I opted in but I doubt that I will make the 20 on any of those nights.
The earlier 4pm start dosen't suit me and it's an extra hour on tariff 1.
I Hate tariff 1.

The drop to 75 is a big kick in de goolies. I have very limited interest in
the offer and unless it totally falls in to my lap, I won't be bothered with it.

God be with the days when it was 150 fer 20 jobs and every
MyTaxi customer had discount vouchers flying outta dere arse !

I think they've accepted that the service will turn to shit at Xmas no matter what money is on offer. The money that they don't give to drivers will go to the passengers as compo for not having enough taxis on the app when they moan on Twitter..I'm sure they've noticed on the system that drivers need cash for Xmas and switch it off.

Customers don't be ready to go especially this time of year which adds to the number of drivers leaving it off.5 minutes free waiting at the busiest time of the year doesn't make sense.

I don't think 20 is achievable on Fridays up above in Dublin without priority status. I might give it a go but without much enthusiasm.

Late Late Toyshow Rodent Birds in Pajamas drinking Presecco is the norm now and yer man sitting in with her so he can earn a pass to do the twelve pubs on Saturday .Best way to get work on Friday is hang around the offlicence .

The street work will be covered regardless. The bonus has to be earned so earning it puts more money in our pockets as a collective. I don't work the middle anyway so the PUC more or less compensates for taking an app job in, say, Santry instead of driving to Swords within the speed limit.

You need to look out for x mas parties that are local you could cover 8or 10 jobs very quickly 2 yoyo PUC from Finches around to Mullers Gaff for a Gaff party

4pm is too early fer me to be starting at, the 5pm start used to be a big push fer me.

After midnight passes on Chrimbo nights I like to be able to have a Butchers at what
I'm picking up and make my own decision if I want the fare or not, rather than take a
base or app job which was ordered by a sober'ish person to bring some other highly
intoxicated person home.

4 is early for me too, particularly of a Friday. I don't mind having dinner at dinner time of a Saturday but we generally dine after 18:12 weekdays.

Got the €75 tonight (Sat).... I feel robbed!
Title: Re: crimbo bo bo
Post by: Rat Catcher on December 10, 2017, 05:14:17 am
Managed to do 25 jobs for the ton bonus tonight (Sat) despite not starting 'till 18:47. It's grand when you fall into short jobs in the suburbs but a couple of runs into the city and all it's traffic would put you on the back foot at this time of year.

Went out at 18:13 las night (Fri) and only had 5 mytaxi fares when I was called to the bar at 23:46... no chance of getting anywhere near the bonus at that stage.

Post by: Belker on December 10, 2017, 09:42:31 am
A late start fer me, I waited fer the Tariff 2 kick-off at 8pm and had only 4 or 5 Mytaxi jobs done by Midnight,
then got 4 or 5 Mytaxi Cancellations in a row, I got de 'Hump' after that and turned it off preferring to pick
what I wanted and could see from the street.

No Offence meant to Mytaxi, but 75 notes fer 20 jobs at Chrimbo time, I mean Really ?

It's hard work getting the 25 job Ton Bobo, unless my OCD kicks in, I'm not bothered with it.
The pax have no discount vouchers so early evening work is slow'ish, and from midnight on
your collecting drunk customers that you don't get the opportunity to drive past if'n ya don't
like the look of em.

Friday night I had 5 jobs out of 20 at 11pm. Too much street work from 1am on, didn't bother with the app then. I'm waiting for the Kesh to open up closer to chrimbo, when they can't supply all the "stranded" passengers with taxis. Cha Ching.

No reason why not. NTA seem to facilitate suitability tests at very short notice where required.

Rodent going bobo hunting 75 yoyo for 20 if you offer 5 free waiting minutes thats 100 minutes and if it takes you 3 minutes to travel thats another 60 =160 minutes  if the PUC  covers the commission  thats in reality less than 30 yoyo an hour for your time going to and waiting .Questionable if its worth the effort .
Title: Re: crimbo bo bo
Post by: Rat Catcher on December 16, 2017, 03:38:25 pm
Very few take 5 mins at night, as a rule of thumb a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. However, I've had two no contacts in the last three weeks that weren't paid by the new automated system so I'm not using it at peak times unless there's a bonus.

Have you reviewed your advice to drivers to cover this work regardless of bonus payments to the exclusion of all other firms' and street work?

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. My takings for bonus Saturdays have matched the peak of the celtic tiger years from shorter shifts.

You know my advice we should pick one app and work with it .IF  there were multiple pay per job apps then Alison or Sharon or Jerome would just hit all of them and whichever car turned up first they would take and with so many no shows the scrub would be cancelled .

That’s something I hadn’t considered, it’s a very valid point, while competition is essential to keep monopolies in check, it could end up costing the drivers with a huge amount of no contacts .

It's already happening on the streets.Half of the folks putting out their hands out are the ones staring into a smartphone trying to book a cab via app too but getting no luck. There's a sense of entitlement to pay by card coming across that I've not seen before.Won't be long before we're forced to take cards like the London taxis.

Passengers using several apps for one fare is rare. There were always a few that'd ring several firms for a cab but very few and even less on apps. I suppose with apps they know that everything they do is tracked and logged so they figure they'll be banned if they abuse them. What will happen with competition is that they'll order from the firm with the shortest run in time displayed and eliminate firms that let them down. As time progresses they'll get pissed off with one and switch to another, get pissed off with that and switch to another, get pissed off with that and switch back to the first, etc, etc. Having two firms in Sword worked well over the years. Both pissed off clients every weekend so the clients switched back and forth from week to week.

The bigger question is whether drivers will use several apps. The likelihood is that they will use one or two at a time based on bonuses on offer or how much work is available. Running several apps means having several apps constantly drawing on limited resources of smartphones and mobile internet. Even with 4G four apps running simultaneously will slow each others communications. Slower communication will, in turn, result in less viable job offers.

Which one are you currently endorsing, erm? I'm guessing that you'll be in for a serious kick up the arse from Bill Cullen if Whistle or Flag (or any other app) impacts on mytaxi's virtual monopoly to any great extent.

Anywaysanall, back to the Xmas bonus. I didn't work Friday and managed the ton on Saturday, worked from 18:08 to 04:26. Having destinations on a lot more job offers helps.
