Tips are part of the fare and should be included as earnings and tax paid on them .
-
You think we should pay tax on tips ?
-
What tips? ::fds
-
You think we should pay tax on tips ?
part of your earnings yes you should pay tax .
-
What's all this about tips ? I don't get enough tips to get myself a coffee. never mind interest the revenue.
-

But like me and Vicki you declare them as revenue ......dont you .!

I read that article last week, it got shot down because it was almost impossible to regulate.
Anybody declaring tips on MyTaxi Cash jobs ?

You go out with your float at the end of your shift you add up your cash deduct your float plus any expenses from that and that is your earnings including any gratuities which is all taxable revenue .
-
Its fukking morally wrong of those pricks to want to tax your tips.im sure when people give a tip, they give it with the intention of it being a kind of thank you.they dont expect the Hungary cunts in kildare st want a peice of the action,in sure they would think twice about it otherwise
-
Daly you're one of the few lads that still get tips regularly.Anyone working the apps gets close to fuk all in tips.It happens on only one in fifty app jobs or 2%.Some might do better than me but it's a lot less than street work.
-
I just checked,I average about 80 a month in tips on over 400 jobs,so 20 cent a job.
-
In Febuary I earned 430.00 on the app and got 4.60 in tips.If you were working the ranks on the Northside it would be fairly common to get a tenner for a fiver or seven quid job as the passengers usually know you've been there waiting a little while.Massive difference in street vs app tips.Night drivers probably do even better as there's alcohol involved.
-
Declare everything.
It’s a long time since I heard of someone balancing their float at the end of their shift.
-
Most Mytaxi fares paid by card don't include tips...and obviously the ones that do tip...Mytaxi take 12% of that.
-
What’s a cash fare ?
-
Doe that include tips on cash mytaxi jobs, MfH?
Tips have always been taxable, DM.
-
I cant believe that knowing what you do know, that you STILL want to work with a dispatcher.I will never again reveal on this forum roughly what I earn, but I can guarantee you that on the 3 nights a week I work,I make at least as much as any of you radio,or app EMPLOYEES.
-
I think I recall you writing to Hail0 on the subject many years ago, DM. If memory serves, they confirmed that tips paid on account are subject to commission.
-

Making a killing on the soilage?
-
No nothing to do with soilage,in fact the cunts wont pay, they always offer to clean it themselves.my theory is ,its not about working hard, its about working smart
-
^^^Tips on Mytaxi cash jobs are rare too.I don't put them in as I've been left short of the odd scrub few so I need to be compensated and can't be bothered chasing them up.
-
In fairness,I get what you're saying.
I usually earn more on a 6 to 10 pm shift than I would 8.30 to 3.30 daytime.
-
Honestly I could not be more serious. I dont knowaccept how you fellas reckon you makehave more by being aligned.just try it for one week .turn off your app,or radio, and give an honest report at the end of it
-

I don't believe you're required to input tips on cash jobs unless the client requests it to be shown on his receipt. That's what was suggested in a reply from Hail0 that was posted on Roy's Blog on foot of a query on the subject that I thought was submitted by DM... could have been someone else, I guess.
-

I've tried, there's no acceptable work without the app where I work. I reckon I'd have to work Dublin city centre to earn a crust without working for mytaxi.
-

On the old Hailo app wasn’t there a section to put in tips on cash jobs.
-
Oh ok then
-
^^^^Daly as stupid as it seems we have day drivers earning night time money by working the app.No pikeys, very few drunks or coke heads, no pukers or angry muppets to work with. It's very tempting.
-
There was, JM. On my first week with the firm I input all my tips not expecting them to be subject to commission... once I found out they were I stopped. There was no Toll input box, though.

What’s the story with ye using the M50 on a mytaxi job ?
Do mytaxi take commission on the price of the Toll if the job is on account
-
No, tolls are exempt from commission yet tips aren't!
-
No, tolls are exempt from commission yet tips aren't!
Have you a place to enter the toll on the final price ?
Don’t think I can enter a toll on the app.

My very first day as a taxi driver,I put in an 8 hour daytime shift on the ranks and looking for street hails. €42
That evening the mytaxi registration came through, and I did nearly 6 times that for the same hours on the app.
-

Don’t think I can enter a toll on the app.
It's a blue button right under where you type in the fare.
-
Must look out for that the next time
-
Vandriver you said you did that on your very first day ? Think how many more drivers have joined mytaxi since then.its obvious that the pot is a lot smaller now.the problem I have with the sneakey way mytaxi, and the cunt radio companies work is,they are both trying to make it compulsary for drivers to align with them.the Government would love that to,so they are pushing an open door.I think its important that the independent drivers sent them a message that there will be no alignment .in other words we want to remain self employed, and not join the ranks of supposedly self employed who like being told what to do,and how to run our business
-
There could be 180 less working for mytaxi in due course... I wonder if any of the immigrants that do the wireless advertisements are caught up in the illicit licence scandal.
-

Hmm...i did pose this question on a different thread Doc....all very jokingly i might add.....but i wonder?

