Lies, damned lies and statistics.........

Jamaica’s security situation continued to deteriorate in 2017, fueled partly by destabilizing government actions against gangs, including the loudly-trumpeted but deeply-flawed launch of a new urban security plan. A total of 1,616 murders were recorded throughout 2017, a nearly 20 percent increase in comparison to the previous year.

he end of the year proved rather tumultuous for Honduras, as the country sank deeper into another political crisis.

And yet, Honduras’ annual murder tally dropped by 26 percent, from 5,150 in 2016 to 3,791 in 2017, yielding a homicide rate of 42.8 per 100,000 inhabitants. Authorities said that the 2017 figures marked Honduras’ lowest homicide levels in a decade.

Overview. In 2017, the estimated number of murders in the nation was 17,284. This was a 0.7 percent decrease from the 2016 estimate, a 20.7 percent increase from the 2013 figure, and a 5.0 percent rise from the number in 2008.

Wonder do the mass-murders committed by Manchurian Candidates in the States even figure in the stats, and how many murders are as a result of gun crime in these hell-holes like Honduras? America, like Australia has a huge population imbalance living in cities and nobody in the real rural areas. I'd say Dublin is far more dangerous than Los Alamos.

Lots of the big ex-military lads from the Baltic States carry them......and they can use them. I walked past one lad on the door outside a pub on Parnell St heading for Croker last Sat night and he must've been 7 foot tall. Sometimes you see him in Heuston in black........thinks he's Russian. Definitely 6 or 7 inches taller than me in shoes.

Big Albert is dead twenty years today so the boys held a  remembrance toss school round the back of the Church .Billy the Bastard had a bet with Tommy Two Fingers  .The bet is allowing for the difference in population with a ratio of 16 Brits to one Paddy .Will there be more  stabbings in Britain or shootings in Ireland ,Score sofar is 39 stabbed to death with only 1 shooting dead sofar this year .

What way would you bet more shootings or more stabbings .I went with stabbings only shootings in the Republic of Ireland count .

True, but everyone knows it's on the Northside and not the non-existent Westside, same as every Geoffrey and Thomasina living in DL/Rathdown know they're all Southsiders. My contention is that people from Tallaght and Clondalkin and Blanch are being forced to educate those not from Dublin as to the fallacy of a non-existent borough....Fingal people know they're from a valid borough.....even though they're actually Dubs.

North County Fingallians only consider themselves to be Dubs when it comes to football, in my experience. They certainly don't view city folk as their own. West Dublin Fingallians are considerably less "clannish", probably because their towns and villages either didn't exist or were very sparsely populated before the development of council estates to facilitate expansion of the city.
