Deserves a shout out, always excellent service and currently offering the cheapest diesel North of Collins Avenue. I think it's branded "On The Go". It's the closest one to DAP on the old road, anyway.
I went in this morning having got an Uber fare up to Dublin followed by another Uber to T2. Anywaysanall, I had left home without my lighter so had to buy one in addition to the €57 worth of diesel. In settling up (by card as I'd only taken a tenner cash before the Uber rides) the gentleman kindly told me that I may help myself to a free coffee... which I did, opting for Cappuccino. Just about made up for the €1.99 lighter considering I only bought half a dozen lighters for less than that in Lidl on Wednesday!

It's called Airport Energy.Their car wash is one of the best I've come across at €9 for taxi drivers.
-
Yeah, it says Airport Energy on my bank app. I must try their wash for my next LRA.
I think Airport Service Station is a blast from the past. If memory serves that was the little garage that used to be where the Applegreen is now. A taxi wash was IR£1 there... but then it was free in the Statoil on Malahide Road (Donneycarney) and the Statoil on the quays when you bought a few notes worth of diesel. We could wash the car every month back then whether it needed it or not.

Used to be Pat Shanahans old place...bought a car off him when he was in Meakstown back in the 90's...sold up and living the dream apparently!!
Must give the car wash a go...although the boys up at the M1 Retail Pk in Drogheda do a decent job for €8(taxi price).....chamois it down, clean the windows and around the inside of the doors and put a birra tyre shine on it aswell.

Migrants?

i wash my own car. when you have the proper gear it's effortless and very satisfying. my cars have all retained that new car glow. it's a gentle process. an automated washer or a standard hand wash job will butcher the paint on your car.

With Circle K Taxi Driver Club Benifits you get Half price washes every day.

Migrants?
No, Pat and Mick Shanahan are both natives. They had airport autos - mostly Jap imports - across the road in the Airport Industrial estate.

€4.00 for the cloth wash. Nice.

...and now they're washing your motor for loose change?
How the mighty fall!

How much is Diesel there at the moment?
-
Can't remember, if I think of it I'll have a look next time I'm passing. It was €57 to fill up last week but I don't know how many litres I bought, I do know it was the same price as Certa and a cent or two per litre lower than the Top garage across the road and (probably) around 7c/litre cheaper than the Applegreen up the road. The three to compare in that neighbourhood are Airport Energy, Certa (unmanned) and Top. You can see all 3 prices from the entrance to Airport Energy if travelling south. There's another garage on Amiens Street that's sometimes a bit cheaper and another on East Wall Road, the service being substantially better in the latter.

I thought I saw 1.67 for daysul and 1.68 for petteril...and me drivin a lectric!!
-
1.675 to be precise... I got a Free Now full fare job up to Dublin within minutes of saying I'd have a look at it... the electronic spies were on the ball!
More questions like this please!
Certa is 1.679
-
That's what I have been paying the last month, so it's a very good price for Dublin, I saw it at 1.83 in mayo lately.
-
Healthy competition between the 3 filling stations there. Right beside the airport too so Certa and Airport Energy are probably chasing the taxi and car rental markets while Top is after the freight firms, buses and truckers.
-
Applegreen makes more money on food I would imagine with the prices they charge.

I worked with AVIS. If the renter didn't bring the car back full, they were charged the highest permissible price per litre. That's where a lot of the profit came from.
I'm surprised people are still using fossil fuel.
-
Yeah... occasionally they get competitive on fuel prices... but I guess when Certa was the main competitor as far as fuel is concerned folk would still pop into Applegreen for a piss and might buy food/drink while they're at it. I see a lot of men with large appetites loitering on their forecourt while waiting to pay extortionate commission and car parking fees for Free Now jobs from DAP. That can't be bad for business.
Indeed, SB... I'd guess it'd be mostly corporate clients that couldn't give a flying fuck about the price of fuel that wouldn't bother filling up.

I was going to buy logs from Applegreen, but just as I pulled in, lo and behold there was a bum wrapped in a blanket loitering outside the door tapping all and sundry. A homegrown bum too.
It's amazing where they get the energy to get out there.
I did a u-turn and bought from McCleod's on the Baskin instead.

He was having a gargle last time I went in. I asked him if he could spare a can on my way out... told him I was out over a fuckin hour trying to get the price of a few cans out of the cab.
-
Made a few quid on Applegreen shares before they went private during Covid ---when they launched on market they were 6 quid I think by Covid 2.30--then taken private 4.70
Two guys who started in Stafford's--old garage in Amiens st and Ballyfermot rd--have to hand it to them --one of them built a mansion on Coliemore Rd
Reading one of their annual reports the CFO commented on the Premium price for they get for fuel---which I thought was too honest for a CFO

Know their way around planning permission and State contracts, to be fair...

Two pages about a petrol station! I've heard of trainspotters and planespotters but this...?
Maybe Admin should open a new section where youse can share your views about all the different petrol stations you visit around Dublin and further afield. You could rate them and award the winner with a Golden Lollipop at the end of the year :P
