In another place I read that there have been some new appointments to the TAC anybody able to shed any light ?If what I read is confirmed we are Donald Ducked >
-
We're still doomed?Jaysus.
-
If the names being floated around are true you possibly wont like it .The Rumour and it is totally unconfirmed is Lynk and Mytaxi have been appointed membership of the TAC .But as I am clearly stating this is a rumour I got it third hand but somebody else might be able to confirm it .
-
Is Taxi Company Owner's Association currently represented?
It was originally represented on TAC by Christy Kinahan's sister if memory serves but I think she moved to Spain?
-
Denise (sorry name escaped me above) isn't on TAC anymore, I got that much right but I'm not sure if taxi company owners have been represented since her departure?

A SISTER of Dapper Don Christy Kinahan, who once sat on a taxi drivers' committee with retired Garda Commissioner Pat Byrne, is to be questioned by a Spanish court over the coming weeks about any involvement with her brother's drug empire.
Denise Kinahan, who moved to the Costa del Sol about six years ago, has been named on a list of 22 people who have had their Spanish assets frozen as the probe continues.
Others include the Dapper Don, his sons Christy Jnr and Daniel, right hand man John Cunningham, Gary Hutch, 'Fat' Freddie Thompson and Irish men Kevin Lynch (believed to provide "muscle" for the Don) and Anthony Fitzpatrick.
Denise's partner Gregory Charles Martin is also on the list which includes names of 31 companies being linked to Kinahan's empire.
Twenty people were arrested in dawn swoops in Spain last Tuesday morning, while gardai in Ireland arrested one man. In the UK nine men and two women were arrested. Denise, who held two joint directorships in Ireland with nephew Daniel, was a high profile
member of the National Taxi Council which was headed up by Byrne.

according to a well placed individual who is always reliable .It seems both Mytaxi and Lynk have had representatives appointed to the TAC .So now we have a Foxes in the Henhouse ,
-
No despatcher who enforces discounting the legal fare should be allowed a place there.
-
Why should they not be appointed ?When Kelly said He wanted off street ranking ,ALL drivers aligned to a dispatcher and cashless taxies he wasent just talking he was stating government taxi policy .So why not appoint people to the ADVISORY panel who will advise that you should have off street ranking ,ALL drivers aligned to a dispatcher and cashless taxies .Then the Minister simply says WE have been advised by the Industry that they want ............

How does someone get nominated to the TAC?Is the process transparent?

Ministerial appointed .He appoints those he thinks are competent and then appoints harmless idiots who think they are capable .
-
And how does it work,do they have any real infuence or do they take votes on policy decisions?

They advise the Minister /NTA if what they say suits the Minister or NTA they accept their advice if not they ignore it .When Kelly did his review he set out the Governments plan .Its up to the advisory committee to advise how to get that done .The bit Im looking forward to is .Kelly ie the Government want all drivers aligned to dispatchers and taxies available at all transport hubs .How long before the dispatchers complain that their drivers are restricted from picking up at certain transport hubs contrary to government policy .Will the Kesh be opened up to dispatchers .
-
Plenty of us are already signed up to despatchers but still end up on the ranks.Even Ebbs cars rank up.So compulsory despatch company sign ups won't make any difference Ermy.

Not to you or me but if as Kelly ie the Government get what the say they want .All drivers signed with a dispatcher and cashless transactions .They then have total control of when we work and what we earn .Bit like the Swedish Model Wont happen before most of us retire .
-

In general it's presented with one or more options by NTA and approves the desired option which then goes to public consultation. Sitting on TAC would be useful for a firm capable of influencing the options presented to the Committee e.g. through lobbying. Encouraging those around the table to support the desired option ought to be easy enough, there's not too many high earners.

