What is the best way to deal with these guys using their private car as taxis? Transport authority? Guards? Revenue? Social welfare?

None of the above are illegaltaxies an illegal taxi would be a vehicle with decals and a roofsign that was not licenced to carry passengers for reward .So when you contact any of the authorities they will dismiss your complaint unless it is ACTUALLY an ILLEGAL TAXI .

I should have been clearer, I am talking about people who don't have a spsv licence but use their private car to drive people from A to B for financial reward.
-
The cops will tell you it's a NTA problem,
The NTA will tell you is out of their remit as they are private cars so tell the cops.

Sounds more like an unlicensed hackney than an unlicensed taxi. I don't think anyone cares these days, taxi/hackney firms are struggling to meet demand.
-
well I think people should care. these guys are usually driving heaps of scrap, driven by god knows who., who are paying a few hundred euro insurance, paying zero tax on what they take in, while we pay thousands in insurance and fees to the transport authority. And people think using uber is not safe.
-
People just want to get from A to B. Who thinks Uber is not safe, the 500 Million users? As far as Ireland is concerned, we know that taking a taxi is extremely dangerous. As SC used to remind us, a huge proportion of drivers have serious criminal records... not to mention drivers whose records are unverifiable. We've all heard countless anecdotes of immigrant taxi drivers raping and/or murdering their clients. Just because the mainstream media don't report these crimes it doesn't mean they aren't happening. Rape is a notoriously under-reported crime and murder victims never file reports.
-
Anything bad you usually hear about foreigners is made up by racists, examples, foreigners get everything free so they leave buggies at bus stops and just ask the social welfare for another free one. foreign taxi drivers only have to get 40% to pass the spsv entry test. Badgers/foxes/rats etc found in every local Chinese restaurant in the country. All a load of $hite.

I sent an email into the nta about the illegal lads picking up and dropping off up at keelings. Got a phone call from them about 2 weeks later telling me that they are investigating it. That was about 4 months ago. It's still going on.
-
Is it the same car all the time ?
-
yes, same car all the time.
-
yes, same car all the time.
And money exchanging hands
-
yes, guy is flat out all night.
-
It's not the same car all the time. There is 6 seater car and around 2or3 8 seater vans. Nta officer told me he was aware of it but very hard to catch them because of where it is.
-
Anyone know how are they advertising their services?

And it’s not a hackney. No Daisy’s on the windscreens.
Did you get a reg no ?
-
Just ring Crimesstoppers and report them for drug dealing..The NTA inspectors aren't much good without their smartphone app. They couldn't do fuk all about the rickshaws until they were suspected of selling drugs..
-
8 Seater vans could be LPSVs?

I left the taxi companies 3 years ago.

Are you not working for mytaxi anymore?

Are you not working for mytaxi anymore?
No. I employ them occasionally.
-
They employ you to cover their work hence you work for the biggest taxi/hackney dispatch firm in Dublin.

When they supply a car, pay a pension and entitlements, give paid sick leave, deduct PRSI etc, I'll consider them an Employer.
In the meantime, I'll use their App' as a service, connecting punters and providers.
Believe what you want to believe.
How's the Cricket going? Ireland to do well...Inshallah!! 8)

Reargards .
Anto Driver .
Dear Mr Driver
The Minister has asked me to respond to your most articulate correspondence with reguard to a quasi illegal non conforming for profit transport system. The Minister has advised that all for profit transport providers must be licenced .
Having held a meeting in his department office with Algernon Snape his Chief Advisor and Giddion Uttertwait Jr his second personal assistant and some senior Civil Servants from the Department of Transport .He has asked me to convey his thoughts on the matter to you .
Since the moritorium on issuing taxi licences has been introduced .Taxi drivers and their representatives have brought this issue on a regular basis to both the Minister and the Taxithingeys attention .The Minister accepts that unlicenced transport provision for Profit is illegal and as such hw will use his powers as Minister to Stamp it out .Having read carefully a submission fromIrelands Largest taxi dispatcher where they point out that they are unable tofull fill all requests for taxies at strategic times and especially in high density Tourist areas which deeply concerns the Minister as Tourism is also his brief .The Minister has asked the Dep Of Transport to write a report in which they are to set out if the Saloon Plate moritorium has had the desired effect of increasing the Wheelchair Accessible fleet and is it time toremove the moritorium as the issuing of new licences would allow those who are at present providing unlicenced services to regularise theit offering and also provide more taxies for Tourist .
The Minister would like to thank you for bringing this most interesting issue to his attention and he hopes his proposed solution will set your mind at rest that he is dealing with your concerns .
Respectfully Yours.
Minister for you put your hand out to be slapped and I will slap it .
