Ballybough and yer man thought it was Ballyboughal so he wasn't best pleased... that's cheered me up a bit anyway, says I, thanking him for the information. Hence I guess it's fair to conclude that the somewhat dissatisfied driver cancelled in frustration so the system dispatched another idiot i.e. me!

I guess that's another form of snatching i.e. cancelling the fare after picking up so another car may get dispatched depending on what reason you select for cancelling.

LKQ Euro Car Parts...Furry Pk Ind,Old Airport Rd...I think they have about a million vans driving for them, don't know if the drivers are classed as contractors.

That's a British firm, erm. It used to have an alliance of some sort with Team P.R. Reilly but bought them out a few years back.

All the time Ken...its not snatchin...its takin the work back from cunts that are charging over 20% commission , hospitality charges an charging " tech" fees to our customers and running a priority system thats unfairness in the workplace .....that's theft in me book and despicable
corporate greed and abuse of drivers  ....an any driver that accepts them jobs is a complete and utter moron and a scab  ...fuk em

Will you stay with Uber now that it looks like you'll have to pay a bit extra tax on their fares?

I'm chronically lazy so never got past signing up for FN and I only signed with them because a FN rep stuck his head in my window when I was ranked up one day.

Uber will get even busier when the students on J1 visas return from the U.S. and Canada.

Is it worth registering for VAT and all that entails?

What is Uber's current rate of commission in ROI, excluding VAT?

12% for now.I get some tips on Uber but Freenow killed off the few tips with the tech fees.

If you are using Uber be careful of you use the cash option as I did my first drug run to Oliver bond flats on Uber this week.Got paid no probs but not the type of work I usually cover or expect on Uber.

I find buyers or sellers of supposedly illegal narcotics account for a large proportion of the work I do for Free Now. In the Northside suburbs there's a definite blind eye policy with little or no attention paid by An Garda Siochana. I think that regime will be replicated nationwide on foot of the Citizens' Assembly's recommendation to "minimise, or potentially completely remove, the possibility of criminal conviction and prison sentences for simple possession" ( https://citizensassembly.ie/citizens-assembly-on-drugs-use-publishes-summary-36-recommendations/ ) in due course if that hasn't already been done? In any event, I don't find those engaged in buying or selling to be particularly problematic. They usually have plenty of tax free hard earned so aren't bothered about paying a taxi fare. I guess a lot of them probably understand that you wouldn't be likely to pick them up on the street so they don't want to dirty their bibs, so to speak, with the dispatch firms that welcome their patronage.

12% + VAT = 14.76%... pretty much the same as Free Now's current rate of commission in ROI.

I don't know what these lads were on but I think they might have been getting the hard stuff from the flats. Two Turkish/Romanian lads and one fairly sweaty.I don't really care what people take but the hard stuff brings us to strange places.

Typically Uber is all clean work but the recent addition of a cash option might start to attract the wrong customers.Uber has said by email that they will guarantee all payments but still I don't want the addicts if I can avoid them.

Finglas is using the cash option.

Only 6% down in Cork, and with small very easy Bobo's on the go constantly !

They'll double it if/when they get some work!

Did you register for VAT?

I'm Cash only on Uber mainly because I reckon those that have dirtied their bib's on FN will move to Uber.

Yes, I understand that when they get their market share down here then the commission hike will follow as will the withdrawl of the numerous Bobo's on offer fer customers and drivers.

No, I'm not registered fer VAT, I read the VAT topic on here, it was all way over my head.
