That's a long walk to Pairc Ui Chaoimh from both of those Taxi drop zones.
I checked em on google, Victoria road is 2.1km on the flat and
Pairc Ui Rinn is 2.2km but all downhill.
They should have let us use Center park road the same as the buses. ::rant
-
Note to any Ladies going to the concert, WEAR FLAT SHOES !!
-
What about the LBGTs?

The rickshaws are allowed to ferry them down from the Albert rd drop off down center Park rd, so not too bad... they’re bringing down the 7up sponsored rickshaws from the north too, so should be able to meet demand.
-
The same rickshaws that were rounded up by Revenue and put out of business?
-
It’s only a small ol Walk.
And loads of screaming kids.

There is only about 3 or 4 rickshaws working Cork city these nights since the big round-up last January.
What's the story with the North's 7-up rickshaws ?
Personally I will be bringing all my customers to Lapps quay to get the Shuttle service to the Marquee entrance.

I sent this to 'Prenders' on Red FM today;
To Neil,
From Ken Cash, Cork taxi driver.
After reading the Garda Traffic management plan in detail for the up coming Ed Sheeran concerts, then I would suggest this to your listeners.
If you are getting a Taxi to the venue be aware that the Taxi drop-off zones are by Goldberg's pub on Victoria road approx 2.1km from the venue, or by Pairc Ui Rinn on the Boreenmanna road approx 2.2km from the venue. Taxies are Not allowed to use Center park road or the Monaghan road to drop off customers, (except for Wheelchair Taxies and only if their customer is a "Disabled concert ticket holder").
Bus Eireann will provide a Shuttle bus service with a 5 minute frequency from 3pm to 8pm each day from Lapps quay, just beside Parnell Place (where the Park & ride usually is) this shuttle service which I recommend would bring passengers along Center park road and drop them off where the Marquee is held every year and about 100 meters from the venue.
Getting home is another story, many '202' buses will run from the Venue bar on the Blackrock road in to town if and when the Gardai and the Bus Eireann inspector reckon that the crowds have sufficiently cleared the Blackrock road to allow the buses to run safely.
The Shuttle bus does not run a return leg.
The nearest Taxi rank will be on Albert road approx 2.1km away, but keep in mind that there is about 40 Thousand people at the concert and only about 1000 Taxies working the city.
Wear Flat Shoes because you will be walking !
Best, Ken Cash.

I was taking the piss about the rickshaws... I was expecting outrage... oops

Customer...“Hi driver, Kinsale please “
Belker ... “Only dropping at Lapp’s Quay today”
-
Think I'll work Cork this weekend with mytaxi lol
-
Why would you want to try and drop someone all the way down to the concert ?
Thousand of people walking on the roads so the taxi traffic would be slow and dangerous to concert goers.
Let them walk.
-
Think I'll work Cork this weekend with mytaxi lol
Totally legal to do so

You will be ringing the trummer bell at least twice.

I reckon you are actually correct Korky, rickshaws as cyclists will most likely be allowed to use the Center park road/Monaghan road loop.

There be a free couch here fer ya if'n ya need it !

Customer...“Hi driver, Kinsale please “
Belker ... “Only dropping at Lapp’s Quay today”
With all the Garda Taxi restrictions in place, I'm only half interested in working the concerts.
Any job that I get anywhere I will take.
I have heard from a few drivers that they are not bothering with the concert and are going
to work the 'Kinsale 7's' down south in Kinsale.

Ger O Keeffe, Cork taxi driver was on Red FM (2/5/2018 Podcast from 1.39.18 to 1.44.06) having his rant about the disallowance of Taxies along the Center park road/Monaghan road loop, the same as the shuttle bus is allowed to travel.
http://www.redfm.ie/on-air/podcasts/neil-prendeville-on-redfm/episode/2nd-may-20181/?autoplay=1 (http://www.redfm.ie/on-air/podcasts/neil-prendeville-on-redfm/episode/2nd-may-20181/?autoplay=1)
I agree with him in full, but unfortunately his language 'On air' was foul and his knowledge of the road network was lacking in the extreme.
What he called 'Victoria Avenue' should have read as 'Victoria road'.
The Taxi drop-off point on Victoria road by the Topaz station/roundabout was also incorrect, the drop-off point is by Marina walk which is across the road from Goldburg's pub and he also omitted the other Taxi drop-off point by Pairc Ui Rinn.
When he referred to going in along 'Monaghan road', it should have been along 'Centre park road'.
In short I totally agree with him, I just wish he had done a birra homework before he went 'On air'.

