I don't agree MFH, it's up there as 'SAMPLE PRICES', all fares can be accomodated. If he gets a job
he doesn't like or can't cover then he can pass it on to some other driver whom it might suit better,
like myself fer instance who can cover discounted but still lucrative long jobs in the Cork region at
off-peak times.
Title: Re: Roys new gig
Post by: mercenary for hire on September 21, 2017, 08:21:26 pm
If he doesn't like it then it's cherry picking.I guarantee ya if ya sent requests for two cabs at the same time he'd take the juicy one first, that's cherry picking. We all do it to some extent.

Am I the only poster who doesn't care what they post?I like Martin but there's a whole lot of brown nosing on here from drivers begging for leftovers.Shame on yis...especially you Erm.

Best of luck Martin...call me if ya need a hand.....

And what I originally meant was the very fact that he's covering primarily airport work means he's  cherry picking.Airport taxi work requires no special training or skillset. What's wrong with calling things as they are Ken?
Title: Re: Roys new gig

On further reflection cherry picking might be the wrong term.Going after the low hanging fruit could be a more accurate description.Yis knew what I meant though..

I wasn't gonna mention it, but as you ask me personally MFH.
You slate Mytaxi on here to High Heaven, telling us regularly how you have deleted
or fooked out the app/hate it with a passion and everything else you can think of
to make it look bad on here, Daimler/Germany/Merkel, Etc.
Then you post this just Today;

The App was mad busy yesterday until 5pm when and all the bonus chasers turned it on.I have to say my takings weren't too far off what I'd have gotten off the ranks even with the pick up charge.I really thought I'd be better off working the app.

Talk about 'Running with the Hare' and 'Hunting with Hounds' !

Yeah I know.,Ken drivers get upset and get pissed off.Everything I post about Daimler is accurate..they're a bunch of absolute cnuts.Doesn't mean I have to permanantly switch off.I like to speak my mind.If more drivers did the same and deleted the app we would have gotten the PUC back 3 years ago. There is method to the madness. You keep forgetting you have a roof sign and don't need to be a lap dog for any despatch operation.

It's our prerogative to whinge. Taxi firms and their bosses need to be thick skinned. If they're not getting a bit of abuse they are doing something wrong. IMO, loadsamoney (Dermot) done more damage to Hail0/mytaxi than any driver whinging or anyone who ever drew breath for that matter. Getting wound up by posts on fora was pure stupid. Banning men like Marto Taximan for expressing their opinions goes beyond stupid.

Firstly MFH, I am Not anyone's "LAP DOG", I work the Streets, the App and the Base as I see fit, if a job comes in from the base or Mytaxi fer 3km away on a Mon or Tues night, then I will take it, on Fri and Sat nights it's strictly Street only (unless the Bobo is on the go).

And if your gonna post all kinds a shite about Mytaxi/Damlier/Etc, at least be honest enough to admit that while you hate them with a passion, you do still use their product.

He rang me once expecting ta give me a Bollocking over something or other, I really can't remember what, but would guess it was about my suggestion of Zero commission on Fri and Sat nights. His intention of handing out a Bollocking soon turned, I had him on the Backfoot on many points and his expected Five minute Bollocking to me soon turned in to a Thirty minute debate of which I am pretty sure that I got the better of by far.

Ken if I'm posting about jobs that Im completing then isn't it obvious I'm using it?.Yer no fukking Sherlock Holmes I'll tell ya that much.

On numerous occasions you've been saying how great the app is too while paying for yer base.Every week yer saying if ya don't like it turn it off,,repeatidly defending the app is doing thier job for them..driving 8k to a pick up is behaving like a lapdog employee...even the ambassador wankers wouldn't do that stupid dead mileage.I hope yer getting invites to the staff Xmas party.

Yer obviously not reading the stuff that's being posted when it's posted..I think yer reading the forum threads on different days/weeks so it's easy to lose the meaning of the posts.I've noticed sometimes it takes ya days to respond to threads.Things change fast on forums if yer always catching up you're not gonna get full picture.Just an observation.