Ebbs started down the discount road followed very quickly by Kearns et al.
Then all followed.
Ebbs gives drivers money to account punters who didn't ask for it.
Not ONE driver has the cohones to demand to see the written contract.
Don't know why I'm bothered, as I wouldn't lower myself to his gutter level.
No doubt they'll be delivering Chinkys soon.
-
Looks like what I have been saying all along is starting to happen.you have only yourselves to blame.the radio company scumbags now owned you.you were not preparedto fukk their radi back at them, and now they will havetotal control.you were the main players, but you insisted on giving up your power to cunts who will now ride you.there is stil one chance for you,and that is for ALL of you to fukk the radio back at these bastards.its no longer a joke, these towrags really ARE your employers now,and you assisted them in taking over the industry.these are scumbags who got into this industry, using dodgy money, and dodgy influential people.you all know that, yet you allowed it to happen.shame on you for allowing gangsters, and crooks into our industry
-
I don't have a radio.
Having given several a go over the years, each have their own level of corruption. Most have criminals involved, it being a cash rich business and a good place to clean dirty money.
If the major App proves corrupt then I'd leave that too.
-
Im very disappointed that drivers know without question ,that we are dealing with scumbags who would be more akin to the front pages of the Sunday world ,then sitting on the TAC and are STILL prepared to turn a blind eye.the one thing im sure of though is,some day the truth will come out.some day one of these scumbags will make a mistake, and their criminal empires will be exposed to all in sundry
-
Hope they sue like Dana if it happens.
-
Do I take it you are in favour of the scumbags getting total control then lippy ?
-
A Judge ruled some time ago that no man can be deprived of a livelihood just because of a criminal conviction. Nobody's holding a gun to these guys signing up to radio companies. Plenty of scumbags driving Taxis, Dalyer.........never mind running the show. The real threat is the one the airheads on here keep promoting...........and as Merc says, because they have plants here, I won't bother naming said company.
Has it been established that these "scumbags" have criminal convictions?
-
Thats just it lippy,if as John m says they are seeking the alignment of all taxi drivers to these cunt radio companys ,then a gun actually IS being put to the head of drivers to comply.the influence these scumbags could have on the TAC is frightening
-
Gun pointed by the aforementioned app provider.........ammunition paid for by compliant fools promoting it........trigger pulled by ?
-
Its not to late, drivers STILL have control by giving back radios.no drivers,no radio companies.but will they do it ?will they fukk
-
Drivers have already allowed these people get an unnecessary foothold into the industry.now they are prepared to go all the way,and let then take over completely.that is what will happen if its not stopped now.it will become law. You will have to join one of the gangsters conpanies.the Government also expressed the desire to have us all aligned to the scum.I fwlt so strongly about it (and I still do) that I told Alan Kelly ay the time, that although I am not a representative of anybody in the industry,I would actively go around all ranks in the city and ask independent drivers to robustly oppose any attempt to force us to align.I would hope that TTNH,and all reps within the Industry would support me in this
-
Again, plants and moles, aka information gatherers. "Earned a monkey with M..t..i last weekend, lads....easier than picking up tramps from the street".etc. etc.......
The biggest fool is the one trying to make stupid not stupid.
-
Dalyer the TAC is a talking shop has only the power to agree with the Chairman who sets the agenda to implement government policy .I would think there are a few peopkle who were not trying to set up unions or repbodies shunned approaches to go on the TAC .
-
You don't see too many bigging up Ebbs or the other fella here.........quite a few doing exactly that for the other crowd..........hands in many pockets.
-
Lippy with respect I have not got a fukking clue what your saying ,why dont you speak english?
-
I write and speak English, Dalyer.
-
Bt you speak in riddles.im very interested in your opinion on different topics (I think) but it would help if I understood whay you are saying
-
I don't really..methinks you have been listening to a few dithering muppets here too much, Dalyer. If you were able to understand the Irexit conference speakers, then you're well able for harmless aul fools like me.
-
Seriously lip I have not been influenced by anyone on here,in fact I was not aware anyone else even picked up on it,but I really do find it difficult to,decipher what you are saying at times.
-
Think less and go with the flow..........it's a bit of mindless fun.
-
Wont be fun if as John says is true that certain radio scum are now establishing themselves on the TAC.insofar as making us all join, they are pushing an open door.thats exactly what the Government want. They will really have the ear of the leinster, house crooks as well

Riddle me this LL!!

Mr, and Mrs from the top of Glenalua Rd, going to town at 19.30 on Saturday for their 10th wedding anniversary dinner need to be able to call someone with connections to a reasonable amount of taxis to make one available to them for their special night. It is raining this Saturday, and Mrs doesnt want to walk the 200 metres to the road in her best frock and high heels, in the hope that she doesn't have to wait too long for a passing taxi.
It's a pity that the state does not link all taxis to a central base for a reasonable fee to cover costs, or that coops depend too much on voluntary work by a few.
At least the traditional taxi despatchers employ significant numbers of telephonists etc. and are available 24/7 to deal with clients problems unlike the app operators, having said that the competition from the apps has softened their cough which is no harm.
Increasing virtual market domination by the apps makes it necessary for those of us needing higher than average takings to use them reluctantly.
Personally I would prefer to support Irish operators than large motor manufacturers whose long term goal is not in driver's interests.
-
NTA should have developed eHail infrastructure back when the technology became available with relevant costs covered through increased licence fees... alas, that ship has sailed.
-
Mr and mrs phone a taxi for 7_30 for their special night out.taxi turns up at 10_30 3 hours later.sound familiar ? at least when mr and mrs walk to the corner and hail one of the 5-million taxis that STILL operate in Dublin, they are sure of getting their car in real time.now does that not sound better then relying of the broken promises of Kearns,Ebbs,Kelly etc

There are some things which are unfixable, and I'm not talking about the taxi biz..

Touche! Mercedes, and have found them to be very reliabe. I stated a preference not a dogma. I admitted using MT , and will reserve my protest to not purchasing a Mercedes autonomous vehicle when the time comes.
