Seems fair enough, I guess.
I'm not sure I believe the fair allocation bit, every base says that and I'm always suspicious of double jobbers working in the depot. Similarly, I wouldn't trust Dave not to repeat the manipulative bully boy tactics we witnessed when he worked for Hail0. Hence, while I hope the firm enjoys some success, I wouldn't like to be stuck with it as a dominant force.

New Exciting Promotion
We will shortly reveal a new offer for drivers before we launch this March. Offer coming very soon!
--------------------------------------------------
It's probably do 2 rush hour flag jobs and get..................................................................... priority rofl
-
I already have a really exciting offer pending from mytaxi (to commence March 5th)... not sure I'll be able to contain myself with all this excitement. If you spot me in a loading bay over the next couple of days you'll know why!
-
Did you notice their commission is “Per Shift”
So if you didn’t log out are you always on shift.
-
It looks like everything I would be looking for in an app I registered earlier this week so lets see if Daimler will trow more money at drivers in bonus payments to fight off the new boys or will they try to match them and will they stop extorting 2 euro from drivers earnings for access to certain jobs .Im still not a great fan of empowering apps to dispense our work but I like the no frills approach of flag so lets see how it works out .
-
HEADS UP If your registering with Flag before you start .Take a picture of yourself head and shoulders .pic of your paper licence ,picture of your spsv for the car and dash Id have your Bic bank number ready .You will need all of these and if you dont then you have to go back to the start .Its simple process no need to go into the office .If your a bit of a dummy like me when it comes to this sort of stuff get the kids or grankids to help it basic stuff for them

MyTaxi would want to stop taking 12 of my tips when someone pays by card. That’s why I never put in the full cash fare, as I was advised by someone in Hailo not long after they started

One for Rodent or Watty .Who are the Directors/Shareholders in Flag ?Is Tim Arnold involved ?
-
Richie Cummins is the man behind it
-
Richie Cummins is the man behind it
We questioned Whistles ownership so its only fair to establish who is behind this .Im sure they look in and might like to clarify who the directors and owners are .
-
I'd say most lads that use fora know (of) Richie. However, it's not purporting to be a co-op or offering shares to drivers in general so it differs from Whistle in that regard. It's a commercial operation headed by Richie:

Galway. Clever bloke, not sure what he studied but he's certainly mastered the art of marketing.

Not sure if I remember correctly but was Flag promising daily payments similar to Cap App, if not what is the routine?
-
I thought it was twice weekly. Once a week (a la mytaxi) suits me better. Maybe someone who has done a Flag job can clarify?
-
AFAIK, they want to get card jobs to be paid daily. Not sure initially when they will be paying
-
Answered on the latest email:
Hi Stephen
Our Marketing has begun! Ensure you're on shift by showing 'Free' in the top right of the map. Digital exposure will now be increased daily as we grow our network. Thanks to all drivers on shift, we hope you enjoy the €5 Bonus on on top of each job in March.
Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to working with you and providing you with a cost effective, fair service. We see drivers as partners not puppets and together we aim to ensure an excellent service to every passenger who requests a taxi using the app.
Kind Regards
The Flag Team
Latest News
Payment on card work every made every Tuesday and Friday.
-
Realistically, do you guys think flag has a chance of taking a decent slice of the market? They must have reasonable finance behind them to be offering €5 bonus on each job... but do the public know about them?
-
No one in Dublin mentions them. Barring drivers with a gripe against MeinKabf.
-
I think it will succeed. It has already built some pretty impressive alliances. It's certainly the biggest threat to mytaxi as far as the Irish market is concerned.
-
Do flag have any association with any motor manufacturer ?
-
It has some backing from Nissan - Used to be Datsun but more Renault these days.
-

So has Tim Arnold any input through his new job .
-
No.
-
It's gonna force Mytaxi to reduce their commission if enough of us sign up.One driver I spoke today called it 'flag it'...If anyone can take Mytaxi on these lads can.Whistle doesn't look likely to succeed.
-
You've nothing to lose by signing up. If you get some work off it you get a fiver bonus for each job commission free this month. Then you're only paying 6% for the next few months.
It's reasonable to conclude that mytaxi will react if Flag impacts on it's market penetration. I reckon it's more likely to go down the voucher/bonus route than "permanently" lowering commission. However, it might prefer to do nothing. Tactically it could make more sense to let it grow legs and buy it. That way the lads who set it up get rewarded rather than a shower of bone idle cabbies that wouldn't work in a fit ... and it could cost less.