Merc I was  no great fan of Hailo but Im giving Mytaxi a second chance .I had a phonecall from the Boss Man three weeks ago and found him to be a reasonable sort of bloke who was willing to listen to the other mans opinion .I think where Hailo fucked up was with PR they had a confrontational attitude twords drivers where the reality is the whole thing works better if we work togeather . In what modern business would you buy 40 euro worth of Christmas 2014 Bonus Crap I was Am an unranked driver but when there is a bonus I go for it .Now that the Pick Up Charge is back I will probably be upgraded to Silver .If you use the app properly it puts coin in your pocket .But Im threading carefully

If mybolix lowered the freight to €10 I reckon they get enough to full fleet.
Look at the number of taxis that Drive across the City to  fuel up in mount Brown for cheaper fuel.
Even the poor hungry Prius drivers are in there fueling up.

S Class .If drivers cover the work and passengers can rely on them they will use the service .A lot of the jobs are bus fare jobs I work Dublin 8,10,12 .Most Dublin 8 jobs are under a tenner but the PUC brings them closer to a tenner .Cork Street to Dame Street is probably the most popular with foreign workers going out to work .Those passengers dont street hail they only know the app .I dont know anything about Mytaxies costs but they have offices marketing and staff plus outstanding loans taken out from Daimler to buy out Hailo and interest to be paid on that .I doubt they make 1% profit from the commission after costs .

I think it's pretty obvious that Daimler doesn't require mytaxi (or any of it's other rideshare apps) to return profits. They're essentially R&D projects, market penetration is what matters. When Daimler merged it's mytaxi subsidiary with Hail0, Hail0 was in negative shareholder equity and was very close to insolvency having pissed away tens of millions of Euros. Do you seriously think Daimler looked at the balance sheets and thought wow there's a chance to make a fortune. Cop on man, what it saw was high market penetration in Ireland and, to a lesser extent, Spain... two markets in which it can out-Uber Uber.

I love the smoke trail especially when overtaking a cyclist, give it a good burn in Second gear,
then double clutch it in to Third just as your passing him !

I have no problem with the seat, quite comfortable really.

The few modifications that I did make to my cab were;
Leatherette front passenger seat and back seat (lower seats only).
Spinning knob on the steering wheel (the absolute dogs bollocks), (10Euro).
Ultra bight Dims and Full headlight bulbs (15Euro each).
Top class wipers (15 Euro each).
Discarded the 'Space saver' spare wheel fer a full size wheel (40Euro with a tyre on it)
Snow chains (100Euro) and a bag of salt kept in the boot fer icy winter driving.
A bottle of Dettol surface cleaner in the boot and a roll of kitchen roll will clean up 90% of any soilage.

Older ones are grand but they made a huge mistake out-sourcing their assembly to France and other EU states. Saving them money....not when there sales have lost out because of shoddy workmanship.

The salt is to lay a trail on the ice to get the car going and once it's going your on the Pigs Back.
What does the Cat litter do ?

The knob on the steering wheel is illegal.
Unless you have a cert to prove you are disabled.

No, I disagree Sclass, I have checked every Irish motor law online fer both the spinning knob on the steering wheel,
and also fer Snow chains on the wheels and I can find no Irish law against either. If you can find it, then please post a link.

I have passed NCT and Suitability many times with the spinning knob on the steering wheel.

If your going to make a statement/throw shite Sclass, be sure that you can back it up !

Years ago I had one on the steering wheel
I was told by garda and Carriage office to get it off the wheel.
I was only saying.
That's the only back up I can supply.
I don't really give a fukk if you strap your own knob to the steering wheel.

So basically you are quoting 'Law' to me that it is "illegal"
which is based on hearsay from times past.

If ya don't give a "Fukk" then why did you comment ?

I have no problem with you Sclass, I enjoy your posts and
your company, but if your gonna take me on, be sure to have
your facts straight first.

I thought I read somewhere that those yokes are illegal, can't remember where though. Are they mentioned in the NCTS or SPSVLRA inspection manuals?

What the fukk are you on about take you on.
A copper told me they were illegal
OK
Claim down. Take some time off.
try and work within the hours you signed the Declaration for when you applied for your PSV driving license.
Driving over 11hours is  illegal
So you and a few other live in the car hungry cunts on hear continuously flout the law.
Boasting about the dangerous hours you drive on the road.
WORK TO LIVE.
NOT LIVE TO WORK.

A few customers said to me (also Sclass) that they were illegal, but after much trawling in detail through the web on Irish motor law, I couldn't find a single word about it.