Is it also morally wrong for MTaxi to take 12% of any tips that are processed via Credit Card payers ?
-
Germans don't have morals... or a sense of humour.
-
On a serious note ,it bares out what I have always said, there is no proper vetting procedure.I have always wondered how the fukk could people, who in some cases cannot even speak English possibly pass the. test I have a very interesting letter from Charlie Flannagan when I raised this question some time ago. His reply is laughable and here it is.I am informed by the Garda authoritiesthat all applicants for SPSV licences including foreign nationals are thoroughly vetted.I am furthet advisedthat the vetting process includes the following systems and agencies.the Garda PULSE system, revenue on line service, the national transport authority, the Garda national immigration bureau's system and and other body deemed to be of assistance all foreign nationals are required toprovide a police certificate of character from their country of origin before their application can proceed.if an applicant is deemed a suitable person, they are issued with an SPSV licence
Signed Charlie Flanagan
Its a pack of fukking lies, they do not have to provide, such docs
-
It's mad... there's no way anyone born outside Dublin could pass the current test introduced by that mean and nasty lady, Kathleen Doyle.
-

Last I heard of her was she had a nervous breakdown

Probably when she saw what she was being paid.
-
Well rat its kinda hsrd to do,when you cannot even speak fukking English
-
I got a tip from a bloke yers ago 150 euro.... Think he won the lottery... Anyway
Another cnut puked in me car and jumped over a fukin wall....
Unpaid 150 fare and spewing charge unpaid.... Can you apply to the tax man for tax credits on bad debts ( runners) and pukers?
Was I reading rite wen I rang the revenue this mornin it costs 2.95 a minute?
Ringing ting tong on the wank line or mystic fukin meg be cheaper than that....
Robbin cnuts
-
Indeed, DM. Mind you, half of them are probably fluent by the time the Gardai uncover these scams. It must be over 10 years since you first highlighted what's going on and it's taken them till now to catch up with 180 of them.
-
Another 134 in the frame now for sham marriages
-
Tip of the iceberg... most of those lads wouldn't be able to say I do in English never mind in poleish, checkian, slovakian, romaneian, etc...
-
Yet we are asked to believe they sat down and passed a written knowledge test to get a SPSV licence.I keep saying it,the reason for a blind eye being turned is because of a fear of the immigrant council of Ireland.most politians know that to they say anything derogatory about foreigners,is to signbe their political death warrent.the mayor of Naas being a classic example a few years ago when he said he found Nigerians a little bit difficult to deal with
-
It's a bit more than a blind eye, DM. If I had €2.40 for every punter that told me of an immigrant driver who can't speak ENGLISH I'd be a multi millionaire. I'd be surprised if one out of every 356 immigrants has sufficient command of our native tongue to understand simple directions never mind pass an examination... yet the majority of night time taxi drivers up above in Dublin are immigrants.
-
Tip of the iceberg... most of those lads wouldn't be able to say I do in English never mind in poleish, checkian, slovakian, romaneian, etc...
...or spell properly!!
-
And yet we,as taxi drivers who acknowledge this threat to our livelihoods choose to make light of this situation, rather then demand immediate action from the appropriate authorities
-
For years, this has been talked about and from what i gather the authorities have said nothing to see here...the dogs...and even the cats on the street knew there was illegals...and not illegals hiding and working in kitchens of fast food outlets....working in plain sight.
-

-
And I’ll say it again
WHAT FUCKING TIPS???
-
Got a tip today of 1.40 on a cash job.
Better make a note of it in my ledger in case John M reports me.
“You must declare all tips as it’s income”
-
And I’ll say it again
WHAT FUCKING TIPS???
Kew Gardens for the Gold Cup....c/o you know who.
-

Wouldn’t trust his tips ffs. Sure he does fuck all work and probably makes more in tips than he does on fares

Next time Im racing in Kilbeggan if I bump into Mickie O Im going to tell him how to save big bucks in Ryanair wages .If he was to pay all the hostesses ,trolley dollies and trollieboys minimum wage and as the Pilot was leaving the plane he gave the crew a tip that made up the balance of their wages then he could save on tax pris . Ill tell him I got the idea from a taxi driver in cork who thinks tips are not part of your earnings .Sure Leo could do the same with the Tds pay them minimum wage then give them a tip for great service to the country he could even put their tip in brown envelopes just to observe tradition .
-
He may even tell you the next time you book a Flight on his airline have a look in the mirror first because you may need to book 2 seats for yourself.
Just saying like.

As everyone on here knows, apart from you it seems,I don't do nights or 16 hour days.
I was referring to an identical shift the next day.

