Have a scroll through that site and there's plenty of recommendations.

I've been buying used tyres for my old Octavia off a northside company for years so I asked them for a recommendation (too lazy to walk out to car).  Because I was a regular, they got me new EV tyres and only charged me cost (plus a tenner for fitting, I think).  After 4 years, my EV is not so shiny anymore so I've gone back to used tyres on the rears.  Not sure what I'll do when the fronts need replacing.

Same with my crowd.  They only sell second-hand tyres (and wood and coal in the winter) so they rang their man who sent over the tyres.  I know them so long they didn't ask for a deposit.

I got 70k on my rears and 25-30k on the fronts with new tyres.

Just checked and I have Ventus Prime 3 but I think there's a #4 out now...

At the time I think the #3 was at the 'cheap' end of the EV spectrum and they reviewed as 'good but not great' as Dunphy might say...  IMHO, good enough for city driving but if I was motorway driving, I'd probably think differently.

Watty you buy used tyres for your car, are things that bad?. Why don't ya go new and cheap if thats what ya like. Buying used tyres To me is a penny wise and a pound stupid situation.

Because I'm running a business and I try to keep my costs low.  Because I keep getting (slow) punctures...

Also it was just a habit I got into with my old Octavia.  Every 6 months for the NCT, I got 'new to me' tyres on the front or rear alternating.  My entire tyre  bill for the year was €120.  Now a single new EV tyre costs more than that & the fronts only lasts 25k km.  Fukk that!

You can't really go cheap with new EV tyres - you're paying for the extra weight of the EV and the quietness of the tyres because there's no engine noise.

P.S. When was the last time you saw a council roadsweeper truck?  Fukkers  >:D

But aren't you supposed to be saving a fortune on fuel and servicing, surly you can get a decent set of tyres and put the fronts to the back in increase the mileage on them when they get to the half wear mark. I get 70,000km from 4 tyres Michelin cross climates.

I woulda thought the more they rotate the more they wear, particularly with the weight of an EV battery and an erm to haul about the place.

What sort of kilometreage did you get out of them, erm?

I found a nail in the tyre tread last night, slow puncture. I got the night out of it, then pumped up the tyre at the O-K garage in the airport and went home.

I pumped it up gain this afternoon and popped into Speedy tyres: https://share.google/dTTYxeig981czlPMA

In and out in ten minutes, €10.00, and back on the road.

around 6 weeks ago i got 4 new tires.
a few days later one friday night i got a flat tire warning. got out and inspected the tires and they all looked grand. must be a slow puncture. little nail or screw. slipped onta the m50 and i hear what sounds like a motorbike beside me but there was nuttin there and then all of a sudden DUNK-DUNK-DUNK-DUNK-DUNK-DUNK-DUNK-DUNK. total rear right blow out at 100km/h. pulled off to the side and was very lucky i was just beside a little island in off the motorway. then it hit me i'd no jack. the one that came with the car was very finicky and i got an electric jack when i do rotate my tires but it's kinda bulky in a black case. i eventually said ah i'll never need to change a tire out in the field anyway. i'll pick up a slow puncture and i can just top the air up with my electric pump. parked like an absolute cunt on the side of the motorway.
hadta ring this cunt i know that drives a taxi to get evacuated. serious reddener i had. went back to the car with the electric jack and the old ryobi impact gun. whipped the wheel off and there was no nail or screw or any damage just a brand new flat tire. was convinced your man made a bags of putting the new tire on. in the cold light of day you could see a stress mark and a tiny prick mark in the middle. the tire was stabbed with something but whatever it was it didn't attach itself.

Weird. Did replacing the tyre cure the repetitive dunk sound? A screw or nail in the tyre is usually more of a tick than a dunk in my experience, maybe side wall distortion?

i see those tire repair kits in halfords.
i'd luvta have a go at mending a puncture myself.
like a cork screw and you drive a rubber dowel in to the hole and then snip off the excess and reinflate.
i'd be afraid the tire would blow up in my face and i'd look like the elephant man.

You must buy yourself one. I bought one from Amazon months ago, they're wonderful. I've only used it once, a couple of weeks back, on a slow puncture I was topping up weekly for months. I did have it repaired in Keit Duffy's place in Swords previously when I had to buy a tyre for another wheel of a Sunday but it didn't last.

Finding the hole was the hardest part as it was a very slight leak from the previous plug. Having never done one before I had three attempts. I pushed the first strip in too far and lost it inside the tyre, the second seemed to work but, after a cup of coffee, I decided I wasn't happy that I'd pushed the strip in far enough - it does retract a little as you pull your little tool out. The third was just right and hasn't lost any air since. I think the trick (if there is a trick) with them is to let as little air as possible out before inserting the strip i.e. leave the reaming tool in the hole till you have the strip ready and, after inserting the strip, withdraw your little tool with a swift deliberate jerk. I think the air pressure from within is key to achieving the necessary seal. I left my little electric inflator attached throughout the process for good measure.

The tyres on my car are Hankook 255/50R/19 Ventus S1EVO3.

Keit at Tryer-land is looking for €185.00 a corner, fitted and balanced.

They're €190 with Speedy tyres, but I've been with them for years, and know and trust them.

Maybe not tyres within specs for EV's

Quote
The letters on a tire's sidewall correspond to a specific maximum speed. Here's a breakdown of common ratings:
H: Up to 130 mph (210 km/h)
V: Up to 149 mph (240 km/h)
W: Up to 168 mph (270 km/h)

I'm open to correction but I think V is the recommended rating for EV's.  But when was the last time you drove at 240 km/hr?  I reckon it's safe enough for a city driver to 'downgrade' to cheaper non-EV tyres like H etc...

If you kill yourself using the wrong tyres, don't come complaining to me  :P
