What message are the courts sending Two assaults on taxi drivers reported last week and not a day in jail.If you hit the girl on the till in Pennys or punched a Judge in his worlplace you would be living rent free for years .Courts declared open season on working taxi drivers with fuck all sentences for attacking us . There are mixed messages coming about this incident it could be assault/murder but there are plenty of security cameras in that area hopefully it will be sorted quickly

I agree, It seems that drink is now a good enough excuse for behavior in a taxi that would not be tolerated in other contexts.

Until the courts send out a message you cant kick the crap out of taxi drivers this will continue .I dropped off a few lads one night in Dolphin House they were complaining that a lot of taxies wont drive into the flats .One of them said We would never attack a taxi driver because you would be certain to get locked up .With all the recent reports of fuck all jail for attacks its an invitation to scum to have a go .

Really sad event that ended a man's life while he was out earning for his family.
I can relate to the driver that drove past, we have all done it, flying back into town trying to catch the stragglers, gazing at the madness as we drive by, we can all be a bit cynical towards our own sometimes, "whats that gobshite up to". But he did turn back and seen that other taxi drivers had come to his aide, he did the the right thing once his humanity took over from his habitual taxi driver routine.
Sad thing is no one will get done for this, If this happened in the states the perpetrators that allegedly stole the phone would be done for causing his death. The reports are concentrating on a underlying condition not what caused the condition to react.

Where did you get the impression he turned around from that article .He probably passed by with a passenger on board heading out of the City .

there was a bizarre incident in that neck of the woods a few years ago.
an elephant jockey was roughed up and had his car whipped off him by two gurriers allegedly.
he was apparently getting a breather in a local coffee shop and then he got a secondary hammering by a gang of pikeys allegedly.
he later confessed that they all knew each other beforehand or something.

Joe, they're talking about bringing in fitness and health tests for taxi drivers. A fella told me you'll be excused from it though if you have health problems.

Was that not .He said they robbed his car when they were caught delivering drugs but it turned out he loaned it to them while he was taking a brake .Think they might of crashed on Bridgeford Street ?

Its not a healthy lifestyle .Irregular sleep and eating pattern lack of exercise and breathing in fumes all through your shift .It was incidents like this underlying health problem that I was referring to when Mytaxi were encouraging us all to lose weight without advising that we first take medical advise .

You may well be right but I hope he turned back after his first pass, like I said how many things do we all gaze upon cynically at the first instance and pass every night and some times we pause for thought.

I might be mistaken but there have been quite a few Africans dying from this sudden death stuff.
there was a black lad who died playing football in coolock a couple of months ago and another chap before that.

A taxi driver who passed by after the incident on Sunday morning said that he saw the man lying on the ground beside his taxi.
"He was on the road by himself, facing outbound while I was driving towards the city.
"I couldn't tell if he was injured, but he was moving.
"I must have passed him before the ambulance and police arrived because he was on his own, but the second time I drove past I saw two or thee taxi drivers with him."
I'm Livid over this Taxi driver ! How can you pass a colleague lying on the ground 'on his own' beside his Taxi ?
As much as I hate to use the word, there is only One word fer a Driver that passes another driver in need, CUNT !

reminds me of a story a few years ago.
I was driving towards the roundabout on the n32 from clarehall late one Saturday night.
as I was passing through there was a fella lying unconscious slap bam in the middle of the road.
going in the opposite direction was a driver I knew.
parked up beside the roundabout was a taxi with its hazards on. I presume your man must have fallen out of the taxi when it was going around the roundabout or something.
the next day I saw the driver I knew and I said I wonder what the crack was with that fella lying in the middle of the road.
"don't know. I did'nt stop. Cudda been a trap. He might of only been pretending and attack you if you tried to help"....
