A GANG boss with links to feuding west Dublin mobs has been quizzed over the killing of Kinahan cartel victim Caine Kirwan.
The hood was lifted on suspicion of murder after gardai swooped on Cloverhill Prison.
He’s the most senior criminal to be questioned about the hit.
Caine, 24, was shot in the head a year after his dad Noel ‘Duck Egg’ Kirwan was murdered.
The man held, who has links to the Kinahan cartel, is suspected of helping lure him to his death on December 2, 2017.
Caine was blasted and his body dumped in a field in Clonee, Co Meath, after he arranged to meet the suspect.
‘Duck Egg’ was gunned down at his partner’s Dublin home the previous December.
The main theory being probed in Caine’s slaying is that he was lured to his death by someone he trusted and was targeted over the cartel’s fears he would try and avenge his dad’s killing.
A source said: “This individual is a dangerous criminal and is currently being held in custody on another serious charge.
“He’s suspected of luring Caine to his death and has also been linked to other murders in the past.”
A man also arrested on conspiracy to murder Kirwan was released from custody before Christmas.
We previously revealed how Kirwan had “no idea” he was under threat when he was stalked by cartel gun-for-hire Andrew O’Keefe, 29.
The would-be assassin failed in his mission when the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau busted him in Inchicore, Dublin, on September 6, 2017.
Investigators were forced to fire seven gunshots as O’Keefe tried to flee when they pounced.
The thug, from Cabra in the capital, was caged for eight years for possessing a 9mm Beretta handgun and a silencer.

The report headlines "links to feuding west Dublin mobs"... the context clearly being disputes between gangs operating primarily in West Dublin.

I'm only acting the maggot. I blame Williams again for this nonsense.

"Swooped on a guy who is locked up in Cloverhill"
Talk about padding a non story.

Picture in one of the nationals of one of the lads who were shot recently carrying a lovely gold "man bag" over his shoulder while holidaying in Spain or Dubai or somewhere. I'd like to see him walk around Corduff or Neilstown in that guise!

De rigueur if Ronanstown though.
