If the UK leave the EU will contributions made in the UK be concidered as qualifying contributions as they are now ?

Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty, will launch a public consultation on state pension reform today. It will help inform the design of Ireland’s total contributions approach to pensions that will come into effect in 2020.
I suspect people like us with a mix of private & self-employment with be fukked and will be working until they day we die ::fds
RE the UK contributions - I don't think even the British Govt knows how Brexit is going to end. But I suspect with so many British ex-pats living in Spain, France & even Ireland that they'll have to do a deal on pensions and pension contributions for everyone.

Its another robbery by FG .If your hen took time off to bring up kids and didnt sign for credits she will only get a reduced pension .

I'm 52 n a half and paid tax/stamps every year since I was 15, never ever claiming anything at all.

Working mans explanation or as best I can explain it .You need to have made 40 years contribution to claim a FULL Contributiory pension .That is full paid stamp or credit from the dole or sick benifit .A lot of Hens will fall foul of this if they left work for a few years to raise kids and didnt sign on for a credit .What it means id 40 years contribution social insurance stamp and you qualify for full contributory pension .but lets say you have only 20 years contributory stamps then the equation is you recieve only 50% of the full contributory pension and the rest will be paid at the lower rate of non contributory pensions .The sting in the tail might be that the non com portion of your pension could be meanstested .The government proposal is not yet published .A lot of this is to prevent aged imigrants moving to Ireland and getting full pensions even after contributing fuck all ,but it will have a huge effect on women who took time out to raise a family .Your prsi contribution as self employed count as a contribution .The Means tested provision is the bogey man especially if you choose to work after retirement age .

The long game is to get the age of superannuation up to 72...and that was mentioned on Roy's site aswell. The next thing before this is a "universal basic income" whereby Johnny in sector 45 can't have more than Vladimir in sector 39. The new name for this is "social contract" which is a euphemism for Big Society dreamt up by Blair, Merkel and Sutherland back in the early noughties.
You will be expected to do "community work" for points based on China's Big Data model...entitlement to medications and benefits will depend on your worth to the community. The need for motivation will switch from achieving reward based on merit to reward based on civic contribution. Johnny and Vlad won't have to worry about points to get into university as the "professional" classes will be replaced by automation. Do your own research.........Dr Graham Downing has been warning people about this for yrs but Dr Phil and Oprah seem more important to most drones today.

Why do you think that Irelands most right wing party promoted Gay Marrage and abortion .Gay Couples dont have kids .Abortions save on allowances .These things are economical Variables not Civil liberties .Clever bit with the Married Gays a Married couple get less old age pensions than two single people .FG played everybody for fools and the fools played along .

Gay couples do have kids John.....there are 2 women down the road from me in Tallaght with 2 kids and they let me know it every day they see me. Must stop walking the staffies in Tymon and cease wearing Old Spice immediately.

Well Lipp Im not going to disagree wih you cos under Irish law you can selfdetermin your sexuality so if you have a stickadicktome or a cutacuntinme you can identify your own sexuality .I intend to declare as a Woman to get my old age pension a year earlier then when Im old enough to get it as a man ill self declare as a bloke .

We have the best pension in the world .As I wrote on Roys when asked why I got into this Industry I said my licence was my pension .When Im pension age ill work the hospitals or supermarkets or train station if I get 50 quid a day after costs Ill be a very wealthy pensioner .Spoke to a fella use to be my boss on a site he retired last year after 40 years .Thought he would have a good Builders Federation pension he is getting 60 a week .
One of the possibilities that is desired by Government is that we have our children and their families back to live with us .That solves the homeless problem and Elderly care problem and they can help fund our old age .

A lot of Irish pensioners due to claim over the next few years will find their pensions were desimated in the Crash .Irish Life invested a lot of their pension funds in Irish Bank Shares which dropped from 22 euro down to 10 cent .I have a Friend had an Interest only mortgage and was planning to pay off the principle with his pension payout .Bank were happy to facilitate him as his cash sum from his pension covered the sum ..His Pension Crashed and his payout was less that 10% of what was projected ten years earlier .He is no homeless had to sell the house to pay the bank still got a little bit out of the sale got one of them wodden cabins and put it in his daughters back gardens .A lot of people think they have a good pension until they actually go to the actuarry for their final figures .

One of the options being discussed is that elderly people take in a refugee to mitigate the housing crisis. Now, i'll let you figure out the legal ramifications there. As for state pensions...i'll paraphrase what a retiring INTO rep said to me ex-girlfriend about 5 yrs ago...."Forget it....the days of getting 2/3's salary for life are well gone...expect to supplement your pension with a part-time gig". Now, the Govt has been lying to people for yrs getting them to contribute towards non-existent contributory pensions...ask a cop working now if he'll be able to retire at 53 with a lump and 30k p.a. like the last generation did... State pensions are a sham...if you're 55..you might get something...if you're 35....expect to work until you drop.

I never really understood the facination with pensions.If I'm too old or feeble to work then I'm not gonna be spending thousands on fancy holidays and nightclubs.What are yis gonna do with all the money when yer wearing adult pampers?All you need is a fridge a kettle and a tv and maybe a source of heat.Sure yer kids are gonna ignore ya most of the time anyway unless they need a babysitter.Old people don't spend much.

Who'll be there to whizz me in and out of the sanitarium then? 8) Nah, its not about pensions...it is about those who worked having everything taken from them because Shauna and Deano never had a chance in life what with the rigged system...Pavel and Lolita will be basking in the Balkan sun laughing when they hit 68...not so the Irish...too thick to see it.
Johnny is only worried abut his own retirement and he should be, because those who are debt-free will be forced into taking in a homeless person or face taxation on spare rooms.
