I recently noticed Bolt have an environmentally friendly option on it's Irish Fleet - "Green Taxi" which I believe is comprised of 100% electric vehicles. I haven't noticed any such option on Uber - although a lot of it's fleet on the mainland is electric, including some tiny ID3s. Are any of the others promoting environmentally friendly options?

FN used to have an EV option but I haven't seen it on the app for awhile so don't know if it's current. I was always wary of it because you had the suspicion the passenger might have 'expectations'...

I used to get eco jobs with the Prius on Freenow but don't see them in the electric yoke.
I do get a fair bit of green work on Uber these days.Only problem is the desto is withheld ,but when it's quiet I don't care too much.Many green jobs just so happen to be airport jobs.Perhaps the kids want to cut their carbon footprint in their heads.Well it's all in their heads anyway so it's means SFA.
Don't think Bolt have a green option that I'm aware of.

I should say there are some wankers who use the green option on the passenger app to ensure they get a relatively modern vehicle.They don't care about their carbon footprint.

I'm sure they switch it off wen ther in a hurry to get to Coldplay.....a " cunt" option. Button wud ne nice on our end of tings ... lol

FN have the 'Green' Electric Taxi option on the go fer a good while,

Different tariffs for different cars? Diesel cars pay a smog tax while EV's pay a smug tax? :P

As Ken notes, Free Now fares in ROI are a lot more expensive than Lynk, Bolt or Uber yet it pays it's ROI drivers less than all of those firms hence I don't use Free Now in ROI. However, in the UK it's generally the cheapest option with a fleet of private hire clapped out Priuseses at a fraction of what you would pay to hire a licensed taxi.
My Bolt (customer app) has a Green Taxi option in the beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan for the same fare as a filthy diesel yet there is no green option on my Uber app... so it's the complete opposite of your experience (presumably up above in Dublin) in these parts.

I think it's offers whatevers available at the time and also depend on your location.It's the same software for all countries too.

What's interesting is they're quoting a much higher price for 8 seater taxis when I suspect they're actually black limo vans.Not taxis at all.

Makes sense, I guess. I generally just select the cheapest readily available vehicle. I have noticed that when I take a ride with Uber in Ireland they often charge significantly less than the metered fare, e.g. the last ride was €10.00 on the meter and I was charged €5.00 whereas with Free Now it would have been at least €11.00.... yet Uber pays it's drivers significantly more than Free Now!
