Title: Freenow bullshit probably means they're getting worried

INDUSTRY UPDATES FOR DRIVERS
 Dear Driver Partners

As the new General Manager of FREENOW Ireland, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I’m really looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible, hearing your thoughts and feedback, and working closely with you to improve the service we offer. Together, we can drive positive changes that benefit both drivers and passengers.

You may have seen The Taxis for Ireland Coalition, whose members include Uber and Bolt, have been pushing for the deregulation of the Taxi trade to allow for a significant growth of new drivers. This constant focus on deregulating the market and significantly increasing the number of taxi drivers, will ultimately decrease the number of jobs and taxi drivers' earnings. Selective examples from countries like New Zealand are being used without mention of what happened once driver numbers exploded - commissions increasing significantly.

The biggest threat to supply today is the unresolved VAT liability that hangs over thousands of drivers across the country, which hasn’t yet been addressed. The NTA figures show that new entrants to the industry are increasing at the highest rate in 10 years, and the pace is accelerating. A recent passenger survey revealed that 92% of passengers find it very easy/easy to book a taxi except at peak times.

I have full faith in our colleagues at the NTA and on the Taxi Advisory Committee maintaining Ireland's regulatory standards. However, it’s important to remain vigilant and united to defend the service provided by thousands of taxi drivers across Ireland, and ensure measures are put in place to address these very specific challenges.

I will personally meet with various taxi representatives to discuss this matter, especially as we approach the election. We are committed to consulting with you — our driver partners — every step of the way. Your voice matters, and I urge you to share your initial thoughts in the survey below.

Take survey
Thank you for your continued dedication and for being such an integral part of the FREENOW community. I’m eager to work alongside you to ensure we protect and improve the livelihoods of all taxi drivers in Ireland. Let’s continue to support one another as we navigate these challenges and build a brighter future for our industry.

I look forward to hearing your feedback and meeting you in person soon.

Best regards,
DOG

So do any of you lads genuinely believe Freenow are the taxi drivers friend compared to Uber and Bolt.

Freenow have their own online PSV exam to coach new candidates through the test.Do they think we cant remember only a few years ago they were complaining about the PSV exam being too difficult.

Did someone hit these cabbages in the head with a hammer or something? They screwed over taxi drivers in the UK and took on private hire. They already despatch our taxi work to limosenes without our consent. What makes them think they're so different than Uber and Bolt?

Being a non ambassador when I turn off the cash option on the freenow app I receive more work on Uber and Bolt. What reason would I have to stay loyal to Freenow?

Octy I'm sure you know you can turn off the cash option, but it means you'll be offered a lot less.

I haven't got one in a year or so. I hate plastering my car in that shite, they need my service to make money I don't need theirs. Just lower the commission to 5% cause it's us that has the most expense as a fleet not them they are making 10s of millions.

It's some master stroke that they've gotten millions and millions worth of advertising for feck all just for a change to the algorithm.

Is Charlie Gleeson gone?
Seemingly so, the new fella on board can talk the talk but cant walk the walk just like old Charlie and he again offers nothing.

You would need to be some idiot to believe this line;

I get them all the time.  I know it's automated but I don't know why they bother.  I'm only bronze on FN and the odds of me ever being embassador-grade are remote  >:D

That photo is from FN and is from last year, I think.  It's deffo a few months old.  It's a general warning that they have to tell Revenue what you earn.  It's nothing to do with the VAT thing.

No..that's the Uber one from today...Octy is on FN aswell,he had the app on when he screenshot that,
It's different to the DAC7 info they required last time,on this one they ask are you an Individual or Business, your PPSN No....and do you charge VAT or some such.

If this new guy is as good as he's supposed to be he'll do the right thing and scrap all loyalty and ambassador programs.Everytime they bypass me for a job I cover more work for Uber and Bolt.Surely they can't think this is good for business.

Stopped using Uber 2 weeks ago as still no reply to multiple requests for info on the VAT situation. Got an email from Bolt asking why I had stopped using them. Told them that I hadn't, just splitting work between three apps meant everyone gets less, and reduces chance of commission increases.

I'm similar. Free Now - BOLT - Uber - C2K. Sod's law says they're all busy at the same time. And until the government addresses the elephant in the room i.e. staggered or sequential closing it will remain so.