Your post very a bit iffy is all. Thanks for the clarification.
So obviously, on your 2nd shift ever in the taxi you made over 200 in an 8 hour shift, €30 an hour. ON YOUR 2ND SHIFT EVER. You should be on the stage

There's one leaving at 6
-
In fairness,I get what you're saying.
I usually earn more on a 6 to 10 pm shift than I would 8.30 to 3.30 daytime.

The difference between you and me is ,I DONt FUKKING CARDS another advantage of not being aligned to an EMPLOYER
-
You could use sumup and still be independent. Commission is less than 3%.
-
Its not the commision watty, i. just like to remain self employed in the full meaning of SELF employed.most of the drivers who are aligned came from the paye sector, only to rejoin it..as long as they are aligned they will NEVER be self employed. Kearns,Kelly, and Ebbs will always pull their strings

They too are on the way out.
At.least you've a Semi State pension to fall back on.
They have to spoof drivers to pay them rent to build up their pensions. Before it's too late.

Wishful thinking, SB. mytaxi is more popular than ever with (immigrant) drivers working for the firm are paying €3+/hour freight. In fact it has so much work these days that it has to use hackneys and clapped out shiteboxes masquerading as limousines to cover taxi fares as well as flooding the city with drivers who aren't even licensed to work up above in Dublin.

Wonder how many of the chosen 180 were with our super doper despatch firm MYT ? I know the NTA are responsible for vetting us scum but surely they have to take some of the blame
-
No... you think NTA are responsible for vetting. In fact, An Garda Siochana is responsible for vetting. mytaxi doesn't give a flying fuck and isn't required to.
-
Its the Gardai who have sole responsibility for vetting, and maybe sometime in the future, when they stop being afraid of the immigrant council of Ireland, they might actually DO the fukking job properly, instead of paying lip service

OK Rat so Garda do the initial vet and also at renewal time every 5 years.
What about if I murder , rape someone in the meantime , will I be OK to renew my licence every year ?
-
An Garda Siochana have the power to revoke your licence at any time, they don't have to wait until renewal. However, I don't think they do it very often. I know of a few drivers who done time for drug dealing but never lost their licences.

OK so it looks like this whole idea of vetting is a load of me bolx , you can deal drugs or be part of the Holy 180 who came in on the last spaceship and still get a fckn Taxi Licence, I went for me suitability this morning and got turned down because of no hub caps (forgot to put them back on after NCT) and also bubbly sticker.
"4 Black legs good 2 white legs bad"

The LRA seems to have got a lot more stringent in recent times. Your suggestion that being white and Irish by accident of birth is a disadvantage in the current climate may not be as silly as it sounds. I had a punter in my car a few weeks back who suggested that there was a major shake up in Applus+++ when a study of LRA failures found that the vast majority of vehicles that failed were owned or operated by immigrants... maybe the new regime has been instructed to redress the balance?
Obviously that's all hearsay and rumour but I have got away with a lot myself as far as the LRA goes... including pealing/damaged door stickers (twice told it won't pass next year, only resubmitted once when it passed with the same i.e. the second warning) and a missing decal from the rear window.

And tested by a white Irish male in his 50's, I would have expected a little bit of lee-way

Indeed... as noted, I've benefited from the odd blind eye here and there over the years...

Have they not a seat on the board? Met a fellow header outside Marino College there about an hour ago................reckons the more Ombudsman(s) or men you have, the less effective actual law enforcement is.......he was very agitated....think he was about to let rip until I explained the old role of the court jester in the traditional setting of Red Robe and Black Robe.......

Don't subject yourself to Garda vetting and borrow a photo copier and laminator = Job is oxo....

You would earn Double the dough of those other shifts,
but ya need a strong mind and stomach to do the Nights,
also to be an adrenaline junkie and be 'Tooled Up' helps !
Night time Taxi work is Not fer the 'Faint of Heart' !
-
No... you think NTA are responsible for vetting. In fact, An Garda Siochana is responsible for vetting. mytaxi doesn't give a flying fuck and isn't required to.
Agreed Ratcatcher, but would you not think that MyTaxi would ask all new drivers if they actually have a permit to work in Eire ?
-
As if they care?
-
No, Ken. They are asked that question at licence renewal. I'm not sure if the answer bears any relevance to the licence being renewed or not but it forms part of the declaration we all make. If mytaxi were renting them licensed vehicles they would be obligated to procure a similar declaration.

Probably? I think he's paid more in freight since he joined my trade than I've turned over in the last 5 years!

100 plus jobs a week.

Night work probably isn't as shitty as you think. The vast majority of night punters are sound.

It’s tge shitty hours I’m on about.

But the days are as busy as nights.
Between 5am and 7am you can take some nice money, better than any night

Depends on where you pick up people, more scummers on Harcourt Street than Dawson Street. More scummers on Parnell Street than Parliament Street.
