To get a taxi app to work drivers need to take the jobs coming in, even if they are further away. Not just 30 drivers. All drivers would have to. We had some drivers doing 20 jobs per week. If all drivers were pushing Whistle and taking the jobs, of course it would have worked. It is a real shame for the drivers who doing those jobs and were pushing it. Now there is no orders, cause everyone else did not do the same. They were left out on their own trying to push it as other drivers decided to work for bonus’ and street. That’s fine, but your bonuses there buried Whistle. You earned your money those weeks and helped kill the project made to help you.
The 30 drivers went out of their way to take the jobs ! Did you ?
It was a waste of 50 euro if you did not turn on the app and take the jobs that were coming in.
Some drivers claiming they have the answer now. They did not even do 1 single job with Whistle.
About the 50 euro. It was spent along with much higher amounts invested. All of it was spent. As explained, if we all didn’t take the jobs coming in, of course it was a waste of time !!!
No one is going to spend another few hundred thousand again to help drivers. It was a once off, and the chance was lost by not taking the customers that were ordering.
That’s what happened with Whistle. Drivers did not push it, and the same 30 drivers kept taking the work, but no one else did. Anyone got 100 thousand to kick it off again? Would drivers take the jobs if you did spend it? By the way the total requests for taxis was 41,000. We competed 10% of them.

Got this from a colleague in another place I thought you might like to be informed
-
Ermy ya bollix what other place..he was three years too late anyway.Flag should do better.
-
Is the meeting to clarify ownership/corporate structure cancelled?
-

No they wont .What have they got to attract the CUSTOMERS .There is a huge difference between building an app and running a business .PS The other place is $3"65421e Fucking Dyslexia does that some times .
-
Just thinking if Mytaxi were to start from scratch tomorrow I doubt they'd have as much success as they currently enjoy considering how much busier it is.We'd probably tell them to get stuffed too.
I wonder if the 30 lads working Whistle had been put off the Mytaxi app.
-
Iposted this in the other place In a different place on the tinternet .We discussed more apps I am not in favour of more taxi apps as Drivers will ultimately pay .If passengers have no penelty for Hailing then if they have two or three apps they will hit them all and we will be running around like headless chickens chasing jobs that are already gone .Mytaxi /Hailo .can be spoken to I know of one driver who met them with a list of updates and when he suggested reintroducing the PUC they said they didnt think the customers would stand for it but asked if there was a way to let them know .Then an email was sent to them pointing out that the only way they had of retaining drivers was to reintroduce the PUC because if they did not then the next app provider would and ALL as in EVERY driver would switch to the new provider .Mytaxi is the largest app that gives US the drivers a certain level of power over them .THEY HAVE TOO MUCH TO LOSE by messing with us .Think about it look on them as business partners whats good for them is good for us and whats good for us is good for them .Im sure if they were to reduce the comission to 10% and offer nearest car the job and do away with that Ambassador Crap more jobs would get covered and more drivers would run the app .
-
I first posted this whensomebody suggested Hailo invested big ...Hailo did not put their money in .They got over 50 million from drivers who did not charge the PUC who offered free waiting time .Whistle like FLAG will fai for one simple reason .What have they got to attract the passengers .Hailo had PUC free and free waiting .

10% is still too high.Maybe we need a sliding scale starting at ten then reducing depending on work covered like Flag.I think the volume of card work will be their biggest hurdle in the next few years. As soon as someone gets an audit there will be a scatter back to the ranks.
Maybe someone will start a rumour and spoil the party.I haven't heard of a driver getting called in to Revenue in ages.
-
Hail0 raised over US$100,000,000 investment, erm. When it was rescued by Daimler it hadn't a pot to piss in.

Why would card charges matter if your honest and pay your way .If you consider the costs of running an app the tec staff and the sales staff and office staff I dont think 10% is unreasonable .FFS has hell frozen over ME defending Mytaxi/Hailo
-
If they've enough cash to be incentivising new entrants you know they're doing too well.

Venture capital Rodent badly run as I pointed out to the Big Chief in an Emotional phone call .But without the co operation of Irish drivers the Irish business would of tanked
-

Your giving this mirror vision Merc If they were doing well they wouldnt need to incentivise new entrants in to cover work .
-
I don't think toppling mytaxi would be an impossible feat...We got close to closing them down just before they caved on the PUC.Maybe the right app hasn't arrived yet.Flag have the right idea playing the fairness card.

