Margaret Thatcher: "A man who, beyond the age of 26, finds himself on a bus can count himself a failure."
Over 500,000 journeys made walking, cycling in Dublin every day - report (https://www.rte.ie/news/dublin/2026/0303/1561331-travel-transport-dublin/)(RTE)
A new report on active travel in Dublin shows that more than half a million journeys are being made every day by people walking, wheeling or cycling instead of using a car.
So very sad :P
Hopefully some of them will be 'sneaky' and get a taxi!

If I didn't need a car for work I'd be on the bus or bike meself.Car ownership is a lot more expensive than it was a few years ago.
The new poor are the ones choosing to drive.
By the way I do think it's now government policy to close lanes to slow down the traffic enough to force people to bus or cycle.Eventually commuters will give up driving or stop taking jobs that are nowhere near where they live.

Problem is half of Dublin lives outside of Dublin city (Rush, Ratoath, Navan etc) and the public transport out there is terrible. People have no choice but to drive.

There was some civil servant on Prime time a few weeks ago living in Cavan and working in Phibsborough complaining about commute times. How can someone think that commute is doable long term.No point in having five bathrooms and a garage if you can't get in to work. All these places are going to be like Blanch in a few years with the extra house building going on.

Big Dommos Granny who is 164 says .Its terrible no public transport you have to go by bike or walk .The roads are fucked up with bikes a car or a bus cannot get around .Jasus Dev would of sorted this out .

It's obvious what the corpo are doin,"Death by a thousand cuts" for the motorist, they don't want to be the bad guys and ban cars ---they're leaving that decision up to you.
