Some bloke called JohnM started a thread back in Oct 2017...  lol

There is a rumor doing the rounds that the free 10 minutes car park time at the airport is to be discontinued .Cannot confirm if this is true yet .

MfH replied with text from MyTaxi (I think):
What happened?was it jammed with taxis or something?

Hi Handsome,

Dublin Airport Update: Due to the abuse of parking privileges at Dublin airport short term carparks, the DAA have removed the free pick up time for Taxi drivers.

Normal car parking fees will now apply. When using the car parks please ensure that you are parked in a designated spot and not obstructing traffic.

It is Illegal for Taxis to Pick up on any Airport Roads even if this is a prearranged collection.

Thank you for your cooperation.

It's all very confusing. I had a client ring me to tell me he's waiting in the "mytaxi car park" a few months back. Anyone know where that is?

There's a car park at the bend of T2 departures.  €1.50 for an in and out.

Have paid coming out of T1 in less than 15 mins. Have never had to pay "yet" coming out of T2 in less than 15 mins.

Answered them today and gave the very pleasant young lady a piece of my mind - whinging about such matters as the mickey mouse fare input process, the inability to enter a destination on a street hail, the unnecessarily complicated scrub payment claim system and such like. I kicked off by asking where I am supposed to collect passengers at DAP but I'm still none the wiser. All she could tell me was that the firm met DAA a couple of weeks ago and agreed nothing and that we are no allowed pass parking fees on to clients.

Anywaysanall, she suggested that the app has been significantly updated since I last used it (c.19 July) so I agreed to give it a try with a view to updating my feedback via email.

I wonder how much they are spending on the call centre. Back when Tim was in charge they could get all the feedback they needed for the cost of a few phone calls and/or some of his and Fionas time!

They wonder why drivers turn off then they send this out....just now.
   mytaxi Manual
    Hi Grumpy,

Do you have any friends or family who might be interested in taking their SPSV entry test and joining you in the Irish taxi industry?

The NTA are looking for new drivers and we're doing all we can to help them pass their test and get out on the road with the mytaxi Manual.

mytaxi Manual is our free to use and purpose built online training platform designed to help you prepare for your SPSV. We’re currently offering learning modules for both the Dublin and Cork SPSV entry tests.

So far we have helped hundreds of drivers in Ireland pass their SPSV test with many more studying at this very moment.

By following the link below and sharing with your friends and family they’ll have all the information they need to get started with the mytaxi Manual.

Best thing that could happen the industry, Merc. You've got to see what the big pic is...yours is the last generation of home-grown lazy people.

Correct. She obviously though I'd been absent for longer. She did ask a couple of times when I last used the app but I only gave vague responses such as "a while back" as I had to consult my cash book to determine the precise date and I wasn't at my computer when talking with her. You woulda thought they'd have access to such data when making cold calls, more inept management... bring Tim back!
