When your government does this ...Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has defended the use of private investigators to snoop on hospital consultants in effort to fight a High Court pay claim.
The move has been described as an “abuse of power” by Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin – but the Government is not for budging.

He's defended it by saying (my interpretation) - we spy on poor people getting welfare and we spy/audit the middle class PAYE people so why not spy on rich people?
Co-incidentally but unrelated - story in today's Irish Times... Retired doctor agrees €1.86m settlement with Revenue (https://www.irishtimes.com/business/economy/retired-doctor-agrees-1-86m-settlement-with-revenue-1.3528027). How many lone parent allowances would you get for 1.8million?
