Junk mail from Free Now:
YOUR JOURNEYS, SAFER
Starting 23 September, pair Freenow with Android Auto.
With Android Auto and Freenow, you can:
• Follow in-car navigation
• Reduce phone distractions
• Manage trips easily
How to connect:
1. Check compatibility: Car must support Android Auto; phone Android 10+.
2. Update apps: Install/update Android Auto and the Freenow Driver app (v13.5.0+).
3. Connect phone: Wired through USB or Wireless with Bluetooth.
4. Allow permissions: Follow the on-screen prompts and accept all.
Once you have successfully paired your phone with your car, the Freenow app will be available for you to use on the car's display. Tap on it. After accepting a job, press ‘Start navigation’ on your phone. Directions will appear on your car display, keeping your focus on the road. Collect payment via your phone as usual.
Update your app to version 13.5.0 to start driving safely with Android Auto.

Uber have something similar but I don't see the advantage over the phone.Phones are cheap to replace but car screens are expensive when they burn out.
Also I don't want these apps running in my cars software as they might fuk it up more.

I've never used Android Auto. I don't even know if my car has it!

Have had that facility on Bolt, and Uber for ages, still couldn't get it to work on FN last night, anyone else?

Do you find it beneficial in terms of driving with due care and attention?
I guess it's somewhat encouraging that Free Now seems to recognise the inherent danger it puts taxi drivers and other road users in by systematically requiring drivers to compete for work while operating motor vehicles.
It's a shame RSA/NTA don't feel any relevant duty of care.

Marginally safer looking at a big screen. I think that the taxi apps should be banned for safety reasons.

It's all great fun 'till lives are lost.
