Title: Pope
Post by: john m on August 25, 2018, 11:38:07 am
Just watched the Pope drive from the Port to the Park about 300 people is all that bothered to line the roads .If there was any doubt that the Churches day in Ireland is over .I wonder who will get the biggest crowd in the Park Ed Sheerin or El Pappa .Be surprised if they see 250,000 .Sort of sad end of an era .RTE presenters struggling for something to say .

RTE is heavily censored by the powers, no negativity of our little utopia can be broadcast on the national Airways
Vlad Putin is a amateur in comparison to our rulers,
I see the journal had a pole,
On the Pope's visit to Ireland,
which has now been taken down,
Anyway the majority of people in Ireland are not in favour with Papa peados visit,
I see the LGBT protesters are being restricted by our Garda,

Daly bud,
The Catholic Church in Ireland is no more, The fucked up , literally,
Religion is a crutch for a vulnerable insecure people,
The people of Ireland are more educated now,
Our  women who have been and still are to this day treated like second class citizens by the Catholic Church,
Our women have grown much more confident and independent,
Try telling them they cannot use contraceptives,  rofl

Watching on TV Not a great Contrition by El Pappa but back to crowd size More people last week for the Losing Hockey team than the Pope. The Pictures dont lie .Nobody interested not to many families lining the streets As Our kid says the Pope in the Park is just Electric Picnic For Grey Hair .I think a lot of people watching on TV who have tickets for tomorrow will be put off by the lack of interest and wont turn up .

Constantine was a clever lad when he invented catholicism. He incorporated some Roman symbols in the religion, the aul crucifix ,reminding the plebs that Rome had the power to kill ya. The halo was fashioned from the old Roman god Sol Invictus to pacify Romans objections to the new branch of christianity. It`s all bollox, man written bullshit to keep the masses in check. It`s the same shite politicians spew for the same reasons.

Yes private, no problem staying private,
But blocking up the capital with their bulshit is far from private,
Is the opposite,
It's in our face,
You mentioned the homeless,
This shit is costing well over 30 million,
Now many houses would that build,
Our young people haven't a fucking snowballs chance in hell of getting a loan.
Or life saving operations for our children,
They are just part of a list,
These RC oligarchs are Loaded let them pay for their own show,
Not the Irish tax payers,
Let this be the last hurrah.
It's total bollock.

Watching the TV coverage myself. I enjoyed the speeches. An Taoiseach made his points well and, at least as far as abortion is concerned, Pope Francis made it quite clear that the Church does not support the State or, more accurately, the will of the Irish people - 78% of whom identified as Catholic in Census 2016. Perhaps the most poignant quote was Leo quoting Francis, the build bridges not walls because walls tumble bit. While I was in Italy earlier this month two bridges collapsed, one well covered by International media.

Not sure I appreciate the logic in asking a celibate man about marriage. Also wondering why he's speaking in Italian - I believe he speaks English and, from his time in Milltown, one can assume he knows that's the language we generally speak. Another thought, why does he need so much security... is the protection of the good Lord himself insufficient, is it God's will that he is protected from, well, God's will?

No disrespect intended, just random thoughts popping into my head, nothing more.

Indeed. What a difference 39 years makes.

The significantly reduced numbers coupled with significantly increased racial diversity clearly reflects how our little country has progressed in social, political, economic and cultural terms. The current day division between Church and State was underlined by Pope Francis in his opening speech at Dublin Castle on Saturday as he criticised the way the Irish State and the Irish people - 78% of whom profess to be Roman Catholic - have failed to protect the poor and the unborn. Notably, he stopped short of addressing our enshrining the rights of homosexuals in law. As a reforming Pope maybe he can envisage similar changes to Roman Catholic doctrines noting that the LBGT crowd were allowed participate in the Phoenix Park Mass, being part of the gifts procession.

I did. It was cold for much of the day, although I took it off for a while to cool down after the walk from Laurel Lodge to the park. The walk back wasn't so long. We took refuge in Myos and took a taxi from there given that the traffic restrictions had been lifted - well ahead of schedule.

His inability to read music didn`t diminish the respect the Wrecking Crew had for Glen, watch the documentary, it`s very entertaining.

First time I heard that was when it was the theme intro for a racing/sports programme in the 70s/80s.  Here`s the original by Mason Williams https://youtu.be/EEzyrpfrPEI
