Title: Scott to win BDO World championship?
Post by: Rat Catcher on January 07, 2018, 09:16:54 pm
Runs 'till next Sunday with coverage divided between C4 and BT Sport. On first round performances the two Scotts (Mitchell and Waites) both looked capable of winning a second title at a working man's price.

Mitchell 10.5/1
Waites 17.5/1

and purely by name association:
Scott Baker 249/1

Seldom a winner retains this title so Waites looks a likely candidate alright. Durrant looked like a PDC player yesterday but he still works full-time....think the past year's commitments will tell later in the comp.

I'd say Durrant will retire from work and join the PDC in 2018. Waites should have done that when he won the title but also opted to continue working - as a full time electrician if memory serves.

Waites is a bit of a hard-headed fool. Hearn was at him for a long time to switch codes but he's a bit precious it seems. Durrant might not want to live out of a suitcase at his age after last yrs trials and tribulations. He seems to be a home-bird. As Gary Anderson put it...Sky TV, central-heating and some bird shrinking your underpants in a hotel washing machine has its drawbacks.

Who do you think will win the Spitting World Champions .The American Todd Duncan must be favourite to retain his title .His Gobulation trajectory score averages  of 9.80  must make him hard to beat .His Gollier distance multiplied with the Gobulation trajectory degree of difficulty is impressive .If you could include spitting and Darts togeather as one sport you still wouldnt have anything worth watching but knowing Barry Hearn he will probably match up the World Darts ,Spitting and Shouting championships to give the morons another heap of shit to watch on pay per view telly .

Put yourself in as fav....

Who puts their phone number on a publicly read paper? Interesting stand on cyclists and the elderly...where did you nick that from, I wonder?

Taken from the Dougal Douglas Post:

To the R.S.A and whomever else it may concern. From Ken Cash, (Cork Taxi driver). Its getting just about time to get tough on Road Deaths, the average 200 people killed on Irish roads each year seems to be acceptable by the Irish public. Whenever there is a Disease epidemic and small numbers of people die, there is a National outcry. It will make headline news in all the Media, while maybe twice that number sometimes died on the roads in the same period, they will only make a few column inches on the inside pages of the papers.

The R.S.A. media advertising, issuing of Hi-Vis jackets and road improvements have helped to reduce the Deaths recently by 10% or maybe 20% per year in recent years. I suggest that Road Deaths should Not be accepted at all and more Drastic measures put in place to prevent them. My ‘Get Tough’ Suggestions; The most important ones first, Disallow the importation of cars that can exceed our legal 120km speed limit. (Garda cars and emergency vehicles excepted). In Ireland, motorbike engines are restricted for Provisional drivers and even after passing the Full motorbike driving test, motorbike drivers are still restricted with engine capabilities for a further Two years. If we can do it with Motorbikes, Why not with cars ? Limit the engine size of Private Cars to under 28 year olds, Maybe with a scale; 17 to 20, 1 Litre. 21 to 24, 1.1 Litre. 25 to 28, 1.2 Litre.

Every car must have a Hands free/Bluetooth hands free mobile phone system installed in order to pass N.C.T. Same penalty points to be applied for using a Hand held phone, as for using any appliance, including a G.P.S. while driving. Cyclists over 18 or maybe 21 to have to hold a (free of charge) cyclists licence, which can have penalty points endorsed on it and effectively put them off the road, the same as motorists. Disallow the use of Head-phones for cyclists. Elderly people must have a full driving test at 65, again at 68, 70 and every year after that, (preferably subsidized). If you don’t pass, then you don’t drive, except to get Driving lessons with a qualified instructor. Any person that trades in their EU or any other drivers licence must be tested on the rules of the road or do a full driving test in Ireland before been granted an Irish drivers licence, considering most other countries drive on the Right. Abandon the Safety camera vans, I’m not sure if they work or not, all I know is that when I have been ‘Flashed’ five or more times by oncoming drivers, its time to slow down.

Safety camera vans must operate ‘Overtly’ which makes a mockery of the whole situation. Scrap that plan but keep the employees in a new role of “Speed Enforcement Officers” who may operate Covertly and anywhere at all. A complete ban on all roadside advertising outside of city limits, drivers should not be reading advertising, while driving at speeds of 100km. Add “Working Hazard Lights” to the N.C.T. checklist. These are ‘Get Tough’ measures, hardly draconian. The current Irish attitude of 200 Road Dead per year is Not acceptable to me. Some Belgian lad called Andy Baetens knocked two of the Scotts out (Baker and Mitchell) and plays Waites in the quarter finals, maybe he's worth a tenner @ 18/1.

Killian Heffernan, a 15 year old, from Kildare finished runner up in the BDO World Youth Championship. Threw some great darts with a 156 check out in the first set. Another name for the future.

He has a very focussed look about him, I'd say that price is close enough to right... but no use for an interest bet.

Williams and Whitehead was a great contest. Durrant will be tested by young Jim next round, I'd say. The women's tournament is a total farce...

I don't understand why they have a separate event for women. It's not a physical sport, men don't have any natural advantage when it comes to throwing a dart and watching them play is hard work even for a fan of the game, not a looker among them. Shame the once pretty Russian bird didn't make more of an impact when she played with the men in the PDC a few years back.

She was a looker a few yrs ago alright, but the travails of life on the road with BK and McD for sustenance destroys the best of faces. That Corinne from Australia used to be 4 stone lighter not so long ago...she almost gave me a semi back then.

Waites is playing today on C4 methinks. Don't care for him but he's a tournament player for sure.