I see all the MyTaxi pre-books lining up already fer Friday afternoon looking to go to Pairc Ui Chaoimh fer the concert.
I don't reckon that any of them know that Taxies are only allowed to drop 2km away from the venue.
They should be getting the Taxi to bring them to Lapp's quay where the shuttle bus will bring them to within 100 meters of the venue.

No sane driver is going to take any of those prebooks... my taxi should turn off cork prebooks in the area from 4pm until midnight.
-
Hopefully MyTaxi are looking in here and might inform there Cork customers going to the concert to book a MyTaxi to Lapp's quay fer the shuttle bus rather than Pairc Ui Chaoimh where the Taxies are not allowed to drop to.
-
Why do you give a fuck where you leave them? In - Money - Out.

Well that’s me turning off mytaxi for the weekend, that stupid pop up telling me that they’ll pay €16 min fare on bookings this weekend is doing my head in... I’ll try again on Monday

Nice... they’ve removed the pop up.

Well was it a bumper night ?

I had a quiet night in. I was "out out" on Thursday night so needed a rest.

ALL the after concert pre-book offers fer areas which Taxies were not allowed to go to all disappeared off the screen later in the evening.

The first Two were anyway, the afternoon work was plentiful even if you had to drop at an shorter destination.
I went home fer a nap at 8pm during the first Two concerts, restarting at 10.30pm.
The late evening work was totally manic, it was 'Pedal to de Metal' from 10.30pm till 4.30am in the morning,
and even after that the MyTaxi app hopped constantly till I packed up at 7am in the morning.

A mate of mine (not a bullshiter) did get the Hat-trick of ringing those Double Trummer Bells last weekend.
I didn't get the Hat-trick but I wasn't too far behind him !
-
You would have some pain in your ring after that.
Don’t think I ever heard of a driver taking that much over 3 days.
-
Great weekend, actually it was my best weekend ever, off on my hols tomorrow with an extra few bob for beers, thanks Ed.
-
Another 1800 !!!!!

Actually I do have a pain, it's in miz fingers, from counting all the cash !
Definately the Best Weekend ever fer Taxi drivers, and if'n ya worked the game properly and did all the afternoon work dropping to the concert, then had your Nap between 8pm and 10.30pm while the concert was in play, rejoining the 'Circus' fully refreshed and working till the early morning hours non-stop, then you could Ring that 'Trummer Bell' twice at your ease !
-

It was a great weekend, the weather was absolutely perfect fer the 3 days, 17 or 18 degrees with the sun shining.
I totally enjoyed the whole weekend (Getting paid a Monkee a night helped), it was a magical weekend, everyone was in up-beat mood and the atmosphere was Electric all over the city.
We (to include myself) as a service provider did our city proud last weekend. Granted we were 'Slaughted' as was every bar and restaraunt in the city, but in the end we got em all Fed, Drank and brought home safely.
Three Cheers to ALL Cork service providers, WE DID OURSELVES PROUD !
-

Money is not my goal Kenny, a happy wife a happy life, no point in having pockets full of money if your never home or able to spend it on the ones that are nearest to you....
Last weekend I could have worked if I wanted
But I decided to take the grandson out for a ramble and spoil him....
Now what would you prefer to do?

I won't be working tonight because I stayed out too late this morning, the reason I stayed out was to watch my son's match at 9.45am and btw he scored a Hummer to secure a 4-2 win !
If you remember the topic once posted on Roys called "Passing up a Long job", you commented on it about the 'Pink boots', that was a tour that I passed up about 3 years back worth about 300 to 500 Euro because my son had his first match fer his new team and I had told him that I would be there.
Also last christmas I passed up a Cork to Belfast job and one of the reasons was because I had promised my son that I would drive him and his mates to a teenage disco just outside of town.
-
Do the job and give the cash to the kid next time..