Merc how do they attract the Customers .Drivers will not migrate to another app if they dont have the CUSTOMERS and why would customers care about driver fairness .Your looking at this from a drivers utopian position .Its all about the CUSTOMERS simple as .
-
Hail0 played that card too... it was going to put all those mean and nasty Irish dispatch firms out of business by forcing drivers to give discounts of up to 33% and charge it's best drivers €240/week for the privilege. To be fair, as FDS used to remind us, there's a reason we drive taxis for a living hence we loved the idea!
I doubt Richie would refuse a few hundred million for Flag if it ever gets successful enough to attract such an offer.
-
Regarding new entrants...Mytaxi realise when you're new and fresh you're gonna chase every shite job and cover more than the useless fukkers like me hiding from the tax man. New lads have massive expenses and are generally more compliant.Card work doesn't bother them at all.
-
The Swedish taxation authorities found that compliance is greatly enhanced among drivers who subscribe to high tech dispatch firms, lodging the relevant report with the EC for reference. The taxman isn't an idiot, he knows human nature hence he knows he will find much lower compliance levels among drivers who avoid working for dispatch firms that issue detailed invoices.
-
There is another dynamic involved in Mytaxi Drivers are emotionally invested they are use to it .A lot of drivers are predictable ,work the same patch same ranks same apps .Emotional Investment with apps and Social media is a new phenomenom .If I get into the car even to drive to the bookies I turn on the meter and the sat nav .Believe it or not a lot of drivers could not break the emotional bond with Mytaxi /Hailo and thats part of what they rely on .That is also a problem for them as a lot of Ambassadors would feel betrayed if they were downgraded by a nearest car gets the job scenario .Thats the problem Mytaxi need to evaluate and solve .How do you level the playing field so you encourage more drivers to cover more work .My suggestion is tough love just do it and rely on the Emotional investment to bring ambassador drivers back to the fold .
-
Anyone give 50?
Glad I didn't
Hear john the owner is awol lads screaming for money back

Scandinavian taximeters are directly linked to inland revenue, the Brits aren't far behind: https://www.ft.com/content/0640f6ac-5ce9-11e7-9bc8-8055f264aa8b (https://www.ft.com/content/0640f6ac-5ce9-11e7-9bc8-8055f264aa8b)

Rats will know, but what is the retrospective limitation for under-declared tax returns? You can claim for the last 4 yrs but can they do the same, or does it go further back?
-
Glad to see one of these companies gone, hopefully flag will be next, and I hope all the big boys collapse after that.all these fukkers are trying to do,is make this kip the same as northern Ireland ,where it is compulsory to be alinged to one of them

The big dollars would be in getting pubs, night clubs & shops in the system, compared to them we are peanuts.

Including taxi companies running hundreds of cars through revenue returns. They usually have half that.

The tax man can go back to the foundation of the state in 1922.
-
Cheers.......didn't know for sure but that's very dangerous for all those concerned.
-
6 years, I think LL... except in cases of fraud where there is no limit.
-
Ok. Brother had to explain himself away to them several yrs ago and they let him hang himself. Thing about people who think they are smart is that they always forget about paperwork being smarter.
-
Unlikely they'd go beyond the 6 year limit. While technically all under-declaration could be construed as fraud they'd have to really hate you to do that or have some clear evidence of complete piss taking.
-
There was some chap who claimed he had been issued tax clearance certs automatically who was pardoned a while ago. Nearly sure he was a Polish man who had married in Ireland and was nabbed after showing his marriage cert to revenue....they realised he wasn't being deceitful. Some other county's tax officer had been sending him clearance certs even though he hadn't applied for one..........Ireland etc...hung for a crime that never happened and drawn and quartered for being naive.

I successfully applied for TC2s myself for a few years despite having outstanding liabilities, you just had to ask for it!
-
If you invested 50 in Whistle and only covered one job can you off set the other 49.50 as business expence or does that come under Fuck Off ya tick and become non deductable .
-

Seems he didn't have to ask was my point....strange or is it...
-
Seems odd, I always had to ask and sometimes had to pay! In fact I had to make a four figure settlement when the TC2 regime was introduced for our trade back in 2004, in respect of outstanding liabilities for the previous 6/7 years. Fortunately I had made returns every year, they just didn't shout loud enough to get paid. I was equally fortunate insofar as they didn't apply any interest or surcharges for late payment.

It's deductible regardless.
