GardaĆ say they will look into claims that some taxi drivers in Galway could be using private insurance policies instead of commercial policies.
Councillor Frank Fahy, a taxi driver himself, told a meeting of the City Joint Policing Committee this week that he knows of cases where a taxi driver has taken out a commercial insurance policy.
He claims that after a month, they cancel the policy and take out a cheaper private policy, but still keep the commercial policy disc on the windscreen.
Councillor Fahy says Garda equipment can only tell if a vehicle is insured, but not what kind of policy it has.

i always that the insurance company will not return your money till they receive both the insurance policy, and the disc.maybe its different in Galway

They simply pay the first installment, then let the policy lapse. What's needed is genuine ANPR for the GardaĆ.

Sounds a birra Allrite to me !
Thanks DMG ::cheers

Why would a taxi have commercial insurance?

Checked my window last night. The NCT was from November. I forgot to put up the new one. Five months later and no one noticed.

Did the good councillor give the dodgy details to the Guards? Should be easy for them if they have the car regs etc
