I got a tear starting in my back leatherette seat cover and I will try her process,
the only problem is getting her recommended adhesive, it can only be got on ebay from the states (11Euro incl P+P).

Anyway after watching a few utube videos she seems to be the best and I will post a few
Before and After photos of my own seat tear when the adhesive arrives in a few weeks time.

I just get mine done by the lads in Streamline here in Drog, they do a saloon car for €280(might be even less) very hard wearing with piping around the edges, any repairs they do they replace the entire piece for little coin.

No worries Watty, my seat cover is not fully torn yet,
(https://i.postimg.cc/PL7zCj06/Torn-seat.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/PL7zCj06)
but it is heading in the wrong direction and unlikely to pass next suitability.

I have the flexible glue ordered and will post pictures when done.

I did or rather me Chungwan did all the necessary repair work on the seat cover laying down the denim patch underneath and applying the correct glue in the correct way, the photos don't really do it justice as with the flash on it shows every flaw and also the white spots on the seats were from the snow which fell in when I opened the door.
Overall she did a great job and that was a few weeks ago and many hundreds of bums have been through that seat since.

Granted it looks a bit Naff UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT but it is rock solid and I have no doubt about it passing suitability.

I'd be surprised if that passed suitability Belker. With the money yer making you could have easily gotten the back seat redone completely for a little extra.I mean it's not even real leather you're repairing.

Don't know about Cork,
But Dublin suitability are on a mission
That seat will not pass for sure,
They are now scrutinising the cars looking for any reason to fail the car,
Small scuffs on the paintwork scratches or dents is a fail
A driver failed for no surgical gloves in his first aid kit,
Beware looks like they were told to increase their profits,

I paid top buck for my leather seats when I got my avensis about three and half years.
around the second week in I noticed a nice 4 inch slit on the side of front passanger seat.
I said to myself these things are gonna fall apart by the looks of things.
three and half years on there's not as much as a blemish anywhere except for that one gickin 4 inch slit when they were brand new.

@ Belker - a bit of black shoe polish carefully applied on that tear should hide things from a quick inspection.  Just remember to wipe it off afterwards!  But if the LRA are getting serious, it might not pass.

I have some cheap seat covers that I put on over my worn leatherette seats.  Take them off after the test.  Can't believe I've gotten away with it but so far so good?

I use a permenent black marker pen fer that.

Good idea, Thanks.

The photos were shite, but the work is actually quite good and solid as a rock.
Here is some better photos.

(https://i.postimg.cc/XBn26t01/Repaired-seat-cover-3.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/XBn26t01)

(https://i.postimg.cc/bdRC9YQ7/Repaired-seat-cover-4.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/bdRC9YQ7)

I can't see it failing suitability as there is no actual tear in the seat.

I bought a cheap set on ebay from Malaysia (15.23), just to be sure, to be sure.

but I still reckon it will pass suitability 'as is' and I will put it through 'as is' in April.

Based on the assumption that there is a crowd up in Galtymore Road in Drimnagh doing seat covers, I'm going to take a stab at yes.

Seems reasonable... feel free to add the firm's contact details to the Useful Contacts thread in the Member's Lounge.

Santry is where I've suffered most damage to my vehicles over the years, including a roof sign being smashed by some gurriers launching missiles and a front bumper being destroyed by some gurriers who threw a shopping trolley off Shantalla bridge. Coincidentally, my shitebox nua suffered it's first missile attack last night on Priorswood Road from a gang of youths. No noticeable damage on this occasion, sounded like a loada ballbearings or shot pellets hitting the side of the car, could easily break a window if properly aimed I guess.

I thought it was reasonable considering some of the prices i got,the highest being €160 for the door and €160 for rear quarter from one firm,
I'm extremely pleased, you can't ferl any rippling when you run your hand over it,he arrived at 9.30am and left at 1.30 pm....he says it's 80%....i think he's a bit modest tbh,
Yeah,i'll add him to the useless contact list!! lol

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but this is just an update for anyone else searching for repairing leather seat covers...

I saw a "Mannol Leather Repair Kit" in my local motor factors and bought it for €12.  I think he made up the price so I don't know how much it should be.  Anyways, I used it on some rips on my leatherette seat covers and it passed the suitability test!  It's not the greatest repair kit in the world but it's cheaper than getting the seats redone.

Found this video and it looks like the same kit but different manufacturer --> https://youtu.be/HlEKvUhdDPY

What sort of jippos do yis be picking up?I have the same covers for six years and the original seats are still in good condition.Wipe them with a baby wipe every so often and their perfect again. Why cover up good seats with crappy covers?
Title: Re: Repairing Leather/Leatherette seats.

I covered my seats with custom made leatherette because my original seats are cloth and even one leaking chungwan would put me off the road fer a night, with leatherette ya just give it a wipe and off ya go !
I also keep plenty of newspapers and kitchen roll under the back seat so if'n I do get a pisser/gawker then the wet newspapers are much easier to throw out rather than mopping up all the piss/gawk.
