DCCwill have to look at traffic on college green Paddy Power wont lay odds on taxies being banned and it being bus only .

They keep saying on the radio look how many cars will be left at home now there's a cross city Luas.All those new Luas passengers used to be on the bus/train from Broombridge.If you drive into town yer still gonna drive into town.Cabra already has an exellent bus service.City parking is too expensive for the average person.
Over 3 years of disruption to move people from the bus to the tram.At least when a bus breaks down another bus can overtake it and take up the slack.And all this talk about linking the lines?How many folks everyday are gonna get 3 trams from Citiwest to Sandyford.Deffo not enough to warrant digging up the city for so long.Thank fuk it's finished so we can stop patting ourselves on the back for doing very little.

I think they'll try to extend it eventually to the Airport.There's enough free green space through Finglas and into the Airport to make it work.

I wonder will they restrict taxi movement around the college gate to WATS and hybrids only or will they just ban taxies all together as we hinder the progress of the trams

Dunno LL you need to be 5 mins walk from the stop to get the big bucks.I'm in between both stops but the bus stop is 150 meters away.Truth is I was trying to get in before the stampede.Doubt I'll ever sell.
Just a complete ban probably Erm.They don't care if your car gives people cancer tbh.There's a limited ammount of space on college green.The Luas takes up too much when it's trying to get through the junctions so we'll get the boot before the Buses.They've commited to the Luas now so they won't be pulling up tracks anytime soon.

I posted what I was told by a city councillor they know its a fuckup but they originally wanted to ban taxies but didnt want any shit from us so they decided to let us at it but as soon as it becomes obvious that there are huge problems they will restrict some bus lanes to busses only with a provisio for WAT exemption and possibly electric cars and possibly hybrids the restriction to be between 7am and 7pm

Sounds daft.The fumes move with the wind Ermy...If ya want no pollution you should move out of Dublin.Most of the fleet will be Hybrid anyway.My yoke still burns petrol just less than regular cars.

tree huggers know they cant ban the car but they have to be seen doing something .First they send cyclists to their death by promoting cycling on unsuitable roads now they have twoproblems congestion and dead cyclists .IF they can ban a few cars they can cut down on the amount of dead cyclists a win win and if they can also reduce emissions then its tree for tree Monty and Cuff are car haters and run the traffic committee of DCC.

Thanks Ll but I'm kicking myself that I didn't move earlier...they were measuring up the Luas over 4 plus years ago while I watched on Dawson street.If I was really smart I'd have moved back then and I could have been almost mortgage free.But back then the traffic wasn't such an issue.Timing is everything.At least ya can see the mountains from Tallafornia...

Corpo gaffs in Clondalkin front and back gardens close to Red cow luas and arrow rail line also close to liffey valley and the square with nearby access to the M50 and N4 and 7 the real up and comming area unfortunately property tax is increasing last time round I put down a value of 110k two houses sold recently in my estate 220 for mid terace and 240 for end of terrace .

They also raised concerns about taxis’ future access to the new Luas tram line. Currently, taxis and buses are permitted to drive along the tram line from Dawson Street to Westmoreland Street. However, the council has said this dispensation is on a trial basis only and will be reviewed in the new year. The hotels said there had been no analysis of the impact of a potential ban on taxis from this route. “It is considered most unsatisfactory that taxis are only to be permitted to use this route on a trial basis,” they said. “There are other ways of dealing with taxi misbehaviours such as stopping on a clearway, ie under the existing road and taxi regulations, than threatening to ban them from the route.”
