never watched soaps but i used to catch a bit of Neighbours years ago while i waited for Supermarket Sweep to come on hosted by the late great Darndale Winton.

I was forced to sit through Neighbours when I was a kid by me sister...as a result I can't stand the Australian accent.Theres an Aussie who reads the news on the radio sometimes and I'm still compelled to change the station 30 years later.Weird I know.I think Neighbours was my Vietnam.

A bit like most TV programs, all made up shite.

How many police shows can there be, the bad person does something, drama, drama, drama, shoot a few guns, bad person gets arrested?? Next episode it’s the exact same, just a different bad person

FFS, the mother doesn't even watch soaps these days. As a kid Coronation Street was a staple on our TV. Any of yis remember the early days of RTE Relays where you could be watching UTV and it'd suddenly switch to HTV without warning... I remember my Uncle watching the cricket while over from the UK on holidays one evening and it made the switch... you could tell he was absolutely fuming despite maintaining a polite demeanour... ifn we had remote controls back then there would have been no convincing him that nobody in the room changed the channel!

Soaps were great when Little Joe moved to Little House on the Prairie then became an Angel .Such Reality .Now its all Rape and Drugs and Homosexuality .Bengy Reaedon was a honest to god farmer and Eamon the Thinker worked on the farm doing a bit of Casual Labour when the going got tough for Batty Brennan It was so realistic you could nearly smell Mary Reardons Soda Bread through the Blackand White Pye 24 inch .
