Strange one last night, approx 23:51 a good looking American young lady flags me down in Santry having just got off the bus at the stop just after Shanowen Rd, southbound. I don't want a ride, says she (shame, thinks I)... I just want to give you a free sandwich... er, OK says I taking the offering... Chicken salad OK asks she... yes, thanks says I... perhaps noticing the size of me, would you eat two says she... no, one is plenty thank you says I and off she went. As it was close to midnight I turned around in the Comet forecourt to enter the home stretch and then got a job off mytaxi from the Swiss to Ballymun. Just about midnight when I dropped so that was me done for the night... heading back towards the M1 I was feeling a bit peckish so examined the sandwich... actually, a wrap... all properly sealed, brand name of Nero or some such, was looking good to eat until I got to the back of the pack... best before 16 Jan... as it says "before" 16th my OCD wouldn't let me eat it on the 16th never mind the fact that we were now a good few seconds into the 17th... shame thinks I... nice of the young lady to give it to me anall, etc... so rather than let it go to waste I brought it home and recovered the chicken out of it for the cat... he seemed to enjoy it so it was probably perfectly alright, he won't eat the chicken from the chicken shack down town, the only takeaway that's open when the pubs really close!
