From today Electric cars are to have an on board stereo to broadcast engine noise because electric cars are to quiet and a danger to pedestrians ,so athmosphere polution is to be replaced with noise polution .Another EU piece of logic to cut down on emissions farmers in Europe have to reduce the size of their herds and the shortfall in beef will be made up by Brazil cutting down more rain forest to grow more cows .
The Electric cars having to make noise reminds me of when I was a Kid playing motor cars making car sounds as I pushed my Dinkies round the floor .

The only way to get people to switch is to hit them in the pocket.So you will be allowed to keep your diesel but it might not be economically viable as they tax the bollix out of the diesel.
It's worth noting during the recent European heatwave some cities completely banned diesel-powered vehicles to improve the air quality.I wouldn't like to be told sorry yer not working today because some fat kid has asthma around the corner.

Your meant to think that but big oil is still investing billions trying to discover more oil .If electric cars are the future then why is Copper not more expensive .The amount of copper needed for chargers and cars means Copper comodies trading is the new Gold but its not reflected in copper futures trading .If something is true then all the pieces of the jig saw should be in place and their not .Tesla who have been in the EV game the longest and had limitless funds couldnt deliver neither can anybody else .EVs are a pipe dream they cannot be built of fueled by existing tech .

The batteries are recyclable.Watched a documentary on Netflix about it.I agree leccy cars are just another gadget though,that's why I'm getting one.And they're cheaper to run too which is the more important to most rather than saving the planet.

During the World Cup Half time in the England Game the Electricity Griv was running at 120% of peak capasity as people put the kettle on can you imagine a few million cars on charge every night at the moment we import electricity from France and GB cant see an Irish government paying much more than lip service to EV conversion .Unlike diesel or petrol use which is discressionary spending we all need to use electricity so government wont want to increase prices on expensive imports especially for domestic use .

Also all the hydrogen cars I've seen so far use a hybrid system that incorporates a battery.Just like the humble Prius.
Anyone else notice VW group cars no longer have TDI on the back like a badge of honour.Next they'll turn on the hybrid drivers.

Boris will demand nothing two days after he is elected leader of the Tory Party his nomination for Prime minister will be defeated in Parliament .Stewart ,Grieve and Clarke will abstain on the vote .Might be a clever bet that Boris never becomes PM even if he wins the Tory vote .

They seem to attract the immigrant vote. 3 seats in Tallaght south, one of the few constituencies to return an immigrant, at the last locals when their vote "collapsed" so they're still strong within a few disenfranchised pockets around the place. I couldn't vote for them myself given their taxi policy which pretty much mirrors what you identify as their main strategy, LL. They want to sack men from driving taxis on foot of convictions handed down by the British judiciary, the same judiciary that convicted the Guilford Four and the Birmingham Six, while removing vetting for immigrants on the same lines as the security trade. I picked up a lad a few years ago who was at a oweg shin fane (young shiners) meeting and he said it was like a taximan's tea party.

My methodology is pretty simple, I allocate each piece of garbage to either the green bin or the brown bin on a best fit basis and never use the black bin. Since they added a weight based surcharge to the green bin the charge works out at c.€143.56/year which, IMO, is pretty reasonable. I doubt the council could do it for less.
The Shiners probably just want more menial jobs with pensions for their immigrant voters.

They also noted that future notifications will be by email. Anywaysanall, they don't apply penalties - or haven't to date. If/when they do I'll take my business elsewhere. The fact is I play them to collect and process the rubbish. If I have to process / sort it all myself I may as well take it to the recycling centre myself and put whatever can't be recycled or flushed down the toilet into a public bin.

Mrs. Catcher already frequents the recycling centre with stuff she won't put in the bins (or stuff I've put in that she retrieves - generally glass) so we're already doing half of what we pay them to do. The World really has gone mad .My Pal Fat Bernard has a son who works for an Investment bank .Last year the fund he manages made a small loss but his kid got over 50,000 Bonus (for not losing more )On Friday the fund he managed was merged with another one and Baby Bernard was offered redundancy .70,000 lump sum 3 months wages while he tries to find another job as there is a cooling off period between leaving one fund management company and joining another so you cant bring up to date information with you and an added bonus ,He gets 3 years bonus if the new merged fund makes any profits over the next 3 years .How the fuck do you pay somebody for being no good then pay to get rid of them then pay them if the person you get to replace them turns out to be better than them .

Was half listening to a debate on news talk about emergency climate bill proposed by PBP Brid Smith ,and senator Peter Lorimer were on talking about it.the subject of licences being issued for various industries were spoken about,but as I wasnt really listening I didnt pay to much attention.but I know brid smith mentioned taxi drivers having gone to the high court and lost their case in some context or another.

I like Brid but she is against everything and for nothing .She wants to ban Drilling and exploration off the coast for oil or gas .What she dosent understand is companies hold those licences and are entitled to use those licences .Knowing Brid she is probably saying taxi drivers had the conditions of ISSUE for taxi licences amended so why not amend the terms of use for drilling licences .I would think she is going with the Merchand of Venice approach you can have your pound of flesh provided you dont take one drop of blood .Brid is jumping on the Green Bus we dont want any drilling off our coast just in case we discover oil or gas that will destroy the environment but we will import from the Arabs .If you were designing stupit you wouldnt have to look much further than Irish Politicians for your model.

Most banks dont make money they shuffle it from one colum to the other like Anglo borrowing from Nationwide or whoever it was the day before an audit .Banks are really not for profit organisations just make wages for staff and directors trow coin to the shareholders no need to make profit as profit only leads to tax and thats a waste of money that could be making more money for the staff and shareholders .Cashless is brilliant for banks it means they dont need to hold any cash just a logoritm that shuffles the pack .Its virtual currency that dosent exist but we accept it .You do a metaxi job get paid in tradeable vouchers then pass them off in the garage for fuel or smokes you never see a penny or a pound in your pocket .By replacing Real money with virtual money banks can never run out of money as it is only virtual .Why do you think the wealthy are investing in real stuff like Land or buildings they know the future for cash is limited .A thing that started out as astudents website is set to become the worlds biggest bank (Facebook)
