Ella Kissi-Debrah death: Mum continues clean air fight 10 years on (https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-64624483)
A London mother who is campaigning against air pollution 10 years on from her daughter's death has said she will not "apologise" for her work.
Ella Kissi-Debrah was the first person to have air pollution listed as a cause of death at an inquest in the UK.
Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah has been calling on MPs to introduce the Clean Air (Human Rights) Bill - or "Ella's law", named after her daughter. She said she wanted to ensure "no child in this country will die from asthma". At the conclusion of Ella Kissi-Debrah's inquest in 2020, coroner Philip Barlow said the nine-year-old had been exposed to excessive levels of pollution before she died.

Look the pollution in Mumbai, it would explain some of the reasons why there re so many Indians here...driving diesels!

Dont mind his politics but Eamon Ryan was the Greatest Politician ever to be elected to the Dail by a mile .Everything he said he would deliver for his voters he did .Unlike the Treacherous low life Scumbag Tony Gregory who hawked his vote for goodies for a few people who voted for him .Often wonder how different Irish Politics and Economy would of been if Gregory did not give the Taoiseach office to Charlie .George Colley probably would of gotten the Gig .

It's far, far too late!
Microplastics found in every human testicle in study (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/20/microplastics-human-testicles-study-sperm-counts) (The Guardian)
Microplastics have been found in human testicles, with researchers saying the discovery might be linked to declining sperm counts in men.
The scientists tested 23 human testes, as well as 47 testes from pet dogs. They found microplastic pollution in every sample.
The human testicles had been preserved and so their sperm count could not be measured. However, the sperm count in the dogs’ testes could be assessed and was lower in samples with higher contamination with PVC. The study demonstrates a correlation but further research is needed to prove microplastics cause sperm counts to fall.

You'd have to wonder where scientists get the time.

lol Microplastics found in dolphin breath for first time – study (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/oct/16/microplastics-found-in-dolphin-breath-for-first-time-study)
Microplastics have been found in dolphin breath for the first time, according to a study that suggests the marine mammals are inhaling the potentially harmful contaminants when they come up for air.
The US research team, whose preliminary findings are published in the journal, Plos One, are concerned about the potential impact of inhaled plastics on the animals’ lungs.
The scientists collected samples of exhaled air from bottlenose dolphins in two sites: Sarasota Bay, Florida, an urban estuary, and Barataria Bay, Louisiana, a rural site. They found microplastics in the exhaled breath from all 11 bottlenose dolphins sampled, leading them to believe the inhaled plastics were airborne.

It took over 10 years but... UK government settles legal claim after girl's death linked to air pollution (https://www.rte.ie/news/2024/1031/1478418-uk-government-apology-adoo-kissi-debrah-death/)
The UK government has apologised and settled a legal claim over the death of a nine-year-old girl from an asthma attack which a coroner partly blamed on air pollution, lawyers said. Three government departments settled the claim, brought by Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah's estate, for "an undisclosed sum" ahead of a High Court trial, the law firm representing the family revealed. The legal action argued the young girl's right to life under the Human Rights Act had been breached.
"Ella's suffering and death were a tragedy," ministers from the departments wrote in a letter to her mother Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah. "We again take this opportunity to say we are truly sorry for your loss," they added. "To lose a loved one at such a young age is an immeasurable loss."
