Title: Cold Weather
Post by: Rat Catcher on February 28, 2018, 10:20:02 am
SMS from mytaxi:

Hi Stephen,

Due to adverse weather conditions the mytaxi driver office on Mount Street will only be open between the hours of 10am-2pm today.

Our support team are available at any stage by email at dublin@mytaxi.com

If you are working today please use your best judgement and stay safe. The roads are icy and more snow is expected to fall this evening.

If you are staying home today please ensure that you have cancelled all accepted Prebooks.

We will be in touch throughout the day via the newsfeed of the driver app.

You think they'd waive the commission on a day like today.

I think Whistle is still commission free.

If you have stocked up on bread and milk, sit back, relax and enjoy your milk sandwiches. If you haven't, don't panic, you will have a short window in which to do so tomorrow from 12:00 to 16:00

This is the weather the shepherd shuns,
And so do I;
When beeches drip in browns and duns,
And thresh and ply;
And hill-hid tides throb, throe on throe,
And meadow rivulets overflow,
And drops on gate bars hang in a row,
And rooks in families homeward go,
And so do I.”

Ffs, a few snowflakes and a bit of a chill and the country comes to a standstill. It's full of snow here all week in norwigea and the place is moving like its a sunny day in Dublin

Cod, ling, haddock and some heat would be nice.

Sounds like ya might have a new customer on ur hands dere El Tonio !

I can't see our Rats doing de ''Oilskin's and Jumpers'' bit but I reckon he
might be well pleased with a fresh prize Cod or sea trout taken from
the Atlantic ocean that same day.

Dunno, Ken. I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Food tastes better when you catch it yourself. I went on a trip to pick mackerel out of the sea from a speedboat a few years back, good craic but very little skill required, just drop a line over and the suicidal little fukkers attach themselves to it. I've also done a little shooting over the years... deer and pheasant. All good fun.

I would agree, even to this day I would reckon the best meal that I have ever eaten was the Mackerel that I caught myself in c.1975 in Ballycotton and cooked and served by my Mother with fresh spuds and butter, nothing tastes better than your own Kill.

As fer Shooting, it's just not in me anymore. Today if'n I see a Spider in difficulty, then I will pick him up and place him somewhere safe, the thinking being; "He did Fook all to harm me, why should I harm him ?"

It is all good fun, but it might not be half as much 'Fun' if'n the Deer and Pheasant also
had AK 47's of their own and could shoot back !

Never shot a deer myself but the lads that do tend to share the catch.
