Title: Telephone
Post by: John m on August 16, 2024, 11:41:07 pm
Customer left some glasses in my car tonight .Then they contacted me by Phone .Does anybody know how they got my Number ?Did Free Now pass it on contrary to GDPR or do they ring you on behalf of the customer if so how does the customer get through to talk to  you ?.I have contacted them directly to answer this question .If they passed on my private phone number to a customer I see a serious court case .

Did they call you via the app, could you see their mobile no, if you couldn't then they couldn't see yours? Before the apps everyone we called for a job had our number. Did you check the last Ts+Cs you signed?

they don't know your number.
they'll ring you from that 575 8367 number or whatever.
they must get in contact with free now and free now directs them to a contact the driver icon or something and they contact you from there.

Punter can go into job details for up to 12/24 hours and call you thru app---happened to me years ago when they stopped giving actual number---

Doc that may be true but after my request for information which I did not recieve .I got this E mail from some moron who clearly DID NOT UNDERSTAND the original request .

Hi John,

Thanks for contacting the FREE NOW Driver Care team and for letting us know about the item found in your vehicle.

Do we have permission to forward your name and phone number to the passenger so he/she can contact you directly about this?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

NOW why are they asking my PERMISSION as I said had they already passed on my Private Details to a random stranger .Its a simple question I posed How did the Customer get in Contact with me .If Free Now ring and pass over the conection to him then he does not have my number but if as proposed in this Email Free Now have passed on my Private Details to a thiird party I will be seeking Substantial compensation or Objection to their Dispatch Licence for serious breach of GDPR and my privacy .Its a simple question I asked and have not recieved an answer .Also lost property by Law we return to the Gards .Whats to say two or more passengers on a trip one loses something and the person who booked the trip contacts you and you return it to them and it is not their property but belongs to a fellow traveler .Legally how would you be fixed .Lets say a sum of money was involved and the issue was you handed it over to the trip booker not the actual owner of the property .Free Now do not take responsibility for the transfer of the Goods they only seem to facilitate the contact which may in fact be illegal .

They have not clarified that .That was simply the question I asked .Instead I got an E mail asking for my permission to pass on my number ?So what exactly is happening ?I think the fucktard who got my E mail never read it .I was not reporting a find but asking how I was contacted ?

My original correspondence .I covered a Job this evening from Kickham Road to South King Street .The Customer left some Glasses in my Car .This Customer later contacted me .I want to know how they got my Phone Number if it was Passed on to them Directly By You or if you dialed me on their Behalf .If you passed on my Private Number to the Customer I shall take legal action against you under GDPR legislation .Be advised if you ever pass on my Private Details to any customer I will sue you for One Million Euros in Punitive Damages .I request an Immediate reply to this Query from a Senior Member of Management .

I could not of made it simpler .I asked a question and received no exact reply .Its simple if they direct the customer to the driver and no number is exchanged then they need to clarify that .But my reply was have we your permission to pass on your number .It looks like the idiot in the office only read the first line .Customer Service by morons .

Drop the stuff into the Garda station or the Freenow office on Baggot street.By the time Freenow respond to you the passenger could have new glasses bought. No point chasing them around IMO.Even if they throw you a score it will not be worth the hassle.Chances are they wont.

Mount St. you mean,  MfH!

Driver and client phone numbers were passed between each other long after apps with Hail0/Mytaxi, BS. Uber was the only one to mask your number from inception. Free Now copied that system some years later.

@ JohnM:  The passenger is not calling your number - they call a central FN number and it gets re-directed to your number.  Same when we call a passenger - we never actually know their number.

Punter can go into job details for up to 12/24 hours and call you thru app---happened to me years ago when they stopped giving actual number---

Only difference is, afaik, that the passenger can call you AFTER the job through the central number whereas we can't.

You contacted FN 'customer service' with the glasses problem and they asked you for permission to give your real number to the passenger so he can call you direct.  You could always say 'no thanks'.

You'd probably have to queue for a stamp too.Bit if a pain as the post office is always busy.

I found a US credit card under my passenger seat the other day.I dunno how long it's there but I decided to cut it up as they've likely already gone home or ordered a new card.Stuff like sunglasses etc usually ends up in the bin.

If you could qualify for the dole that'd be a no-brainer... and you could rent your taxi out to an immigrant on the qt. I've heard of a Somali lad in Coolock who's paying 2 and a half ton a week for a taxi without insurance... Not to be sneezed at.

Probably six of them driving it, all doing seven 14 hour shifts a week.

A punter was telling me he got one of them electronic cars last week and went to put his bag in the boot. The black driver went nuts and tried to make him put it on the back seat. Anywaysanall he pushes past the black lad and opens the boot and there was two more black lads in it both pedaling away on a yoke connected to an altenator... fuckin charging the car for their shifts anall they were...

The good old days... even when you tried to sign off they wouldn't let you opting to entice your loyalty by directing you to the Northside (and presumably Southside where applicable) Partnership to claim BTWEA for 4 years... paid into the bank, no need to queue or sign. Happy days!

Did you get your licence from the IRA lads and the carriage office bloke up above in Ballymun?

Was it easy to sign on for the BTWEA?

All the lads I worked with in Checkers had the bogey licences, and rather than see them on the scratcher, the government made it easy for them to pass the Harcourt Street test, thus qualifying for the free money.

No. I got licensed by An Garda Siochana up above in Dublin Castle.

It was the dole office that directed me to BTWEA. Given that I hadn't been signing on for whatever the minimum required period was to qualify for the grant aid it wasn't entirely straightforward. In brief, my case officer effectively refused my "resignation" when I attempted to sign off to become self-(un)employed and insisted that I meet with the Northside Partnership. The man in there squared all the circles so to speak and got me signed up. From there it was incredibly easy. No more queuing at the post office or signing on once a month or whatever it was back then. Money in the bank every week, no questions asked. In fact, I was so impressed with NPs ability to navigate the system that I sent several more drivers their way and between us we - well, I done the typing and NP done the rubber stamping - even produced a standard Taxi Cosy (Shift Rental) contract to help streamline the paperwork.
