Post by: john m on March 14, 2019, 08:27:37 am
Decision to be made today if British Soldiers who were ordered to shoot British People on the streets of Northren Ireland on Bloody Sunday will be charged with some made up crime it was murder .Dont fancy Mrs Mays chances of getting the DUP to support her government if they charge the Troops .

Timing? lol Pity we never hear about the Dublin Bloody Sunday at all. Murder it was, but if it was state sanctioned should soldiers be charged? Could the North Vietnamese insist on jarheads being deported to face charges too? How about digging up the Auxillaries/Tans?

Timing as you say Lip .The DUP will call foul cant see them continuing to support Mays Government .You couldnt write the script for social collapse better than this .Karma Britains treatment of the Irish coming back to haunt them.Imagine an unelected Irish Woman Arlene Forster is in control of the the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northren Ireland .

Daughter of a Fermanagh farmer, I heard. Anyway, not coming from the background that the Tory cabinet does (Eton, Rugby, Oxbridge) places her at an enormous disadvantage. The political genes in their blood are pure and they're taught harsh lessons at early stages of their lives..ancient codes and traditions such as being made masturbate in front of large groups to degrade themselves....sexual favours...male on male, female on female. Arlene is in the ha'penny place...God love her.

If they are acquitted,it could have grave implications for the peace process

They might not be charged .DPP could rule the passage of time means they cant get a fair trial .Plus if they gave evidence to the Saville Report they have immunity from what they said being used against them .Remember Terrorists got immunity or released after the Good Friday .If they are charged the Loyalists will cry foul most Loyalists are DUP voters  so dont be surprised if the DUP decide to withdraw their support for the Government ,they now have a political issue to use to get re elected .It might suit The Tories if the government was to fall and a general election might give them a majority in the next Parliament .

!7 troops being investigated chances are they will charge three or Four of them and the rest will walk then there will be ongoing appeals about where and when they will stand trial probably Die before any court case .

Someone else will know the name of the convention, I can't remember and I'm lazy, he can only be done if found to have contravened its terms and if his commanding officers(either dead or will be soon!) can establish he defied instruction/orders.

He probably has cancer or Alsimers be dead before the trial this is just to placate the families .But it opens a can of worms can Iraquies sue the British state for murdering their families .

Nurenberg didnt accept I was only acting on orders .

Nuremberg was set up by the 4 victorious nations in WW2, John.  The U.S and British and even ze German lawyers said it was a travesty as the Judges came from these victorious nations.
There were loads of legal and procedural difficulties to overcome in setting up the Nuremberg trials. First, there was no precedent for an international trial of war criminals...........I think there were several appeals to the I.C.C. later on behalf of the butchers in the Yougoslav war as a result of America's never accepting the validity of the I.C.C. imposing criminal law on U.S. citizens...

Maybe you know or someone else does, is this soldier to be tried as an international war criminal? The I.C.C. is the International Criminal Court btw...