Interesting..... drivers could set up a co-op and save a few bob each week and wait to see which app is worth buying out
-
Drivers won't save a few bob each week. Any takeover bids will come from commercial firms.

Who,and why ?
Doubt if they have multi billionaire backers.
Won't be long before drivers are paying freight, MEINKAB, FLAP, and GoWhistle and throw in Screwber. haardly be anything left to live off FFS!!

SMS received yesterday:
Update app for latest version. Marketing has begun with promo material across the city tomorrow alongside digital, jobs starting to flow. €5 Bonus on all jobs. We would ask drivers to please go on shift this weekend as we grow the customer base. Due to demand from drivers who have yet to download the app we've extended our Summer at 6% commission offer once Flag is downloaded before March 31st. Drivers whose accounts are pending, you may have uploaded incorrect documentation. Please edit or contact support 01-5414789. Driver tutorial...http://m0r.at/db8 (http://m0r.at/db8) Let your customers know Flag is available
-
"demand from drivers who have yet to download the app"
If they can't be arsed downloading the application they ain't demanding a whole lot.
-
So if you download and register with Flag before the end of the month your on 6% commission for the summer? Or do you have to refer 2 drivers as well?
-
I think you have to refer two drivers for the last month. If you're signing up please use my badge number (J5004) as your referral code. Thanks.
-
Had 3 flag offers in the last 24 hrs, none of which I could do as POB at the time. 2 in city centre, 1 in Dalkey.
-
Couldn't log in. Forgot my password and the reset facility didn't work. I done a 6.5 hour shift last night, I'd estimate approximately 200 mytaxi offers.
-
Had another 4-5, again, none of which were oppurtune.
-
Never turned MT on all night. No need.
-
Did a couple of MT pre-books during my shift trying to take advantage of the €20 offer, unfortunately both ended up being €20 plus after a gallop and both fuckers left me waiting on the busiest night of the year, turned it off after that, streets were too busy. Nearly afraid to go free on the poxy app because it had a meltdown trying to offer me jobs, never had a chance to go busy.
-
Had another 4-5, again, none of which were oppurtune.
Shows promise, I guess. Probably on par with Hail0 in it's fledgling days... but why don't you go busy when you're too busy to accept the offers rather than giving clients false hope? Having not worked for a while before Paddy's day (down to nothing other than pure laziness) I was expecting to see a sea of pink up above in Dublin. However, I honestly haven't seen one Flag roof sign sticker on a taxi to date.
-
SMS received today:
Hi Stephen, the flag taxi app is now live and jobs are going through the system. Our marketing team in conjunction with Google are launching an advertising campaign today. We would kindly ask you when you are working to make yourself available on the flag driver app by tapping free and accepting jobs it can be run in the back ground alongside other apps and remember all jobs are commission free with a €5 bonus on each job completed until the end of March. Call into 48 Upper Mount St. for stickers. Having trouble logging in? call 01 5414789 for support regards flag driver team.
Even got my name right!
-
Had to call support myself yesterday as I forgot the passwords I set up for both the driver and rider apps and the reset links didn't work for me. Spoke with both Ted and Dave, both more than happy to help and interested in driver feedback in general so if you have any issues or suggestions for improvements drop in or give them a call.
-
you sure it wasn't Ted, and Dougal you were talking to ?
-
Pope Frank visiting in August, I believe he does a good long mass.
