If it wasnt a money making racket they would just issue penalty points.why should there be a fine ? How does that help save lives ? Points will effect your insurance which will penalise you for speeding,but why should you have to pay the dept of justice 80 euros ?

For a change the grease monkey isn't far off the money. They can have as many relevant offences as they like but with no enforcement it won't make one iota of a difference. We wouldn't even need personnel to police speed limits, cameras are all that's required.

The singling out of the motorist for selective law enforcement continues unabated while all around you all kind of scum bag is buying,selling,snorting whatever the fuck they want and not caring a toss where they source the money,old people tied up and beaten and the ethnic minority have carte blanche to "Fix" (elderly people's mostly) roofs and gutters knowing the chances of them being caught is next to zero.
Billions wasted by bent bankers brought us to our knees and the plod will be busting their bollocks to catch you doing 65KMS in a 60KMS zone on a 6 lane dual carriageway....go figure.

The rural roads that are not to far outside the City with no footpath,
No proper street lighting,
Pedestrians walking at night in black clothing no vis vest or lighting of any kind.

Ross is a certainty tobe re elected .Anyhoo reading about the yellow vest protests in France one of the plans was to introduce the suitability test as part of the French NCT.How long before all motorists will have to carry vest,triangle torch and extinguisher and all this stuff have to be checked and fines if you dont have it .

Curfewed speed limits on the M50.......money racket. Dropping from 120 kmph at 7 am to 80 kmph at 7.01 am will cause accidents. This is a cosmetic exercise in corporate revenue collection.

Whats even more obvious that it is a money making racket is,the locations of those go safe vans.always in places where there is no history of accidents,but its easy to catch drivers,and also in places where the speed limit suddenly drips

Road Traffic Bill before Cabinet;
Minister for Transport Shane Ross has said the current system of a flat fine for speeding is not deterring enough motorists from exceeding the limits.
Mr Ross is planning to bring a memo to Cabinet aimed at introducing new graduated fines for people caught speeding.
The Government will consider the proposed legislation as part of the new Road Traffic Bill.
Mr Ross has said he wants to discourage and prevent motorists from speeding, given what he describes as the "appalling number of people" who are being killed as a result of speed on the roads.
He said that under the bill, the faster a driver goes, the more they will get fined and the more penalty points they will receive.
It would mean that speeding would no longer be viewed as a single offence.
Instead, those driving up to 10km/h above the speed limit could pay a fine of €80 and receive between three and five penalty points.
If you drive up to 20km/h over the allowed speed there would be a €150 fine and between four and six points placed on your licence.
Motorists driving between 20km/h and 30km/h over the speed limit will be hit with a €200 fine and up to seven penalty points.
Anyone driving in excess of 30km/h above the speed limits will be charged with dangerous driving.

The odd time wen I driving in lidls car park it says I'm free to do 120km ....an i was fiddlin wit it one day cause I tink it can adjust yur speed an it nearly fuked me out the windscreen one day so I've left it alone since..... I'm not able anymore..... Burnt out fuked ::sleep

Yeah..have it MFH....the most annoying piece of shite....it was on when i got the car and even with the illumination set at it's lowest it fuks with your eyes(night time anyway)i was getting headaches from the fukin thing,switched it off a few weeks after i got the car....on safety grounds!!

Yeah..you would think but i also had it set at it's lowest(elevation?) on the screen...and it was still a nuisance...imo anyway,stuff like that wouldn't sell a car to me anyway.

Probably all newer cars. It's been on every holiday rental I've used in the past 3/4 years. It's certainly useful when you're abroad and not necessarily familiar with the roads as it's easy enough to miss a speed limit sign when concentrating on directions/going round traffic circles the right way/etc. Interestingly, they're not mapping software dependent, they actually read the physical road signs.

If I'm paying you to drive me somewhere I'm entitled to expect you, as a "professional" driver, to be capable of operating your car in accordance with the rules of the road. It's the only tiny bit of skill that you have or ought to have.

Not sure how Hal found it irritating. In every car I've experienced it in (off the top of my head Ford, Opel/Vauxhall, Renault, Skoda) it's been pretty passive, just a little speed limit sign constantly displayed near the speedometer. Some have additional warnings such as an orange or red symboi if you exceed the limit.

Garmin Sat Nav, 80Euro in Halfords, it shows your speed and tells you when you are in a safety camera zone and Bleeps to tell you if you are are driving over the speed limit within a safety camera zone.

Well Merc has it for years now.
Also some taxi meter has a speed alarm.

As fer the Muzzies and not offending them, I'm not a Tree-hugger or an animal
rights activist, but I respect nature, plants, animals, Etc. and I also respect the
food chain that provides me with my meat daily. What I do Not respect is Halal
meat and how the animal is disgracefully slaughtered, Google it if you have a
strong stomach. I see the animal rights activists out with their plac-cards reguarly
protesting about Greyhounds and Dairies and Puppies, but never a word about Halal !

Very few, if any at all, but that is all history and it is 'Spilt Milk', most on here (like myself) would
at some stage in our childhoods have been either Verbally, Physically or Sexually abused by the clergy.
Thankfully fer me it was just Physical but it can still haunt me at times, what annoys me the most is
that I was terrified to tell my Mother about it, I dunno why but at Four years old I had already learnt
that 'Stum' was the best policy, to this day almost Fifty years on my Mother who still Loves me with

I can honestly say that none of my 5 kids were ever abused or bullied while
in school and if it did ever happen then it was because it was well kept from me.
My youngest daughter, now an adult lady and still 'Mad as a Hatter' was once
in play-school as a Three year old, "Perky-Poos" had No fear of anything,
she knew well that she had a big ginger ugly Dad right behind her and
that anyone who even looked sideways at her would draw his wrath.
As she was in her Play-school this ultra P.C. Bitch, whom I had taken a
total dislike to fer her over dramatic sense and put-on American accent,
gave out to her, so "Perky-Poos" up with her Three year old hand and
Fookin Whacked her ONE !
"Perky's" got Mangled, her Mom Mangled her, her Grand-parents Mangled
her, the school Mangled her and then when they were all done 'n dusted and I
was left alone to put the kids to bed after de ex-wife had went off to college.
I put all the kids off to bed with the usual short prayer and sometimes ultra
long story and kissed them all off to sleep and then I returned to 3 year old
"Perky's" bedside, I said to her; "You were Right my Little Love, be No one
stand in your way" and I kissed her on the cheek, surprisingly she sat up and
kissed me back which was unusual fer her to show any type of affection
before falling off to sleep.
I could tell "Perky-Poos" stories all day long cos the girl was a walking Pantomine.
At aged 3 "Perky" was the Tiny Dot at the end of the Tiny Tots line in the Cinderella
panto in the Cat Club in Cork. "Perky's" had done her few very cute bits fer the
audience on the First few nights and I knew "Perkys" well enough to know that
she was only warming up. On the Fourth night the stage manager approaches me,
he sez to me; "Isin't she doing so well ? I encourage her to do her own thing",
I reply; "No, No, Don't encourage her, ya don't know what your dealing with here !"
